it is not directly related to the topic, but it is an open question for me. In what way were they able to depict Constantinople from above, if there were no airplanes at the time that could allow them to rise so high that they could accurately see the proportions and the shape of the peninsula.
@gabihorvath3106 The City is visible from many different points from various hills inside and outside the walls, as well as from the sea by boat. This allows for someone to have a better view than most of the other famous cities in the world. You're assuming it was accurate... but you can also measure on foot, then draw with perspective.
