The Secret Ingredient I put into Princes William and Harrys Chocolate Brownies!

- I love this recipe. It brings back happy memories of Princes William and Harry as you boys. I'd serve them with ice cream, usually chocolate and they would sit around the table on a Saturday night at Kensington Palace watching TV and wolfing them down, seeing who could eat the most. Of course, I always had spare in the kitchen. Oh I would love for them both to sit together today over a plate of brownies and ice cream and become friends again.
It's easy to make and kids (and adults) love it. Try this recipe at home.

Absolute chocolate decadence. Please keep these delicious, nostalgic, storied recipes coming chef!
Edges are the best part! Poor Willie and Haz never knew what they were missing!
Brownies are the perfect chocolate fix for me, half-way between a candy bar and cake. I love the chew & fudgy versions best, a mixture of coconut oil & butter makes for a really chewy texture. Chocolate & espresso are a match made in heaven, topped with Haagen Dazs coffee ice cream makes it swoon worthy.
Love these videos of the food you prepared for Harry and William! Please keep them coming!
My Grandmother was from England and she always made the best brownies. It remains a favorite family recipe.
Chef, I know you may not see this, but I made these last night and these are amazing (minus the espresso). Thank you again so much for sharing this.
I LOVE this. show. Being bed ridden and loving recipes, I could and often watch them multiple times! Please keep the recipes coming! I also love your personality! And Winston’s of course
Thank you. lucky Will and Harry.
Brownies were the first dessert I learned to bake and successfully make from scratch! Still one of my favorite desserts to this day, especially since chocolate desserts are at the top of my list! I baked brownies from scratch for my best friend once in college to cheer her up from something that happened back then. But yeah, I have heard espresso is great in brownies, but I would never be able to have brownies in the evening if that was the case. Wouldn’t be able to fall asleep.
Thank you Chef McGrady, looks amazing ❤
Thanks for sharing ❤brownie 😋 🇨🇦
I love to watch you make all sorts of recipes, especially the ones for Princess Diana and the boys. The stuffed red peppers is a regular in our house! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful recipes!
These look scrumptious! Will definitely make! Thank you!
Pure decadence. Looks Awesome! Thank you so much.
Thank You so much, Royal Chef McGrady!
Fabulous!
I am extremely tempted to add a Chocolate Ganache frosting!
❤❤❤
😘
Hope you are well Darren and always so sweet and best dad husband and your family is so lucky to have you and amazing person and absolutely iconic and legendary of cooking and baking ❤😊❤
OMG!!! Those look SOOO good!!!! :)
Absolutely delicious! I wonder if William and Harry watch your videos and miss these wonderful meals and treats? I know I would!
That looks totally delicious! I must say that I would definitely go for the soft centred variety.
Darren you have a wonderful personality!
I'm with you, trim the edges and enjoy! I love the edges, and the crust on pies!
Excellent tip that works! I read in a cookbook long ago... always add a bit of espresso [or even just a small bit of dry instant coffee] to any chocolate recipe. You won't taste the coffee flavor but it SO enhances the chocolate! I think it has the same effect as vanilla does - you don't usually taste vanilla in anything you bake, but you WOULD miss it if it wasn't there. Thanks, Darren - love watching your videos!
Brownies so delicious thank for this video. Hi from Puerto Rico ❤.
Soooo AWESOME! A drizzle of a good caramel sauce is superb! Include Butterscotch or Peanut Butter chips! 👍👍👍
I like the breadkdown of how to get the different textures of brownies! no mystery now...
I love this recipe. Watching from 🇺🇸🫶🏽
Espresso brownies are my favorite. I use espresso chocolate chips in my brownies. Nestles makes them and ohh they are so good. Brownies are excellent with espresso coffee chip Gelato. Its a step up from the norm dessert.
You are always so amazing love your positive energy and you are amazing and inspiring ❤
Wait a minute... The edges of brownies are literally the best part. Eating the pieces that come out of the corners are the best out of the whole batch.
This is really simple and elegant recipe! Just seen and tried it.. thank you so much chef for sharing this recipe!!
Another great recipe! Can't wait to try them!!
I was right when I guessed what your secret ingredient was! (we have the same one) And when I was being fancy I put a peanutbutter icing on mine.
Can't wait to try these--they should be very good anti-dementor fare! Your videos always cheer us up!
Every time I hear someone pronounce espresso as expresso I die a little, but yes, just as its great to have a bit of coffee in chocolate to enhance the chocolate flavor, in a coffee dessert its great to have a bit of chocolate as well. Or a Texas style chili for that matter. Definitely going to try this recipe.
There is a chocolate cake I learned long ago, that is a modified version of what we in sweden calls kladdkaka (sticky cake) which is a chewy goey chocolate cake. But the trick to this one is that you add a layer of tosca like topping, basically you boil sugar, syrup, cream and butter and then put in a lot of coconut flakes. That mixture you then spread on top of the chocolate cake.
I made this and are delicious!! Thanks a lot!
These brownies look so good, fudgy/chewy kind are my favorite.
My favourite brownies? Yes, please.
Yes...edges were my favorite too ☺️
Yum can’t wait to make them!
Your videos are so cheerful, interesting and fun to watch! Love the animation and music...and Winston!!
This is such a fun video!
I learnt to bake brownies from scratch as a newlywed in Australia - no box mixes existed.
We love very dense chewy brownies - and my secret was to use whole wheat flour and raw sugar. We also love VERY chocolate, so I use cocoa powder, then added chocolate chips instead of nuts, and then...
Spread chocolate chips on the hot brownies to melt, and when everything cooled, added a layer of Nutella on top.
Yummy. Will definitely be tried.
Thanks for the recipe and the measurements by weight ❤
Best looking brownies I’ve ever seen. I would pay good money for a tray of these.
Greetings from California. Massive thanks for sharing this Royal recipe for brownies, Chef Darren McGrady. Excellent cooking show. Happy holidays from our channel: Australian Parakeets Stars * Prince Alexander
My favorite brownies are the ones I'm eating. Not too picky, but without nuts. Thank you, these look marvelous.
Thank you ever so much Sir for your tasty lesson I will prepare this 1:1 in the coming days. Greetings from Ukraine!
Thank you very much for the recipe. Have a nice day from Morelia city, Michoacán state, México. Congratulations Chef!
Thank you chef! Brownies are wonderful any way presented
My favorite brownies are the ones I used to make at a bakery I worked at. They had both melted chocolate and cocoa powder in them, and I would always drop a dollar in the cash box to have one for myself when I sold them at the farmer's market. My mom's recipe for one-pot cocoa brownies were very good as well, and those were easier and less complicated than the ones I made at work. If I make bourbon balls, that calls for dry brownie crumbs rehydrated with bourbon, so a box mix works better in that case because they tend to be drier than brownies made from scratch.
Love the little add-in to the brownies that made young William and Harry climb the walls! 😂 Oh, if Nanny ever found out?? Did she?? That story was a hoot! Love your show Darren and all the adventures that makes this show so amazing and yummy. 💖
I love your recipes and your stories sir!
How easy and looks delicious! I will bake it tomorrow!
Thank you, what a fun to watch!
I was enthralled watching and listening to you present your recipe. You seem to put love into your cooking! They looked delicious.😊❤
For new bakers, the type of cocoa used, along with the espresso, will determine the acidity and texture of the brownie, as well.
Love the bowl!
I remember having brownies at the Palmer House. I like them fudgey, cakey, gooey, hot, cold....I just love a good brownie (and espresso coffee powder is my similar secret ingredient). I love Black Walnuts in mine to make them taste old fashioned.
My favorite brownies are all of them.
That does look delicious!
I am enjoying your videos so much!! Now I can give my grands expresso brownies and send them home to my daughter lol
I've always like having some chopped walnuts in my brownies. I feel it balances out all that sweet. I never knew or heard of adding a bit of espresso to the mix! I guess that's why Chef Darren calls it his "secret" ingredient 😄
I always add a bit of coffee granules or an espresso shot in any chocolate cake I make. It really does make a difference. Just don’t put too much or you’ll end up with a mocha flavoured cake. Which isn’t a bad thing tbh!
@@duallove6909 looks like Chef Darren only added a tablespoon of the brew.
My grandmother used to make a chocolate cake that also contained coffee. This was in the 70s. I think even a bit of instant coffee granules (added to liquid) perks up the chocolate flavor! (I prefer pecans, but yes, I agree with you about the walnuts @stephaniecowans3646 )
Good recipe. It looks to be adaptable, too. Definitely going to give it a go. Thanks Darren. 😀
I made it this evening and it tasted absolutely beautiful and we all loved it. Love your videos and you always make me smile and it's warm and infectious smiles and wonderful personality. Thank you for sharing this recipe ❤😊
Thank you very much for this video.
Delicious recipe to bake and of course to share with family and friends!
Have a wonderful day everyone 🥰
Excellent merci 👩🍳 chef
love this man,well done
Yum! I LOVE brownies!!
That looks delicious 😋
Got to give this one a go😊❤🎉 Thank you Chef.
You are always the best🎉
Wow! Love the recipe and your video yumms 😋😋
My favorite recipe will now be yours.I will only add walnuts instead of chocolate chips at end. Maybe add another egg and a little baking powder to try out. Your original looks great. My favorite is Betty's in the bag. Next time I will think outside the bag. John T.
Another great video, Chef! Always interesting and informative with easy to make recipes. I miss Winston, though! 😢
What happened to him?
Very nice chef! ❤️💜💙🧡❤️
Yummy ❤ thank you Darren
Looks delish!
A small tip is to add frozen cherries before baking.
Those brownies are so beautiful and piece of art and amazing and well done Darren ❤
Looks so delicious Darren I loves your channel 😮
They look absolutely decadent. Going to have a go at making them.
Thank you!! You made them perfectly😊❤
Wellp I’m gonna have to make these!
This is so exciting!
Your title got me. I thought - Hummmm, William and Harry's pot brownies! Hahahah!
I knew it was espresso, it's a gamechanger if you've never made it with.
Haven’t seen a video in a while! Hope you’re well and can’t wait for a new video! Would love to see delicious fall/early winter items!!
Coming soon!
Delicious!❤
Mu fav brownies are warm fudge caramel swirl with vanilla ice cream. Ommmnomnom
A shot of espresso? Nice. I might sling in a glug of brandy while I'm at it. Yeah baby yeah!
Harry probably upset with William getting a bigger brownie
And more of the chocolate chips …
I like my brownies fudgy, thick and with Maraschino cherries and walnuts with a drizzle of semi-sweet chocolate and sea salt on top. 😋🥰
This is the first I've known of brownies in the UK. And the Queen ate them! I'd known she loved chocolate. I've been under the impression that brownies are uniquely North American. I prefer cake-like with walnuts.
I'll have to try putting that shot of espresso in our scratch brownies. Most people don't know how right you are about the difference between boxed and scratch brownies. My family loves it when I make turtle brownies. They prefer pecans to walnuts.
Thank you.
Oh I'm going to try these - I find it interesting that I don't like coffee but in chocolate cakes I think it's so good, like you said it kind of deepens the flavour.
Thanks for sharing this! I love brownies. This is similar to a recipe that we used to make. It was on the back of bags of Nestle`s chocolate chips, next to the Toll House cookies recipe, which was a good recipe, IF they were baked thickly in a smaller than 9x13" pan.
my favorite brownies are videos with more winston please
My first time seeing him use vanilla extract!!
My favorite brownies are thick and fudge, with a nice shiny crackle top. I do make some incredibly bodacious homemade brownies with added chocolate chips, and no coffee.
I have subscribed your channel. You make amazing chocolate brownie. I will make them for sure.
I knew it was coffee 😂 I agree coffee makes brownies much much better!
Love them with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge.
