YES! Pounded yam! And is amazing 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🔥🔥🔥
I’ve never have, since there aren’t any Nigerian restaurants near me
NEVER
Yes, my wife is Nigerian, and I've visited Nigeria a few times. I've learned to make Ewa, plantain, Pepper chicken, Joloff rice, and moyin moyin,....oh and egusi stew and pommo,...livers and goat stew,.mmmmmmm, wonderful!
Notice how they weren’t rude about the stuff they weren’t too keen about 😀 it is possible to not like something without being rude
They kinda were just in a subtle way, like smelling it before you eat it and being “surprised”
@@staytruealways207 I don't think so. I'm a foodie and like to absorb every aspect of the meal I'm excited to eat. The smell, the taste on my palate, swallowing it..I just love to take it all in and assess everything together. My mom didn't like I did that though but I think it's a cultural myth that smelling food is like saying the food looks nasty, whereas smelling actually begins the process of enjoying the meal.
Nah that wasn't being disrespectful@@staytruealways207
@@staytruealways207 or maybe, just maybe, they were being cautious because it's something new the might not like 😮
I'm Nigerian-American, grew up eating Nigerian food. Mexican food is my top favorite outside of Nigerian food! It's cool to realize that they are so similar in taste lol
Nigerian American? Is that a thing
@@tsheposeeletso6475 might have parents from both countries
@@tsheposeeletso6475yes it is . She has nigerian parents and is American
I’m guessing
@@tsheposeeletso6475what do you call someone born in America to Nigerian parents?
I just love the woman in purple, she's just so accommodating ❤...so warm😊
She's awesome 👍🏾 I think I've seen her before tasting Jamaican food. ❤
I love her too
Mamah number 2 is very scared
Less threatening I guess? 😂😂😂
and she took that plantain down like a real one.
Pepper soup is great for a hangover or cold , goes well with white rice 🍚
The best food when you're ill... Pepper Soup
Yh you got it
And also boiled yams or unripe plantains
Ponmo should be juicy from soaking in stew for a whole day. We need a redo with me cooking those foods
No, you need to apply to the "Nigerian men cook" show and show us your skills so the Internet can judge you accordingly
The fact they liked the punishment drinks it wasn’t even a punishment after all 😂
As a Mexican that loves Nigerian culture, I am soooo happy to watch this!!! 🥰🤩
That’s cool
I’m Nigerian and believe me, we love y’all too
Some Mexicans got Nigerian DNA
@@maryjs4878 yeah. The Afro Mexicans
@@rickyronny4019 And even the ones that aren't afro Mexicans. If.. you know what I mean..
As I Nigerian… my mouth was droolingggggg. Egusi is my favourite soupppppp. Nice to see them appreciate our food 🤤
Ikr! That Moi moi was calling my name 😂
The person that cook that Egusi didn’t cook it well
@@Love-ng6juim glad im not the only one that noticed 😭 looked super watery
I’m not Nigerian, but my husband is and my mouth was drooling as well! The egusi and the moi moi 😍🤤.
They were being nice
As a Nigerian-Am. that loves Mexican food😋, I’m really happy to see the Mamas try Nigerian food and say some remind them of Mexican dishes! Love tamales cus it reminds me of moin-moin🇳🇬💚
Much love, we are all connected 💕✨🪬 I love me some Mexican food too but I also love me some fufu and stewed okra lol
Same I remember trying nacatamles in Nicaragua and people were saying I might not like it, it’s an acquired taste etc. first bite and I was like this is moi moi, it’s not made with all the same ingredients but somehow it’s moi moi from the taste lol
I know, right!!! I love tamales and spanish rice. Mexican cuisine is one of my fav.
Uhm, honey we call it "moi-moi" tho 😅
@@kinganyib738Not her
As a Nigerian born in the US, I’m so happy they’re trying our food 😆 And also It looks like Lupe is losing weight 😍
So she is losing weight. I thought I was trippin for a moment there 💀
Just returned from the US, San Antonio TX had a very good Nigerian shop, with almost all the exotic stuff found in Nigeria. That night we had smoked turkey, plantain, black eyed beans with pepper sauce,...and rice of course. Nigerian shop near me here in the UK, has most foods, but very expensive, Birmingham is the best for choice.
‼️‼️
Pounded yam is SO good! 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
garri(eba) is better 😌
@@ikwuamaesi4027 no way💀 pounded yam or amala is better than Eba
@@Tonislays 😂 it is! 100% especially with okra and egusi ...oh and owho 🤤
They are so polite!! Thank you for allowing me to try. I love Nigeria food ❤❤❤❤
As a nigerian in nigeria this is awesome to see !!!
P.s they are commenting about the dishes being too spicy and I don't think they made those dishes are as spicy as we do in the continent
Right? I thought so too lol
If someone says it's spicy, it is spicy. I don't like spicy foods either, and the same dish that's spicy to me may not be spicy to another. My mum's Yoruba and I don't eat a lot of pepper 🌶️
It's actually spicy... I think they make Nigerian food intentionally spicy in America to establish the fact that Nigerian food is spicy...
In Nigeria, we don't make our food that spicy...
@@davidolujinmi1919 are you sure ?
Because my uncle was in America last Christmas and that was not his experience
@@vershima69 I guess... Plus habanero pepper which Nigerians living in America like to opt for is very very very spicy... Far more spicy than any pepper we have in Nigeria
My question is who cook that ogbono soup and fish pepper soup cause na small thing dey make me vex ,why is it so plain...... Osi m it taste like tea ( a whole pepper soup) taste like tea 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just dey vex. Everything looks so bland. Nothing like quality Nigerian food
Omo my own complaint nah the egusi............. didn't look proper at alllllllo 😂
Agree almost made me mad like i had to go cook for them
You! Thank you.
I was about to comment this then decided to go through the comments first.
Whoever made them needs to go back to cooking school.
@@a.c.2214I agree with you. The egusi looked soooo bland. No substance at all 😂
As a Nigerian, that ogbono is not drawing and the pepper soup looks more like gutter water.
But I really enjoyed the video and the women’s reaction in all.
Yeah even the egusi sef no look good
Yep those two looked especially off
I’d say don’t compare people’s food to gutter water
Yeah.. the ogbono isnt slimy, the egusi didn't look good, the pepper soup 😢
The pepper soup made me cry a bit
It’s nice seeing Mom’s get together and enjoy food from different countries
@@banxzzgocrazyyI subscribe
As a Nigerian, if my food aint spicy, i might have a bad day 😂. Y’all did amazing ❤
I like that they all liked their punish sodas 😂😂😂
In Nigeria, particularly within the Yoruba culture, the consumption of spicy foods holds significant prominence. Indeed, there exists a widely known adage that characterizes individuals who abstain from or express disdain for spice as lacking in fortitude.
The spice in nigerian food is actually often habanero peppers! my mom grows them in her garden and freezes gallon bags full. she cooks it with the seed and all, she just blends them up with water and adds to the food 😂
the traditional chili is actually scotch bonnets, but Habanero's are a common substitute for Nigerians in the west because they are extremely similar because they are closely related. the only difference in taste is that scotch bonnets are sweeter
Nigerian here, we use a lot of scotch bonnets aswell
@@sanisecond scotch bonnet and habanero are the same thing I thought?
@@dreadlocdfairy no, there closely related but they are different, like I said Scotch bonnets are a bit sweeter than habanero's but they are roughly equally hot. the Habanero is the best substitute for scotch bonnets in Nigerian food. I live in Australia and can't get scotch bonnets so I use habanero's for that reason.
@sanisecond we use habaneros too in Nigeria, but you're right. scotch bonnets are our first choice.
That peppersoup was not peppersouping 😂 Who made that?😂
My sister. Na the ogbono na im pain me pass. So bland. That's a punishment ogbono.
Nigerian food is really hard to make. Getting it at a restaurant can be hit or miss. If you want really good Nigeria food your best bet would be to find a Nigerian mom to cook for you lol
Nothing makes me happier than seeing them eating with their hands and also leatning about our culture!!

I love the Chola that calls everyone "fool".
😂😂😂😂 that's EXACTLY what I said!!!
Love her 😊
RIGHT ON!
When the chili has so much rizz it takes the game away from the goat. That chili is bad ass.
Not eating swallow like flatbread🤣❤️
Was waiting for the host to mention it
Thank you I thought I was the only one who saw that
Yayyyy Ive ben waiting for them to try African food! Rhank you! Im a Black American and felt like Jollof was a spicier and tad bit more flavorful Spanih rice! I told my Latina friend thisn when I first tried it that it tadtes just like it! Egusi is good but idk if its the texture I cant get with or what. But I love West African food. I think its so crazy how alot of African and Caribbean foods have similarities with Latin foods.
Because it's All from One place bby
The Original; Africa
Yea Spanish rice has zero flavor. Not a fan!
They all have historical ties to each other
Take me to Nigeria 😂
Does she not know where Mexican & Spanish rice comes from? Heck a lot of Mexican food is rooted in African cooking.😅
False. It comes from indigenous cooking
@@kylelemm3516No lol. Rice is indigenous to West Africa, not Mexico.
@@kylelemm3516Many Mexicans got Nigerian DNA and they don't even know it.
Rice is indigenous to Africa, way before the intruders came and took it around the world.
Very true. Actually, rice is indigenous to many parts of Africa and originated in Africa. Through trade thousands of years ago, it made its way to Asia. I studied this.
Did she just say she'd try ogbono with rice? 😹
I love how they are welcoming, fair and non judgemental about the meals. ❤
If it wasn’t for our African enslaved ancestors, Latin and Caribbean food wouldn’t be what it is today. So dope to see Mamas, trying African cuisine…let’s do Haitian food next!!❤ much love
wait, did tomato salsas and chilis not exist in the Americas before 1700s? always thought potatoes were from the Americas too, way before europeans arrived?
@@krono5elThey did, they spread from there.
That’s a lie lol
@@javyjuarez8877 It’s a bit of a generalization but definitely not a lie by any means.
sorry but no, latin american cuisine is heavily influenced by Native Americans, best cuisines in Latin America are Peru and Mexico two nations with heavy Native American influences, youll never find Puerto Rico, Cuba or DR on any top cuisine list anywhere in the world so stop it, you are erasing Native American influences LMAO ill stick with Mexican food and you can keep your black african influence cuisine
Last month, i had fufu and the stew for the first time and boy, that was delicious
Pounded yam and egusi is everything
I never had Nigerian food, but I would love to try it.
You should. But I must ask, can you handle spice?
'Cause our foods are spicy and peppery.
@@toruwaltfr my mum has now reduced the spice in her food because I can’t handle it😭 and she like “you know you are Nigerian,” lol
The sodas 😂
Lulu: Bacon
Monica: Sweet corn
Lupe: Peanut butter and jelly
Have them try ethiopian food
I want to try Ethiopian food
They should
West African cuisine uses a lot of spices that are endemic to the region, were domesticated there, and aren’t found anywhere else in the world.
Really love this; and so wholesome review and loved their genuine interest. No one said anything bad about it either which is great to see.
Yes! Thanks For this! Love mamahs❤❤❤❤❤
One of the things I’m so grateful for is that as an American, my taste buds are exposed to just about everything. I can honestly say I love (Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Ethiopian, Dominican, and so much more) My favorite is Jamaican food tho. There’s just something about their use of spice and sweet and the slow cooking methods.
Watching them complain of how spicy the dishes are makes me laugh 😂😂. If you give most Nigerians food without the normal amount of pepper in it, makes most of us want to throw up after eating.
This is awesome! These ladies are so sweet and the personalities are 100! Love it! ❤
The lady in jean jacket is life😂
They’re so kind and lovely.
I love this! I love that they are open to trying new foods- They were all cordial & the woman with the glasses was funny 😂
Thank you for introducing us to the world... very insightful opinions ❤❤❤
These Mamas are so sweet❤.
Thank you to these lovely women for being so respectful and open-minded
I love every bit of the video 😅. The mom on wine top loves all the dishes 😊😂😂
Loved the lil quiz session😁😁
~ They’re all so great in camera. Love this. 💯
Egusi and moi moi are LIFE!!
They were fun to watch and they knew their food, especially with the kponmo.😊
The mama that kept saying fuuuu had me😂😂
After watching Bob🩷Abishola and seeing this…man now I want to try Nigerian food, like
Now. 😅
You should.
Our foods are really nice.
Watching a Mexican mom explore Nigerian cuisine is such a delightful cultural exchange! It's wonderful to see her enjoying the rich and diverse flavors. Food truly brings us all together!"💖🩷💖🩷💖❤️
I love this video!
Yay! Mi país ❤
Chili is the MVP! GOAT! Hearth please ❤❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thoroughly enjoyed this video
"This looks very Mexican" Yeah because African influence is in everything no matter how much people try to deny it.
Yup
Cause we were and Are Everywhere
It's the Original after all
It’s true. Africa has influenced so many cultures
@@EmpressAshecap, the origin is mesopotamia.
@@lugi25lmao what.
Stop clowning!!! Cassava is not even native to Africa but south America
The cook didn't do the dishes justice... aside that I think the mamas were fantastic ❤❤❤
When the Spanish came they brought with them recipes from West Africa and one of them included what people call Jollof rice. Spanish rice is a rendition of it.
They are all so beautiful.
This looks so good bro
Hahahaha loved this 🥰
I love that they enjoy the food 😍
This is so amazinggg ♥️🇳🇬🇳🇬
Oh these ladies are delightful
It’s cool to see Hispanic folks try Nigerian food
As a Nigerian none of those dishes look right, maybe the jolllof but I wouldn't touch the rest. It just looks very wrong, next time go to an authentic Nigerian restaurant.
Yeah seriously was upset
Especially the ogbonno and eguisi
@@mercyegwurubeotsepa9721and the pepper soup, it looked nothing like pepper soup.
@MissTracyyy223 yeep! She was spot with that one it looked like tea 😂😅
The pepper soup!😭

Those sodas are interesting - not Nigerian - but interesting

Nigerian food smacks! Once I tried it, I was hooked.
food wil always bring people together, and is interesting that sometimes we eat the same food just prepared in a different way
