So glad Phil got clean... really wish we could of seen Layne Stayle on this list 😪
Could’ve seen dimebag if he had never died
I often wonder if Dime and Vinnie would be sober now if they were still here.
@@mikeys7536 dime probably would have sobered up around his 40s dude was bloated to shit in 2004
Same with big vin
@@punkrockstormchaser vin never got sober. Idk if dime ever could.
He's in heaven with Jesus
"The opposite of addiction isn't sobriety, it's connection. If you want to understand how someone is lead into addiction, you must look at the neglect, abuse, and trauma that made them not want be in the present moment and connected to themselves" - Gabor Mate
Sit with the pain. Sitting with the pain will lead to the decoding of that pain, and eventually the navigation of that pain. 🖤❤🤘
it's hard and painful, but it's the right thing to do.
Hell yeah Jeff
The timing of this is awesome. 6 years sober for me on 11th March and going to see Judas Priest on the 13th. Respect to everyone who beats their "demons".
For me it's 3 years on 7th March:) congrats to you
@@chris6667 Good work. Keep it up. Best thing I ever did was giving it up 👍
I love this!
My Soberiaty date is 3-30-85...
That's a long time! Good job!
Inspirational! Stay strong!
God bless you sir!
Keep it going! Knowing someone been able to stay sober for so long gives me more hope that I can do the same! On my 4th year now without heroin, but I get medication instead. And it has helped me so much! I would not have been here if it wasn’t for the medication and the support system from the people working at the clinic I pick my meds up from.
Getting sober is a journey! Thank you for sharing 🙏
Awesome . I'm approaching 2 yrs sober after 30 yrs of the hard stuff . Just a word of warning to anyone that drank excessive for a long time . I wouldn't suggest quitting cold turkey . Indescribable event .
Congratulations to everyone who has gotten sober!!🤘🤘
I was never really a strong junkie or alcoholic, but I realised, that alcohol or pot doesn’t bring me anything in life, it kind of only stops me from developing myself, almost 4 years sober now, makes me feel like this is the best decision of my life, I had the most productive 4 years ever in my life, I started creating my own music, I spend much more time with guitar, I’m mentally very stable, I became less sensitive to all shit that was bringing me down, I moved on with the fact that my family member, whom I still love very dearly, died almost 7 years ago. Now I don’t judge people who have a glass of wine or get couple of beers, I still hang out with friends at bar, I always have non alcoholic beer, and guess what, I doesn’t miss out, I can still have fun, plus I never get hangovers.
It’s a beautiful feeling not being trapped by it, I missed out on so much, but I have so much more, getting past the mental was the biggest part, the physical will follow
Love this video…Phil Anselmo got a voice like Drop G tuning
I'm proud of any Rockstar that improves their life.. I'm also proud of the people in that industry that don't feel like they need to abuse drugs to maintain some type of Rockstar image
Can’t forget about James Hetfield. Yeah he relapsed a few years back but before that he was going so strong, especially with all his demons that he carried around with him.
When kicking, I would've given just about anything to get decent sleep. Literally 3 months of hell. I'm still not what I thought I would be, but things are better. Prayers to all that are struggling with addiction. Try to love yourself. You deserve it!🙏
Good job everyone on getting sober, must have been tough but y'all did it. Eternal respect.
Been off fentanyl drink and meth since 2021. I Still take kratom cause it was that or suboxone/methadone. I highly suggest it for any opioid addict
I’ve kicked kratom a couple times but it just helps me maintain and not relapse
Not that I’ve checked in on him recently, but to hear Slash speaking in full, coherent, poignant sentences with beautiful diction, for the first time in my life, made me cry. I’m glad he’s had his last dance with, Mr. Brownstone; and the rest.
I wonder if he still smokes? That footage of his cigarette going down his leather pants on stage will always be classic. I hope he can laugh at it too.
He said in his autobiography that he stopped smoking after his mum passed away from cancer.
@@matts7377 - When?
And the advertisement was Jack Daniels. Very nice
Thanks for this❤ it helps for my process
Always happy for those who can take their life back and get to and maintain sobriety. It's obviously not the easiest thing to do, but to those who can get there and those who maintain it, that's the best feeling in the world.
Great stories.
20.8.12....still going strong 🤘
Inspiring. You can be cool and successful while stay clean.
Congrats to all in this video. Fuck addiction 🤘
Ice has a withdrawal time of roughly 3 days due to it being VERY hard to become entirely addicted to it, in my experience it’s more energy depleting that keeps you down, you really don’t have physical symptoms like you would say Hero or another opiate, like shaking, tremors, instead you become mentally dependent on it, difference is you’re body needs it to fuction, that’s addictied, whereas on ice you become dependent on it for the effects they cause, ice it’s the energy & drive, but you never physically need ice, so once it’s out of your blood, your aces, and out of your system, it’s all good & you can fuction, albeit slower that you may be used to with speed, and you’re VERY well rested as you sleep near 24 hrs a day, and like Brian said, Sugar and caffeine are your best friend, lol.
As a former alcoholic and herion addict going on 18 years clean, this is wholesome, to anyone struggling, you can
beat this
To anyone else that got clean, know that I'm proud of all of you
First you wanna kick boredom then it becomes boredom.
Boredom beats being on Facebook, or tipsy, or etc. addictions 24/7. Can't appreciate the true peaks of life without the valleys
It’s not surprising when a rockstar says that they struggle with alcoholism or drug abuse. That’s what comes with the lifestyle. you aren’t cool if you don’t drink. Pantera used have a drinking game that they used to play on tour I heard.
Ozzy and Motley Crue were the worst from what I have heard.
I’m not surprised, 60s, 70s, and 80s rockers had it the worst. I heard that Megadeth literally spent half of the budget for their first album on drugs.
This isn’t so much the “lifestyle” it’s the pitfalls of any job that keeps you on the road away from those you have personal relationships with friends family’s ect. For months at a time.
EVERY outfit I’ve worked for who’s on the road a majority of those folks have had vices to break up the boredom of having nothing to do besides work then go “ home “ to a empty hotel rooms
Yep, we can be our own worst enemies
I don’t think any less carpenters or car salesman use drugs than musicians . The “lifestyle” is a myth. When I was in college half of the students were drinking and doing drugs.
I'm not sure if it's times changing and drugs and drinking just aren't being viewed as cool anymore or if it's just me and everybody I grew up listening to getting older and figuring it out on their own but it's nice to see so many artists being vocal about the path that got them hooked and how they got clean.
I was thinking the same thing..
I’ve been dead sober since the day they told me I had stage four liver cirrhosis 9-14-18.
Funny thing is today 3-7-24 is my four anniversary of getting my new liver.
The moments come every now and then but they are fleeting.
I honestly thought I’d fall of the wagon when my father passed last summer but by the grace of God I maintained because I’m a useless when I’m drunk
My mind's blown Corey's 50 years old. I thought he was at least around 40.
Zakk’s voice sounds JUST like Artie Lang here 😂
Wish Shannon Hoon would have stayed clean . I really miss him and his voice.
Thumbnail: literally ! Alcohol makes your body WEAK at ALL levels.
Ivan Moodey is the cheesiest guy on Earth
One of the biggest poser bands
Adiction kills!!!
I've never heard of slash speaking .... 😂
"Soul stealing garbage " ...that is all you need to know about Methadone/Buprenorphine .
I'm sober because i don't have a money for alcocol. :D
🫡🫶🏻🤟🏻
it seems like when you say "I don't drink anymore", you get all kinds of respect for overcoming a serious issue.
but when you say "I don't drink", you get criticized for avoiding serious issues.
I've always learned from others' experiences, and used my own observation to keep going. I don't understand why there's so much disrespect towards people like me. It's not like I haven't had any struggles of my own, they just happen to be different from theirs.
Is there a guy of the 1980's Glam Hair Metal era who's clean and sober?
Dee Snider
Michael Monroe
Dave Mustaine
Don Dokken and Stephen Pearcy (Dokken and Ratt, respectively)
Nikki Sixx
Once you realize booze is not friend, you will be free
I gonna drink myself to death... sobriety sucks
How I feel
You cannot just quit, not how addictions work. Have to find meaning/ purpose/ fulfillment in something... then drinking feels lame. Easier said than done, but true bad habits at best can fade away, not something to fight...
But then again sick society makes sick people. Is there really a worse punishment than being forced to eat veggies all the time and live 90 years here? 😂
What you judgemental people see are druggies. But really all it is, is artists who feel so much pain in life with which they need to cope, so they turn to drugs. Life is hard. It's pain and misery, with some good days, mainly on weekends.
Who exactly are you talking to? There is about 35 responses right now on this video, and none of them are judgemental. Well, maybe the one where the guy posted thst he doubts these musicians are truly sober, but controlled use.
Никогда,не сделаю, себе татуировки на лице,кистях рук, шее,и лице. Это такая глупость и тупость. 🤔😐
Most of these people aren't proper sober. They still smoke weed.
First
O would bet non of them are truely sober. Controlled use maybe.
I think Philip still drinks and occasionally smoke weed but definitely not heroin anymore, feel like it would way more dangerous now days cause of Fentanyl. Plus I think he actually toned the drinking down from what I heard to help his voice during the pantera tribute tour
Not that I’d ever use either of them, but taking your chances with today’s heroin and fentanyl supply(s) would never be worth it with the introduction of Tranque (however you spell it).
Tranque may amplify the effects of the drug it’s cut with, but it makes the overdose victim unresponsive to resuscitating drugs, and causes injection sites to necrotize. Given the number of amputees in my complex - that have only recently become so - who have surrendered leg(s) to the needle, there isn’t any cheerful talk once I’m outside my apartment. I keep asking, but no one can remember a single happy story of their lifetime; because most are still using; they say.
@@pstx2816 myself I don't consider weed a drug, because it doesn't have harmful effects like other drugs, but that's just how I feel
Fuck getting sober.
Youre just not ready yet, nothing wrong with that. Youll know when its time, brother.
The best think I have ever done especially after a divorce
hopefully one day you change your mind. Being sober is the best decision you can make.
Zack is not macho or funny, at all.
He is a doofus.
Kerry king and Zack would make a great couple if they got married.
What a bunch of quitters. Rock Stars should never get sober. Never stop the party !

People that get tattoos are insecure and crave attention. There is no argument. Unless u get a tattoo of ur kids face where only u can see it, anything else is stupid and embarrasing.
I have 14 tattoos and I got them because it helped me stop cutting, and frankly you are really coming off as a uninformed person with this comment... I hope you have a good day
