- Join me and Paul for the final instalment of our summer collaboration. Fishing and then diving where we find lobsters, crabs and various other wonderful sea creatures. A wonderful encounter with a seal and topped off with a delicious shellfish Paella cooked on the Beach. Crab, Lobster and Shrimp.

- I had a brilliant time foraging, diving and filming with Paul from Haze outdoors. If you enjoyed this type of collaboration, let us know and we will look at doing more. Best wishes everyone and have a great day. 😊👍🏻🦞🦀🐟
LOVED the collab!!! Keep em comin good sir!!!
Hi
I’m sooooo addicted to going outdoors and fishing I also like hunting what’s your biggest fish
John - When we dive, we also drag an inner tube by a line with a dive flag attached so boaters and water craft know easily where we are. In the States, it is 300 feet from the flag for no wake but that limits you to a small range of the boat or shore.
Having the tube also gives us something to hang goody bags and any U/W finds from without having to carry or attach everything to us. Plus, if we've taken any game that is trailing blood, sharks go to the hanging bag rather than something attached to me.
The dive master, should we have one that day, always knows about where we are in an emergency.
Amazing video, delecious cooking by you and Paul.
Like your dress changing style just like a magic or Thanos, but don't make the half of sea creatures disappeare 😂
I've never thought about it before but I think this is my favourite UA-cam channel.
- Thank you very much. Awe are simply trying to share what we know and love doing with people who have similar passions. So to hear that people really enjoy the content is wonderful. 😊
Mine to by far 🙂🙂🤘
Who else is binge watching this channel during quarantine? Makes me antsy to get back out in the world without a mask❤️🇺🇸
Xan Pollaro - We have had so many people say they are making this their lockdown viewing. 😊👍🏻
Should never let the medical system detail what you can and can't do, in the outdoors. That's where I was the whole time, while people were going crazy and taking the mandate...not me...I thrive outdoors
I really appreciate the way/POV that you film your dives. It makes me feel like I'm the one exploring the wonders of the ocean when in reality I'm hiding under my covers in my room!
- Thank you Vanessa it is my pleasure. I simply make videos how I would like to see them and share things how I feel that I view them 😊
I like your comment about why fishing is better at dawn and dusk - because predatory fish can see better than their prey in these light conditions.
- Its true isn't it. 😊
Who knows for sure, but it makes sense.
Two northerners cooking paella on the beach in Cornwall, how mad is that . Brilliant vid lads ,hope there's more to come. Haze outdoors and the fishlocker family stay safe .
- Its a crazy old world isn't it. Glad you enjoyed the video Adi. Take care mate. 😊
It's wonderful to see the interaction on comments is phenomenal.
Just starting the watch...excited for this dive. It's exactly what I need, after my neighbors mobile home burnt to the ground...need this sanity!!!
🍻🇨🇦❤️ LETS GO!!
That was so much delicious fun
I hope your neighbours were ok?
@@TheFishLocker he was thankfully. It's shocking watching a living place go up so fast. Hats off to the firefighters who got the blaze handled. If the wind had been a different direction, I think many more places would be lost, especially mine. So weird looking at the carcass of the structure now.
Gorgeous skies and can't believe all that is under our sea, it looks tropical.
It is simply wonderful isn't it. 😊
You two are just dead mad together..... brilliant stuff. World needs more lads like you 💕💕 PS tell your mate "a stitch in time" will save more than he thinks if he intends to wear those jeans many more times 😉
- Haha. Cheeky eyes. I think that hole in his jeans is a strategical hole. Haha. Have a wonderful night Rebecca and all the best. 😊
@@TheFishLocker 👀...might get more subs lol Cheers John 👍
Rebecca North - You never know. 😉
Looks like a perfect morning! That view!
- Simply stunning wasn't it. 😊
So many of us are focused on sun set photos or videos, the sun rise is just as amazing if not more. Nice vid :)
- I prefer the sunrise rather than the sunset personally. 😊
This is so nice to see, men on beach cooking up what they caught!
It is such a Blessing to watch your videos!
- Thank you Misty, we are simply 2 guys sharing a passion for the sea. I am glad you could join us 😊
This set-up is really entertaining John! Specially nice to hear the background stories from good old Whitby. During my "Tour de Yorkshire" in the 80's i visited that lovely fishingtown and went down to Robin Hood's Bay before setting off to Hornsea, where we were invited by an old RAF pilot, that flew countless sorties in a Spitfire during the last Big Conflict. And all this on my trusty Norton Commando 850 Interstate... First owner and i still have it!! Cheers from Scheveningen / Holland! By the way.... that look the seal gave you at 11.53, can only mean: Follow me home, you handsome bastard... LOL
- Haha. It is a small world isn't it. That seal must have looked how I looked in my suit. I've not been at sea long enough though to make her look attractive. lol. Take care mate and stay safe. 😊
As a spearo i can't think of a finer way to each. Freshly caught, sustainable, no carbon footprint. For the thumbs down what is there to dislike? Watch a factory ship hoover up the sea. People are poorly educated,.
Well done boys 👏👏👏
- I agree with you my friend. Fresh and sustainable sourced. Perfect. Take care and stay safe buddy. 😊
Incredible morning, this channel is unmatched.
Thank you Nick, I am glad that you feel that way. 😊
Great to see the two of you in videos. Reminds me of the times I had fishing with friends in the 70's and 80's.
We used to have crazy conversations about all sorts of things.
- Haha. We did to. Half of them sadly aren't youtube appropriate.haha
The seal was my favorite part 🥺😭🤍
- Haha. 😊
I know you weren't getting them today, but if you do a beach cook like this, a fresh clean scallop, or large clam shell makes a great spoon
- I imagine you would need a big mouth to fit in a scallop shell. Lol
@@TheFishLocker lol true, but I was meaning to scoop it up, but I guess rice would probably get stuck lol. King scallop shells seem like they'd be good as a container/dish to bake a seafood in. Such as using crab shells to do deviled crab in.
What a great life you have, thank you for sharing your life and times with us 👍
No problem at all Jason, we are simply sharing what we love doing. 😊
Saw Paul's angle already. But it was well worth a second viewing - proper chilled out. Would love to see you two colab again. ❤️️❤️️
- Thats one of the reasons we both did separate videos. We both have our own style and there are 2 perspectives to everything aren’t there. Glad you enjoyed it Davy. 😊👍🏻🦞
One of my fav wildlife/catch and cook channels: so informative and the steadiest hand ever filming underwater scenes! I’d literally be all over the place 🤣 it would be amazing for you to do an in-depth almost ‘wildlife doc’ style of Cornwall in the near future - obvs corona permitting ahah. Keep the vids comin!
- Thank you. What type of things would you like to feature in this wildlife doc?
Damn, I'm so jealous of these meals you have got there. Looks so damn good all the time.
Keep it up
- Haha. No need to be jealous Alexander. I am glad you enjoyed joining us in the water and on the beach 😊
wow yum yum yum yum all the best matt Lorraine
- All the best Matt. 😊
The goats of UA-cam ✊🏻
- I’m not sure what that means?
@@TheFishLocker GOAT = Greatest Of All Time 😁. Quality uploads bud cheers
In Portugal Velvet Crabs are considered a delicacy! By far, my favorite sea food!
- They are nice but just smaller so have less meat. 😊
I did enjoy myself again, Foot Looker. The lovely sunrise and the seals were a bonus. I noticed one on the seals had a red tag on its back flipper. In the US sea life that has been caught because they are orphaned or injured are tag when they are returned to the ocean. Is it the same in the UK?
I was taught by my pa that you don't forage for shellfish in months that don't have an R in it. I spent a lot of time when I was a young girl exploring the Gulf of Mexico before oil drilling. We get what is called a Red Tide algae bloom. This phenomenon kills millions of sea critters a year.
He was a veteran of WWll in the Pacific. He had saltwater running in his veins. He was the happiest out on our boat.
- Yes, good eyes on the tag. This Seal has been through a sanctuary at some point. Your Pa sounds like a good man, and you had a good childhood. Best wishes and have a lovely day. 😊
It’s probably been released from Seal Sanctuary at Greek, near Helston?
Gweek bloody autocorrect lol
When you have foraged it cooked it and sat on a beach in them conditions with them views would cost a fortune in a swanky restaurant makes it even more pleasurable to watch you and Paul make a good team
Paul and I had a blast. Im looking forward to filming with him again. 😊
Whitby is a beautiful place I lived in Bridlington for 6 years but went to Whitby every weekend love ❤️ it there xx 😘
Its a lovely place to visit isn't it. 👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker I’ve been watching you all week and I love ❤️ the way you talk about the different things and the wild flowers 💐 ect and I also like 👍 the conservation side of it as well only taking what you need is a good thing to do and putting it back where are you find it xx
This was very enjoyable, please do more in the future.
- We do play to have more collabs in the future. 😊
Cracking watch mate, Paul’s a great addition to the channel, I’ve joined his channel and watched some of his videos, be nice to see you trekking the woods on one of his trips 👍
- Thanks Danny. Yeah Paul has his own style but I enjoy his stuff. I hope to meet up with him again some time and do some more collabs, so yes - one in the woods would be good. 😊
Have a fractured spine atm so binge watching your videos only found your channel the other night really enjoying your videos so thank you 🙂
Crikey. I hope you are on the mend. We have a lot of content for you to be working through. Just give me a comment if you have any questions. 😊👍🏻
Thank you very kind 🙂 and im binge watching im hooked 😂 someone had to do it lol and your family are beautiful and that food looks amazing.
Life doesn’t get a lot better than that. Beautiful location, great food and company .
- I can agree with that mate. Good weather, good company and good food. What more could you ask for?
Hi John really enjoyed that one mate and I'll be having a look at Pauls site shortly. Paella look great and probably tasted twice as good along with the crabs and lobster. It would be good to see you up at Whitby with Paul on one of his foraging trips. Best wishes to all the Foot Locker Team.
Oh forgot to say that I've a mate who's ex RE that does urban foraging tours around North and East London
All the best mate
- Nice one mate. Paul has his own style but I really enjoy his stuff. It all tasted delicious. When you say "urban foraging" is that like eating stuff from folks gardens or going through the bins?haha.
@@TheFishLocker Just watch the foggy days hauling with yourself and Paul. Def got his own style which I'm sure I'm going to enjoy. Funny you should say gardens but yes he does look to see what is available especially in the un loved ones lol but its small woods, canal towpaths, parks etc and also teaching the "take only what you need" as some places have be decimated by those just after a free feed!!
Steven Norbury - Frustrating isn’t it. How selfish, greedy and ignorant people can be when it comes to that.
Was just looking for new videos to watch
- Then look no further. 😊
@@TheFishLocker indeed
Seems like Paul is not playing with that crab! I can totally relate! Enjoying the videos!
Haha. I think he's maybe had a bad experience with crabs before. 🤣🦀
Some years ago on holiday in Spain I ordered a much anticipated paella one evening, it looked amazing when they brought it to the table but was totally inedible because of pieces of broken shell from the cockles and mussel. I was absolutely gutted and have never ordered one again, glad you enjoyed yours.
I would have been gutted if that had happened!!
Ey oop, lads. John's accent seems to get just a little bit more Northern when he is with Paul.
- Its like the resultant field caused by connecting 2 magnets. A northerners northernness amplifies when he is in close proximity to another northerner. 😊
There are two types of English men you got John... an then theres Paul lmao
- Haha.
Great video John, nature touched but not disturbed. Keep em coming. cheers
- Thank you Miles, I hope that the mesas transfers across in the videos. Sustainable foraging should be low impact. Take only what you need and treat the natural world with respect and appreciation. 👍
My favourite channel online/tv anything,brilliant,👍
- Thanks Steve, take care mate 😊
I see you seem to 'renew' your Yorkshire accent when you're with Hays...?!??! :)
- Haha. I was just recharging my northern batteries 😊
every northerner that now lives down south does it when they are with fellow northerners haha
Hi whoever reads this
😊
I really enjoy watching your videos
I am very glad to hear that, best wishes and have a nice day. 😊
Yes I enjoy the video very much 👏🏻👏🏻 From your videos I learn many things about marine. It’s a precious knowledge for me 👍🏻
- Thank you Cecilia, it is our pleasure to share our knowledge with you. 😊
I don’t think Haze and you enjoyed yourself.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That meal in the States $300,easy.👍❤️it.
- Haha. We had a blast!! Cannot wait to meet up again. 😊
That’s really true James, they ate well for FREE.99
John do you have any tips with lobster pots because I got two pots the other day
Lochness Monsta I have
- There is also a video showing how I rig and shoot/haul the pots. 😊

Well that was fun boys!!! Paul gained a new subscriber in me with this one.

Great seeing you 2 together. Fantastic! Really enjoyed watching!
- Thank you very much. We had a fine time filming. 😊👍🏻🦞
@@TheFishLocker Just 1 more video to watch and i have finally caught up. Saving that one for tonight. Enjoy your day mate
22:11 - 22:14 what was that banshee voice in the back :o
- Haha. As coincidence would have it, that Banshee noise perfectly drowned out a curse word.
@@TheFishLocker Oh lol I thought it was just a glitch I forgot you did put coughing sounds for curse words lol
Great variety in this dive. Super filming John. ❤much love to all
Watching both versions of this collaboration!!! 100% the best. The banter was super funny. Just enjoyable to watch!
- Thank you. I enjoyed seeing both perspectives also. 😊
Yes it's a small world unless you have to walk.Nice vid as usual👍🤗🐻
- Haha. That is very true. 😊

Great video mate. So lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country
- It isn't hard to see why we love living here is it. 😊
Outstanding as always John. Thanks for uploading the video. Pleaser to watch. Kind regards Mike. Norfolk. 🐟🐟
- Thanks Mike. Im glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Great video again. A Paella needs some bread & wine 🍷🥖
- The bread I will agree with. The wine sadly, we were both driving after this so we had to make do with water. 😊
Fantastic underwater footage as always John. I find all your footage uplifting, but especially the underwater scenes.
I truly love the underwater footage, it is some of my favourite. 😊
Fantastic video John, what a day! 👍👍👍🇬🇧
- Thank you James. We had a great day. 😊
This makes me nostalgic on the times my Dad and I went fishing together every 5 am in the morning. I lived in the tropics, Philippines to be exact. My Dad and I either go to the mangrove forest to look for mud crabs or go out on a kayak to fish. Or when it's lowtide, we go looking for clams, mussels and octopuses that hides between jagged rocks. Those were the times.
- It sounds like a wonderful childhood, thank you for sharing that with us. 😊
Can't believe the weather down there, seemed like summer.
Last few vids you stated that it had been horrendous. You both had a cracking day foraging & I really enjoyed the banter. Thanks for a great vid John.
- Thats the thing down here mate. If you don’t like the weather. Wait half an hour - it’ll change. 😛
Brilliant pure brilliance, great video, great content, and very educational, cheers
- Thank you Eric. I am glad that you enjoyed it. 😊
pass the vancouver gulf island steamed mussels that cost me gold again honey .John is at it again with his pal this time. pinching my lobster. . My regards to another great video and feast Lad. Well done
We are really enjoying these shots under the water and the teaching. ..Hope my comments bring you a chuckle for what you give back to us.
- Aye mate. Back to the lobsters. Seasons starting to close out now so I don’t think we’ll have too many more over the next few months.
@@TheFishLocker I was always under the impression Shell fish could be caught eaten in the months with an R .so not in may June July August for molting. In Canada we are starting to get lobster. Why is your season closing. .sustainability? type. Would you educate me please.
Love the Fish Lockers cheeky smile
- Haha. Thank you. 😊
You two are brilliant. Thank you both for yet another wonderful half-hour of pure escapism. Bless you both.

What a wonderful way to start the day! Yes and those seals are always a bother! What a sunrise 🌅
- The sunrise just set the tone for an amazing day. Glad you enjoyed it mate.😊
Brilliant John great video two mates having a fun day lovely seal footage and what a cook up beats a cheese sandwich any day and a very nice speech about where not to collect seafood from very useful knowledge thanks John keep safe tight lines
- Thank you David. I hope the information helps folks out. Take care bud. 😊🦞🦀
Another great video John , can’t beat good weather, good company and good food. Tight lines

Mmmmmm Paella! Que rico!! Delicious 😋 Very chill video with your friend. I enjoyed the vibes.
- Thank you Vanessa, we were simply sharing a common passion. Two lads enjoying the sea. 😊👍🏻🐟🦞🦀
Every video is different, seeing seals in their own environment was excellent, the way you naturally film it makes it so much more special than when filmed in documentaries. The colourful wrasse especially the male cuckoo are outstanding. I'm almost forgetting that amazing sunrise and the beautiful scenery. Thanks for posting and yes further collaborations would be good.
- Those Wrasse are stunning aren't they. I do try to make the filming journey a fluid one, so the footage flows in a journey. Sometimes is works others it doesn't but I enjoy it all. 😊 Take care David and best wishes mate.
Brilliant watch, from a Algerino👍
