@@metalover2 Sure, but not every high level judoka ends up that good at BJJ in such a short time. I think we'll see a lot more of Owen over the next few years.

@@jordangill2710 yeah but Kaynan didn’t attempt to finish the fight. All of the attempts came from Craig. Feels boring to watch and eventually. He mounted and did nothing.

That’s Atos’s jam…to be fair, they are all positionally dominant on that team, but they do lack for consistent finishes against commensurate talent unless it’s the Ruotolo’s.
@@jordangill2710this has happened, Gordon ended up taking his back toward the end of the match and riding it out like that. No one was ever in much danger before that though
I’m new to no gi grappling/bjj. Whats the common opinion on sitting down and pulling guard as apposed to looking for a more aggressive takedown attempt ? The tactic this gentleman is taking seems to be conceding the stand up element but is that commonly done and considered a perfectly acceptable tactic ? Again I’m just starting take it easy I don’t know I’m sure this is a stupid question just trying to educate myself.

It's sportification. They can't get pinned, slammed, or punched in the face so they just sit down and don't bother with stand up. There's good reasons no one tries it in MMA anymore (except Kron Gracie and he lost big time), it's embarrassing.
@chuckgreen3629 Thing is they could attempt like a sacrifice throw, tomoe nage or something & end up in guard position. I watched a few Kosen Judo videos & that's how they start the transition a lot of the time, don't often go for shoulder throws where their back could be taken.
These matches should be reset to zero and clock removed and just let them go until someone gets tapped.
Whole match with no attempts, tons of stalling and a lame win on points.

kaynan who just destroyed this guy quite easily , 2x adcc champion, got oblitared by gordon. Theres not a grappler alive that has a chance against gordon, and no, it isnt the steroids, since EVERYONE on adcc is on roids.
I met Owen livesy at a seminar and I can 100% guarantee is that he has NEVER used any steroids. It’s all about technique. And to be honest I think gordon Ryan is the only one out there who is cheating. The rest of them speak against steroid use !! Nick Rodriguez and John Craig’s are natural like Owen.

@supern0is349 Lots of U.K. black belts tell me that Owen would destroy Gordon. Owen destroyed Josh Barnett and ragdolled Nick Rod. Also I met Owen at a seminar and he spoke out against steroids ! So he’s clearly not on them

He's the same ref that gave kaynan 7 negatives for stalling, nobody knows how, he also gave Gordon Ryan a warning while he had one arm trapped in the back and he was trying to dig for the rear naked. I think he made a lot of questionable decisions to say the least.

The referee should of told the brazilian to earn his take down. Butt flopping and falling to the ground should not be allowed.
This match is a prime example of why Jiujitsu will never be in the Olympics. Boring as hell!!!
This argument never made sense to me. Football is in the Olympics, and situations crop up in football where it's literally in the interest of both teams to play for a draw. Those matches are insanely awful to watch, and actually border on a kind of corruption. Nobody cares though. Every sport can have horribly boring matches. That's far from the problem when it comes to getting submission grappling into the Olympics.

BJJ doesnt need to be in the olympics and the IBJJF would lose a lot of money so they will never allow it.

Dont even get me started on TKD, its the most boring and harmless martial art ever, you cant even get a KO because the olimpic comitee think its too violent. Judo and TKD have less viewers and make less money. High level bjj atheletes are making as much as UFC top10 UFC fighters. Is any of these martial arts in the UFC invitational?If it's so amazing to watch, why do they all have less viewers?

boxing is NOTORIOUS for the direct ties with cartel's laundry money schemes, udo have been baning techniques to protect the japanes and TKD have even banned KOs because "its too violent".AThletes have zero autonomy over their carreers and must do what the olimpic comitee says, but yes they're so amazing to watch that they have less viewers than BJJ as whole
