      Hi Bonnie , its so scary . in singapore , with this jeweller " Taka jewellery " ...they are throwing prices for lab grown diamonds . yes , IGI certified , D VVS2, triple excellent cut , and 1carat is like SGD 800 so thats like USD 500-600 ? ( 1.35 rate ) . There is also another called " Novita diamonds " . prices of lab grown has dropped so drastically ....its so scary !!!

      @@rolandbishop3102 look bishop , you dont pray for that . right now the people marketing natural has well kinda won , but not becos of anything other than the lab grown lacking a clear association / cartel to control supply . once they can cartel it like how the natural fellas do it . i am afraid its the naturals who will be shivering in fear . people aint stupid , over time they will realise they dont need to tie the value of something to very valuable simply becos they " price it very high " ... my client who used to work for Rio Tinto told me they predict , natural & lab in the worst case scenario would converge in pricing . Ultimately say what you like , they are the same .but yes for us jewellers , we prefer to sell something expensive cos a 10% mark up on a $10,000 stone is $1000 . now what would a 10% mark up on a $900 lab be ? $90 ?? now which jeweller wants to make only $90 ??

    The best time to buy a lab grown diamond is to just keep waiting. With the economy slowing down and supply increasing, this will continue to push prices down. I started looking at lab grown diamonds 3 years ago, and boy am I glad I waited. They are at least 50 percent less than they were three years ago. We have some things to get resituated in our life before we upgrade. That's definitely been working in our favor. I'll wait and buy a used H&A hpht ring from eBay when the time is right. There was recently a +3ct H&A hpht that was selling for $3250.

    I still don’t understand why diamonds are so expensive. They’re not unique, they’re definitely not rare, and there’s plenty of them to go around. The market just likes people to believe that there’s a limited amount of them to justify the high prices.

      because of demand. I imagine eventually people will move toward emeralds and rubies. It’s just how things are…after awhile people are going to want exclusivity. If you can get lab diamonds for next to nothing what’s the purpose in having them? If you want something shiny get a polished quartz crystal or might as well be CZ at this point.

    Diamonds are not only used for jewellery but also has industrial uses for cutting things or optical equipment. Before they also depended on natural diamonds and pushing up the price. But they don’t really care if it’s natural or lab grown, they just want cheap materials and all the demands are heading to lab grown diamonds now. There will be more natural diamonds for jewellery in the future and some of people will choose lab grown diamonds for pricing.

      Hi dear! So, the anticipated drop in Lab diamonds is due to the overwhelming amount of supply. (Which I think everyone knew about it when it first came out). I made multiple videos on it and many other jewelers have written articles educating their clients about it, making sure that everyone is making an informed decision when it comes to buying.
      Even with the drop, the market continues to have growth and demand is strong. Now, extending over to South East Asia, Europe and the rest of the world.
      Now, when it comes to comparing them to moissanite and CZ, it's like this big gemstone showdown. While lab diamonds might have a unique production method, what really matters is how people see/perceive them, how they're advertised, and what's happening in the gemstone market overall.
      Working with clients everyday, I noticed a really diverse preference based on individual needs, budget and sentiment/ feelings towards each type of gems. For example, some people love moissanites and don't care for diamonds. Others love natural diamonds because it makes them feel rich (yes I'm being totally honest here). And many buy my curated Lab diamonds because it sparks joy in their lives, and it's affordable.
      Re your first question, predicting the marketing is really challenging because it's based on so many factors. But remember, emphasizing on craftsmanship and curation is number one key in getting a beautiful piece of jewelry. Hopefully we will get more clarity soon!
      Thanks for watching!!

      @@ByBonnieJewelry Bonnie thank you for your response. I’m still shocked at how much has changed in lab prices from 2018 to today.
      Lab created diamonds started off being about 30% less expensive then mined and that seemed good at the time. Now with them being about 75% less expensive it’s like they keep devaluing and before you know it they will be 90% less expensive 🤦🏼‍♀️
      If lab factories were smarter they would increase the demand or set a cap. Do you think prices could ever go up? I’m sure it’s possible I guess anything is possible really. We will just have to wait and see! What a time to be alive.

    Buying a natural diamond makes no financial sense. If you buy a $1000 lab diamond and it has a 0 resale value, you lose $1000. If you buy the same natural diamond for $2500 it's resale value is $1000, a 60% depreciation. So you lose the same amount of money either way.

      This doesn't make sense. It doesn't account for the supply being non-existent someday causing the price to sky rocket. Sure there are natural diamonds available today but there won't be enough supply for generations to come and the only way you'd be able to get a natural diamond is through being rich enough to buy it or it being passed down. Look at the pearl market.

    The data suggests that there is a bifurcation in the market: the price sensitive low-end of the market will be taken by the synthetic diamonds. The higher end consumer segment who were ok with spending >$50k on a diamond will remain with mined diamonds. Takeaway: jewelers that focus on the high end of the market will have to up their game and provide experiences for the consumer similar to luxury retailers in other sectors. Mass market retailers will continue to shift to lab grown, because consumers will demand it due to a lack of discernible and obvious differences in the product, the the failings of the Kimberley Process which taints the entire mined diamond reputation

    Lab grown diamond = loud budgeting! If we stop thinking about resale value, which is very minimal even for a natural diamond or brand name jewelry, lab grown is the way to go! Same look for way less money, I will take it.

    To each his own, but, I’m old enough to have natural diamonds. If I couldn’t afford one today, when lab grown are so much cheaper, I would choose another gemstone for an important piece of jewellery. For me, it just isn’t the same.

    Mined diamond supply has been regulated and controlled for too long. Lab grown diamonds will finally solve this problem. The pricing correction will see customers buying larger carat sized and better quality lab grown diamonds in favour of smaller natural stones at better pricing. Customers will still pay for quality but smaller stones will disappear. Maybe a 2 carat stone or more will be the norm for an engagement ring?? De Beers and high street jewellers will lose unless they see the future.

    Once lab diamonds oversaturate past natural diamonds, naturals will be in demand again. When is the question. Probably will be more of a collectible than anything.

    So you are saying the diamond prices dropped in 2023? They were over inflated during the pandemic?

    • @usfanlovesminho5085
      @usfanlovesminho5085 Рік тому

      The country was operating with no shut downs by 2022 and most not even wearing masks anymore. I think they were just trying to get the money lost from 2020. Regardless of when Biden officially announced the end of the pandemic, life was already back to normal in 2022 when the diamond prices soared.

    • @blingconomy
      @blingconomy Рік тому +1

      During the pandemic, there were supply constraints during a time of greater demand (people with cash to spend), so now we have a flipped formula: surplus of diamonds (lab and natural) with less demand. Rather than thinking in terms of the luxury industry being inflated, I prefer seeing price fluctuations I terms of market conditions. During and for a period after the pandemic, people also splurged to seize the day (Carpe Diem). Beyond the material value, I believe sentimental value counts for something, and if you ❤ your bling, at the end of the day it is worth what you paid (at least until you sell it then it is worth that).

  • @katypiette3581
    @katypiette3581 Рік тому +2

    Brands create the illusion of ‘luxury’ when most of the items they sell are garbage quality. You’re paying to advertise someone else’s logo and the manufactured exclusivity they create. As for diamonds lab or natural-it’s a no for me. Get a Moissanite and use the money you saved for some marriage counseling before you get married since 1/2 of all marriages end in divorce. Invest in your relationship not a ring.
