Me *staring at my F100*: WHY CAN'T YOU BE MORE LIKE THAT!?!?
Hahahaha hey the F100 is an excellent camera as well
I can’t believe someone finally did a review of this. I couldn’t never find on UA-cam.
Yes, they DO still make them, in batches of 50 when demand comes along.
i think we need more reviews and sample photos for the F6 - so far theres less than 10 on youtube:-( how sad
My new F6 arrived today. It comes with a 3-year warranty and I know for a fact it has never been mishandled.
PS Nikon and Leica have their lenses going on the RIGHT way. Everyone else has it the wrong way. You get too easily fucked, it seems.
P.P.S I agree with you. It's the perfect Nikon film camera. (Or any 35mm film camera)
Excellent video! I'm very eager to get a F6.
I own the same two lenses and use them with my D850. I actually sold the kit 24-120 f4 just because it's so much softer than the 50mm and the 135mm DC...
Now, DC (I own one for 5 years, bought new):
- when you keep it in the middle, it is indeed the sharpest. It's actually incredibly sharp, but it takes a very good (and aligned) AF system to get it going. I always thought it was too soft but only after I moved from the D7000 to the D850 I could see how good it is.
- you can still get 90% of the sharpness by setting the DC ring to the same aperture you are using, but it shifts the focus position a bit and it takes a very precise camera to get it right (live view brings excellent results).
- if you go beyond the aperture - like you are on f2 but set the DC to f4, then you get an optical soft focus effect. Things that kids these days do in Photoshop...
- the focus ring is DELICIOUS.
It's creamy even in the middle - it just gets creamier when you set DC to the same aperture. If you want the back focus to look better, use the rear option. But then be careful because the foreground boken will be kinda harsh (and vice versa).
What's incredible about this lens is that it was designed to make the skin look better OPTICALLY. I can't recall the source now, but it was designed so the lens is a tad softer on skin tones. Clever, isn't it?
This lens is the main reason I didn't go mirrorless, as it won't autofocus with the FTZ adapter.
Actually, word is they are still producing the F6 today in 2019.
It looks like you are correct! I did a bit of digging and it looks like the production line for the F6 is still going
They are brand new at b&h photo in America for $2500. Sometimes they are out of stock as nikon essentially makes them to order.
Rumour has it, they make them in batches, rather than a continuous production line.
Just found your channel through this video and was devastated to see you haven't uploaded after this. Hope you're doing okay!
I'm doing okay, just been focusing on other things at the moment. I hope to get back into making videos about cameras I love
When you pull out that built-in lens hood, if you twist it, you can actually screw it in a little tighter and lock it in place.
THEY STILL MAKE THOSE IN 2020 !!!
THAT'S INSANE
This comment didnt age well.
I hope I am wrong though. It is as of now, unconfirmed.
I use the exposure bracketing on occasion, mainly when I’m concerned about shadow detail. I'll set the exposure bracketing to take an additional shot with 2/3 or 1 stop of additional exposure.
I bought a new F6 from BHP last year. In part because I wanted the experience of having a new film camera vs a used one, but the primary reason is that a vast majority of the used F6 out there were not imported to the USA which means US Nikon won't work on them. The reason for bracketing on a film camera is more for when your shooting slide film which has lower tolerance for exposure failures than negative film.
You're quite wrong. These are indeed still made in the Sendai factory as needed. They generally do runs of about 50 at a time, and there is no plan to discontinue these, nor the Nikon FM10. (Which is made by Cosina for Nikon.)
..Joe
Oh yeah I was corrected by a few people. I feel like I should add a notation to the video
Like 252 👍👍
Thanks for sharing friend 🔥💯✅
They are still making the new ones! Very few but they are still being assembled next to the DSLRs in Japan
As an F6 enthusiast, I am curious how you know this. I remember an article saying that two guys were still working on F6 production and making around 50 per month. But that was probably 5 years ago. Thank you.
@@lanatrzczka the F6 is still in production today. Nikon never discontinued it.
Nikon USA and B&H and Adorama say they are still being made, still on their websites. Perhaps parts are new old stock, but retailers get a few in, sell out right away, and then get more. That been happening every few months for the 2 years I’ve been tracking it. It’s not like Canon EOS-1V that was discontinued and disappeared in a few months.
It can't best the viewfinder of the f2. The camera every person who wears glasses love
I'm still hoping to try an F2 eventually! I'm hoping to get a FM2 soon
Hmmm didnt know about that, I'll have to look into that camera. The olympus om-1 has the best viewfinder but its not so good with glasses so it might cut a corner. so id like to see the f2.
@@DrunkCameraReviews as a user of the FM I can't reccomend it enough. It's all you need in a camera, nothing more and it's really non-distracting and still manages to look really good. The FM2 with its wider range of shutter speeds can't be any worse!
Shutter speed can go down to 30 minutes! (not just 30 seconds). Check out the manual, and the check out the youtube video by "Film Photography Channel" for confirmation.
Oh yes I do know that. I forgot to mention it in the video as there is just too much to cover for this camera!
Fuck! Well done bro!!!!Great video!! Finally find a new nikon F6 review, I already got a F4 and F5 and I’m considering if I should buy a F6 these days ~help me lol
More reviews please!
I'm working on a new one that should be ready to upload next month 👍

I'll be precise and honest with my opinion. I like that video, you are talking with passion. The only thing I would point out is I'm not sure if you are prepared 100% there is too much ''kinda'' for my taste I would like the review to be more scripted and factual than personal again this is my approach and opinion only. Cheers
Thanks for making this review. I am currently doing my research on the F6. I have the 105mm f2 DC lens, which is the "younger sibling" of the 135mm f2 DC that you have. They both produce very creamy looking bokeh. Based on my understanding, to get the best results, you have to set the defocus control to the same aperture that you are shooting with. Ideally, you will set the defocus control aperture going towards "R" (rear defocus). You can also use the "F" (front defocus) apertures. However, many people think that the results do not look natural with "F" because the objects in front of your focus point will be blurred instead of objects behind the focus point. If you are using a smaller aperture such as f4, you can set the defocus control to f2, f2.8, or f4 (ideally using "R" as I mentioned previously). If you set the defocus control to an aperture that is smaller than the aperture you are shooting with, you will get soft images as you mentioned on your review. For example, if you are shooting at f2 and set the defocus control aperture to f4 (F or R), you will get a softer image. Some people may do it on purpose though for creative reasons. That is what makes the DC lenses so fun to use in my opinion.
You won't regret this purchase. I got one 5 months ago, not cheap, but something that last the rest of my life
IF...I were going to purchase a film camera in 2020, it would be this body!
smashing that like button
I love you
please do more review please your channel is amazing
Thank you for your support. I am working on getting a new video made 😊 hopefully soon!
Is everthing ok? The last Upload was 4 years ago? Greetz from germany
Hello! I'm sorry about the lack of videos. I have been wanting to make another video but I have been occupied with a new job, new friends, and another hobby. I still shoot film but I need to work on getting more of it developed. I've got 4 new film cameras that I could review but I need to decide on a time to do that
Great camera. Too expensive for me but I have an F5, and I love it.
I found this channel because i was looking for this camera and there are few review on youtube but this one it's crazy good, i just subscibed but i saw that this is the last video, i hope you are ok :(
I am okay, I have just been very busy with other projects and haven't had time to sit and flesh out a new video. I've gotten 3 new cameras since so I definitely have some good material to work with
@@DrunkCameraReviews i'm glad you are ok, it's the most important thing, expecially through this times. Well, when you will release a new video i'll be here! :D
You did not tell us about your Drink in this Video.
Other than that,nice Filming :-)
Ahh shoot I was having a 7&7 :) and thank you!
Cheers,Dude :-)
Thanks for the review!!!
KEEP MAKING GOOD VIDEOS !!!!!
Thank you for the support 😊
What camera would be best if you only used MF lenses, the F4 or F6?
If I were to just use MF lenses, I would go for the F4
Just gotta say, not prosumer. Literally flagship.
ha ha, just took a frame! that was funny. Of course you planned that for the video right? :)
Nice review! Keep on drinking please.
1:58 F6 was meant to be a very high end consumer camera ? I thoguht the F6 was Nikon flagship pro SLR. Just like the D6 is now.
My opinion is that the F5 was the last "Pro" SLR that Nikon produced simply from a design standpoint. I mean, You have the built-in dual grip on the F5, which is definitely a "pro" feature, and a more standard body on the F6. It makes the F6 more appealing to the average consumer than the bigger F5. The F6 was also released after digital cameras started to take more of the playing field in the "pro" arena, like the D1x and the D2x.
Hi, does anybody know how to tighten the camera back from the hinges, the one on the top seems to be a bit loose. (I see people removing the backs, so I’m guessing you can remove the back and put it back, so there’s got to be a way to tighten it, I just don’t seem to know how..) anybody that knows please, let me know, I would be grateful
Why buy new? Warranty and because it’ll be the first and last time to get a film camera new before somebody else owned it.
The D-pad is handy eh?
wawawawa
:P
Theres NO 'Y' in NIKON !!! Ask NIKON !!
What exactly does the piano music add to this? So annoying.
You for a fact drunk
Use of profanity is inappropriate for this sort of presentation.
I'm sure what you were expecting when coming to my video...
annoying music
Would you rather no music?
@@DrunkCameraReviews definitely ;)
FUNNY GUY BUT NOT A PRO....
Me, a pro? Nah I'm just a guy making videos
Is the cursing necessary? Not trying to be a prude, but your language means I can’t forward to some people and don’t want to post it some places. Your channel, your choice, but you might want to consider if you think it might broaden your audience. Maybe the “drunken” aspect precludes that anyway.
Maybe I'll start to bleep out curses in future episodes but it's just part of my charm :)
It's not a "Nye-Kon" it's a "Nee-Kon". Ask any Japanese. Why on earth get it so wrong?
Possibly because I am from the United States and I am just used to pronouncing Nikon like that.
Apparently both are correct. ua-cam.com/video/aDNeBG-CwSw/v-deo.html
@@RonEMarks The origin is from the name Nippon Kōgaku Kōgyō Kabushikigaisha - and nobody will argue with the pronunciation of "Nippon". You see where this is going. BTW: I live in Japan and speak Japanese. At the end of the day call it what you like, but getting it right does respect the many, many years of amazing products that the company has produced and continues to produce.
Also, NIKE is not Nah-ek, is Niki....
