@@shemleihjoy It sounds like a system bug. You can try to update the iOS system via recovery mode and see if the issue is fixed. If not, you'll have to reset the phone.

I tried to restart my Security lock iPhone 8 by following the steps on Apple, and when i did, nothing happend, it went back to the time screen, and the timer is finally going down now. iPhones are stupid, why not just enable your iTunes or iCloud account to discontinue the 8 hour countdown so the person can just log in with their passcode instead of having to go through erasing all their information

Well using icloud is absolutely useless because how are you able to access a 6 digit code when your phone is locked? At around 6 hours the timer just stopped so i restarted my phone and guess what? Back to eight hours.
If you don't remember your passcode, you only solution is to reset it with the Erase iPhone button, iCloud, or using a computer.
