- After much disappointment with 'supermarket' musical instruments (and electrical items from supermarkets generally) I'm glad to say that putting together this cigar box guitar was good fun and it opens up an enjoyable new experience in guitar playing. A whole afternoon of fun for well under $30 :)
I just got this same one as a gift, first thing I did was READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ! Makes life so much easier.

I'm always seeing these in the 'special / special' markdown area in ALDI. So a lesson with these recurring toy guitars is 'short' the price, wait a few weeks until it's at clearance price.

I bought a Washburn acoustic from Aldi 15 years ago, and it's still one of my favorite acoustics. I think i paid around forty dollars for it and it came with a bag, tuner, extra strings, and a cd for learning.

No shit. Your bridge bolt needs angle. I have one and I thing I found about 45° to 35° having the high G a bit longer.
I mess with tuning and the bridge stays stable with some angle.

I just built one of these on my channel!
You might find that the "spare" string holders go underneath, so you have them top and bottom with the string tension holding them together. Just a thought.
Yes I checked that but it's not really a good fit, and it makes it much harder to get the strings through. I think you're right though, this was the intention. Gearfacts
@@gearfacts Or you could follow my DIY Golden Rule. If it doesn't work, use a hammer. If that doesn't work, use a bigger hammer :-)
I got something similar from Aldi called the Strum Box Ukelele (SBU). The body is exactly the same shape and size, except it has 4 strings and frets.
4 strings? Interesting ...oh was that the ukulele version? Yeah I remember that one
You found this at Aldi's ? Cool. Gotta keep an eye peeled for this one. Looks like something they would play on the Flintstones, haha! Don't forget to plug into a pignose to get the best sound.

put together incorrectly , there is no spare rivets they go on the underside of guitar to stop the end loop of string doing damage and stop from pulling through into timber use all 6 :)
I believe they’re selling them again this gift-giving season

Thanks for the video. You can't mess up twice on the build because you didn't follow the instructions, then say the manual wasn't clear on the rivets.

Haha yeah I am often very “naaaa” with instructions. Got a touch of ADHD, it takes SO much focus and effort to read manuals! Ahh it’s all part of the fun :)

It's sort of trash, the box is card board with a laminated sticker around a cardboard box to make it look like a nice wood box.

Actually it's a wood box because if they would have lacquered cardboard the neck would've collapsed into the box at the rear bridge you get more than your money's worth when you buy that little kit

Total waste. Says it's a kit to build a cbg when in reality all you do is place the bridge, nut, and string it up. Very disappointing.
Yes I have to admit I did find it to be a bit more 'already built' than expected!
