      When referencing Elliott's rock band Heatmiser, they mistakenly circled the wrong person when mentioning his co-vocalist/guitarist Neil Gust. There may have been other things, but that was the one i noticed and pointed out. It's cool they bothered to fix it. Most wouldn't have.

      Agreed, but just so you know, Elton John didn’t write his own lyrics. Bernie taupin wrote all of his songs.

    Why didn't you include the fact that the album was heavily influenced by Soren Kierkegaard's book of the same name? Seems like a bit of an oversight.

    I listen to this album religiously. So amazing and criminally underrated, should be up there with Sgt Pepper’s and Pet Sounds. Love u Elliott, thanks for everything 💜💜

Writing and then playing intricate guitar arrangements while singing perfectly at the same time, often 2 to 3 times over in a complete take straight to tape is not 'ridiculously easy' and there has never been an artist since Elliott that has achieved that sound to such a high standard. Period.

    My very first introduction to Elliott Smith and it just blew me away. I then bought all his other albums up to that point and became a fan ever since. RIP

    Songs certainly do mean specific things, but it's up to the listener to decide what the songs mean to them and what it means to their life.

    Rose Parade is about being forced by friends to take a part in "happy" event, when you are depressed and feel like shit, literally unable to feel happy.
    It's not anti-capitalist lol

      @ayeayeayeist No, there is nothing in those lyrics that point to capitalism or ant-capitalism. The song is very open about it being about Elliot's depression and misery. I say this as a massive Elliot Smith fan who's listened to this album countless times

      Yeah rose parade is about being high on drugs (opiates) and miserable and forced to fake pretend you're okay when you're out at a parade with your friends. It's about depression and drug use it has less then nothing to do with capitalism

    It is not true that Miss Misery is an outtake from Either/Or. He did however record an early version of Miss Misery a few months after recording Either/Or, but that version is significantly different from the one that ended up in Good Will Hunting.

      Well obviously Elliott Smith was an intellectual, so he must've hidden deeper meanings in his lyrics. "Throwing out candy that looks like money" was obviously a stab at the U.S.'s lackadaisical demeanor towards capitalism, and it's so-called democratic standings......this was meant as sarcasm, but now it sounds like someone smart could've said it, rather than me. ANTI-CAPITALIST!!!!! COMMIE!!! 9/11!!!! HOLIDAY TERRORISM!!!! MEDIA!! THE CHURCH!!! yeah. someone smart....
