I'm from California , and 70 years old . This area has always been a fire area for as long as I have been around . This time it burned some expensive real estate . Instead of doing something decades ago we act surprised that it happened . Fire breaks and fire retardant landscaping would have lessoned this impact , but a few years from now it will be a couple miles away and we will be surprised it happened .

The water problem is not because of lack of water; it requires pumps to move a massive amount of water, refill tanks, and provide pressure. It was never designed for this type of fire. And the more hydrates are used, and the leaked in the system the fire has caused, it hard to maintain the pressure needed.

Not sure what fire hydrants are supposed to do when the winds are 80mph. By the time you get the hoses hooked up the fire's already burned everything around you and the next 2 or 3 fire hydrants up the road as well.
The magnitude of this fire and the wind conditions made it impossible to fight the fire. That’s all there is to it. Does it make sense to you now?

The water problem is not because of lack of water; it requires pumps to move a massive amount of water, refill tanks, and provide pressure. It was never designed for this type of fire. And the more hydrates are used, and the leaked in the system the fire has caused, it hard to maintain the pressure needed.
