    Diamond certificate
    I'm that guy Osiris and today we are going to talk about diamond certificates. You're gonna learn why it's so important to make sure that you buy a diamond with the right type of certification because this is going to be the difference in paying 20 to 30% higher price for a diamond grade that’s not accurate. So you are overpaying for a lower-quality diamond. Does that sound appealing to you? Let's get into it.

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  2 роки тому

      I would say this. 99% are IGI. If there are some GIA certs it’s for sure a plus. But my focus would be cut. Not GIA with labs. GIA is more critical when buying natural because being off a grade on color and clarity can be thousands of dollars in a natural. It’s basically priced the same with labs.

    Hi, thanks for the video and all the help you provide! I am currently looking at a lab grown diamond (IGI certified) that is about one karat, ideal cut, I color and Sl1 clarity. Since IGI is one grade off, would it make sense to go up to H color and VS2 clarity and adjust the karat down to about 0.9 to ensure better quality?

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  3 роки тому +5

      You are very welcome, glad I have helped. That depends. Does it appear eye clean to you. If it is eye clean 20X magnified then you are good. If you are mounting white gold, then I would be nice so you should go H. If yellow gold you are good. Some people love their J color on white gold. One carat is pretty safe, 2-3 carats and you start seeing more color.

      Thanks for sharing! I dont love their site and form of diamond viewing. They dont use official company certs they have an in house diamond expert who grades the diamonds, NOT an official GIA cert.. Some complain of grayish diamond which can be due to the method of lab creation. For those reasons I dont really use them.

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  3 роки тому

      Thanks for commenting. I have some guides on my site that help narrow the gap. True hearts does have an advantage in cut but if you narrow down the premium ideal settings it closes the gap and only makes it marginally different. Keep in mind the diamond game is one of slights. You pay premiums for slight improvements. Just because GIA says excellent cut doesn't mean there isnt a wide margin within the realm of "excellent".

    I went to a retail store and asked to see some diamonds. He showed me about 10 of them ranging from $2,000 to $41,000. I asked him if they are certified diamonds and he said yes. I asked which is GIA and he said he thinks the $41,000 is the only one but can't be for sure and would need to check. I left shortly after I heard that.

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  Рік тому

      One- thanks for the comment. 2. I would say the color and clarity can be one grade off. Use your eyes, if the diamond has a large inclusion thats visible or on the grading plot then yes its an si2. Si2 tend to stand out. This does not apply to cut. 3. if natural there will be large price difference. As in it will appear as a great deal. If lab diamond, the difference in price is more or less the same. Thats why this cert is the standard for lab but would not advise for natural.

    Can you haggle a lab diamond because it's igi.
    When you buy a diamond from online . Is there someone I can take it to to confirm the Cs

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  3 роки тому +1

      You can't haggle online. Online is cheap because its a razor thin margin. The price is the price. You can spend money to get it GIA certified. I wouldn't. Its going to be off a grade. Dont pay extra just to find that out. Just buy with the knowledge its off one grade in clarity and color.

    Osiris would you say a flat no to IGI, I found one on JA at a good price and clarity looks good, almost no inclusions. H, si2, excellent cut, using depth and table measures from your other videos

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  2 роки тому

      This is a very good question James. I will explain that your situation is one of the few that may work. Let me explain. Your H Si2 is most likely a I1 I color. Finding an I1 that’s eye clean is very difficult. If you find the pricing in line with a GIA I1 I color then I would consider it. Does that make sense. Sometimes the pricing is way off. But if that stone is a great cut eye clean and priced similar to an I1 then it’s good. Hope this wasn’t confusing lol

      @@anotherreview5586 Yes its less important. People arent starring at your ears like they do an engagement ring. J-I color works perfectly for earrings. Si1-si2 clarity works perfectly. I would argue most earrings you see in the malls are I1 quality with loose appraisals claiming si quality.

      @@anotherreview5586 Push back is just an affordable option. The reason also that the screw backs are more is the gold itself. You are paying for more gold. Some girls like push back becuase its easy. The screw backs are no doubt more secure in the end. and it makes more sense to upgrade.
