@@OllieJones Hey I'm curious about how you got the reddish and blurry feeling on the waterfall scene. As I knlw, professionals like Cinelab can't do mistake while developing. So the answer left must be that your hint of expirement of the film. How's your opinion?
there's just something unique about analogue film that digital can't replace: 1. shakiness and noise on each frame when you scan them. even when the camera's already steady to record before. 2. small dust that appears randomly, its extremely unpredictable, yet it tells you that this film was done with a physical reel, and it will always be the reason why its charming.
Something about the film makes you feel something. One way or another, the imperfections of the image makes it more vivid. I don't think ill ever be able to put it into words. It's something you "feel", and I definitely felt something undescribable watching what is presumably a collection of random shots of a place I've never been to before, yet feels so familiar.
This is a perfect film. You've done an incredible job with the atmosphere and tone of the footage, and the visuals are captured beautifully. It's become one of my favourite UA-cam shorts. Excellent job man, seriously.
This is really well done. The contrasts both visually and auditory work to make a statement that otherwise difficult to do on the length of one 100ft roll of film.
I'm not good at painting but this video wants to make me paint every single shot. One of the most beautiful videos i have ever seen. I'm so thankful for this video.
This is an amazing film!!! The relaxing sounds of nature along with those from man made objects are mixed extremely well with the music in the beginning. And the composition of your cinematography OH MY GOD!!!! And I’m a huge sucker for Black & White film, so that ending was the cherry on top. Spectacular job filming this and putting it all together!!!
This is amazing! The framing, texture, and details really stands out. The sound design is fantastic, the film grain is lovely, and the aspect ratio fits really well. Great work my friend, very inspiring stuff
Absolutely beautiful. and not just aesthetically. I knew from the very first cut being a cut out, that you were gonna utilize the film in a narrative/cinematic sense. And, I love it, I admire the foley too.
This looks soo good... It's so mesmerizing.. Big budget movies can still keep celluloid alive.. Instead of using fully digital cameras in their movies...
And its 16mm film.35 or 70 mm film is over kill.while digicam only mimic film.watch movie clip Lawrence of Arabia or any 80s 90s clip.no Digital can closer
This, THIS, is exactly why digital photography will never replace celluloid photography in my heart.
Amen!

@@OllieJones And the sound!!! Is it digital??? Idk why I feel it differently.
You know what? This is totally ancient!!!!
Photography?
@Ed Nguyen wrong

If you want this look, there is literally no reason to actually shoot real film. You can reproduce this look easily with digital footage.
@@laurencewhite4809sorry i
disagree. its just not the same as analogue
looks great like the beginning to a old scary movie
Some of the best 16mm work I've seen in UA-cam.
Really love this atmosphere
Stunning. Feels like I’m watching a gritty 70’s UK TV drama.

Film creates a far more atmospheric theme.
i love how you wrote this :D
Wow the shot of that house with pine tree is insane! I can't believe how well the film picks up the wetness of the atmosphere.

Thanks mate!!
I absolutely love this, thank you so much. I am from Hartland but now live overseas. Made my month.
Very beautiful scenes and sights. Lovely work!
This medium must flourish forever.
I would really love to see an old horror quest game in this abandoned setting, in the style of early 00’s. Old house, woods, deserted harbor. wow
Finally something on UA-cam shot on film without the need of showing the borders or perforations. Thanks.
We must not allow cinema or digital photography to kill analogue.
I agree. Same with 2D Traditional animation and cel animation.
Amen.
it won't
Why not?
Prices are killing it, not the aficionados.
Absolutely stunning atmosphere you have created there, it really looks like a classic old movie, a good old Murder Mystery.
Excellent work !
woah it's so crisp.. great shot, great ambience
This is gorgeous. Looks like shots from those old A Ghost Story for Christmas films from the 70s. Nice work!
Stunningly gorgeous, I can appreciate this infinitely more than anything digital 👏🏾📽️🎞️⚡
Simply beautiful. Celluloid is just pure art.
The Halation. The Grain! I love how the film renders the colors of the sky. Great film. I especially love your sounddesign. Awesome job! :)
I love how it makes it look so late 70s looking
Absolutely beautiful. Such a timeless look.
This was so hauntingly beautiful, and so much better with the environmental sound instead of music!
this felt never-ending. loved every shot.
this is eerily Brillant and nostalgic, its giving the lighthouse movie vibes
Really Great The Sound Is The Real Highlight Here, Really Inspirational Stuff

I often think about this project, a real source of inspiration !

In love with this, Ollie! I recently found my Grandpa's old Bolex camera and this has inspired me to wanna go out and shoot something with it.
The church bells are a nice touch.
This was not what I was expecting but such a cool piece of art. Thanks for shooting on film and thanks for sharing!
Desolate and lonely atmosphere combined with stunning visuals? Ambient bliss. Great film.

Hauntingly beautiful.

This is startling and beautiful.

loved it. the atmosphere was definitely enhanced by the 16mm film. definitely no substitute for the real thing. i hope you make more of these.
Okay…this is just…Fantastic!
Love it, especially the sound design!
Oh, this is lovely, sir. I quite like the bit with the waterfall: a thing no digi-whatever can ever hope to replicate. Viva film.
My kind of shooting! There is just something special about the 4:3 static shots on film, I don't know I just love it, I can't get enough of it..
Just beautiful, Ollie. Very well done indeed!
Rivetingly gorgeous and haunting
This is the coolest thing ever im obsessed with 16mm!
Really a great short movie, love the atmosphere.

Sound design and shots remind me a lot of From the Wild Sea (2021). Nice work

Fantastic! I got an old Krasnogorsk-3 16mm camera in good condition. This makes me wanna use it again.
This is art that will be honored after all our deaths.
Gives me The Seventh Seal vibe but colorized ❤️ loved it
Yesss!! I was thinking that too!! ❤️

Stunning work
beautiful footage!
Absolutely superb , loads of talent :-)
This looks so organic.
Those film grains, and natural colour balance, which the digital "photography" will be never able to duplicate. Long live analogue cinema.
