      9 train: it was a failed subway line. The skip stop service was hated by many 1 train riders
      V train: For the most part decent. Although it was basically F train running local in queens and on a shorter route to Manhattan. The M train does a better job now and the V train has no more purpose on the 6th Avenue line
      Brown M train: Another useless line it was basically J trains running via Myrte Ave and outside rush hours it’s basically a glorified shuttle.
      And don’t even COMPLAIN ABOUT THE ORANGE Q it’s was just a temporary service when the Manhattan bridge was being repaired.
      The MTA will not restore useless train lines to satisfy nostalgia fanboys like you

      @@bullymaguire6168 The orange M is a very popular to the crowded L train
      Williamsburg, Bushwick ,Bedford-Stuyvesant riders prefer midtown service and if you look at the changing demographics in you see that Williamsburg, Bushwick Bedford-Stuyvesant, is demanding more midtown service ever since the M train was rerouted to 6th ave and Nassau st ridership is very low I mean like 50% of the line is abandoned and people often transfer at Essex st Canal st Chambers st and Fulton st to uptown trains to get to midtown heck at Broadway junction you see the majority of J/Z riders transferring to the A/C and/or L trains for midtown service.
      Back then Most brown M train rider got off at either Myrtle Wyckoff avenue to transfer to the L train to get to midtown and/or got off at Essex st to transfer to the F train. Routing the M train via 6th ave line greatly reduced crowding. And if riders want to get to lower Manhattan they can just transfer to the J/Z trains instead. And if 4th ave and west end needs more service, just extend rush hour W trains to Brooklyn bay pway instead. I mean some W train head to Brooklyn to get to a train yard anyway.

      Clorox Bleach However, this was one of those changes that actually did increase ridership. In fact, when they considered that change, 22,000 passengers on the old M transferred to Midtown and only 17,000 people were going to Lower Manhattan. Only 10,000 people were going into Southern Brooklyn, and I’m pretty sure that the train was carrying tumbleweeds on the West End Line. Now, not only did ridership increase, station registrations were redistributed along the line, showing that rather then journey to the L for Midtown, Ridgewood and Middle Village residents would instead enter at a station closest to their homes and ride the M straight into Midtown.

      ThePandaTrain7 This is something I have proposed. My version has it run the same route as the F, but would run via Culver Express to Church Avenue, then local to Avenue X, which would be rebuilt with a crew facility and better yard leads. This would allow for 12 trains per hour operation on the F and V. You can turn around 12 trains per hour on the middle pocket track at Kings Hwy, where crew facilities exist, but you would be running on a tight schedule with very little leeway. It would be better to turn the trains around at a better location.
      The V would replace the M on 6th Avenue. Instead, with a small connection across the heart of Soho, the M would be moved to the 8th Avenue Line (which runs under capacity) with the E. In addition, the E would also be rerouted over the Bridge to Broadway Junction, allowing for J service to Lower Manhattan to terminate at a rebuilt Essex Street. C service would move to the express tracks south of 145th Street, and also swap with the D north of that point to retain express service on each branch.
      On Queens Blvd, to better serve passengers, the E and K would occupy the express tracks and the F and V would take the local. Extended G service would supplement the F and V. Past Union Turnpike, the E and F would take the Archer Avenue Line (to be extended) and the G, K, and V would take Hillside, with the K going farther out on an extended Hillside Avenue Subway to Springfield Blvd.
      The R would be taken off the Queens Blvd Line and replace N service to Astoria. The N would be rerouted up the Second Avenue Subway. To accommodate 24 trains per hour on the R and W combined, the Astoria Line will get extended to LaGuardia Airport. At the other end, the R and W would, via another new tunnel, join the Fulton Local tracks and replace C service on the local tracks. The C would be express to Lefferts Blvd in Queens. The R would go to Euclid Avenue and the W, via another new tunnel and one that will replace the elevated structure over Fulton Street, would take over J service to Jamaica Center. The J would replace R service to 95th Street.

      @@TheRailLeaguer Might as well be the W train via Broadway being the supplementary service on queens blvd as least it heads to Manhattan and have a high ridership level. The G train was never popular service on queens blvd and ridership was very low cause the ridership is heading to Manhattan not Brooklyn. The W via queens blvd does create an interlocking but as least you avoid an unnecessary interlocking with the G train which no one will take as they just wait for a F/V instead. But deinterlining would work

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 2 роки тому

      @@Amiri_Francis My plan for the other Queens Blvd services was to install a new switch between Court Square and Queens Plaza to allow for G trains to terminate on the Forest Hills-bound local track for better connections to Manhattan-bound trains. However, I am looking for other options for G and R trains, especially during nights and weekends.

    V was included on rollsigns long before service actually started. It was always supposed to be an extra 6th Avenue local service that came with the introduction of the 63rd Street Tunnel.
    The original service pattern had the E and F running express via 53rd Street while the R ran local via 60th Street and the G ran local directly into Brooklyn. The service pattern with the V left the E and R unchanged. The F was rerouted via the 63rd Street Connection and the V took it's place on 53rd Street. To make room for V trains, the G had to terminate at Court Square and was originally planned to do so at all times. This ended up being a service cut for local station riders, so it was decided to run the G to Forest Hills on evenings, late nights, and weekends when the V was not running.
    The benefit of having the V was it sent an extra 9 trains per hour into Manhattan and provided local station riders direct access to 53rd Street, but the problem was it made the E the only express via 53rd Street. The immediate impact was that crowding was significantly reduced on F and R trains, but had actually gotten worse on the E. As people got used to the new service pattern, it actually got better than it was before. I think the V service pattern (now with the M) is much better than having the old one, but they really should either run the M during evenings and weekends, or send the G back to Forest Hills during that time so the R isn't the only local service on Queens Boulevard.

    • @imdanumber1
      @imdanumber1  4 роки тому

      Collin Parsons no extra QB service can run on weekends while there is CBTC construction going on. The way service is running right now the E F and R each run 5 TPH when there is a weekend disruption

    • @collinparsons3363
      @collinparsons3363 4 роки тому

      I mean during normal service pattern after CBTC is installed. I'm surprised they can only run 5 tph each. Assuming they have to all run on 1 track, they should be able to get at 8 each.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 4 роки тому

      Collin Parsons A better idea is to straight up deinterline Queens Plaza. How? First up, remove the goddam R from Queens Blvd. who’s even going to Broadway from there? It makes no sense.
      Instead, reroute the R to Astoria and move the N to 96th Street. From there, you also move the current M route to 63rd Street with the F, followed by moving the C to 8th Avenue express from Canal to 145th Street, then operate along Concourse to 205th Street, while D service goes via 8th Avenue local from 59th Street to 168th Street. Now you can create the K route on Queens Blvd, which would operate from 71st Avenue to World Trade Center vía Queens Blvd Local, 53rd Street, and 8th Avenue Local.
      While you create one somewhat avoidable interline, you eliminate 4 needless ones and allow for train speed increases in the rest of the system. Plus from almost any station from 71st Avenue to 36th Street, one can go to either 8th Avenue or 6th Avenue.
      New infrastructure in Queens would also support deinterlining the Queens Blvd Line in a good way, as well as new connections in Manhattan to deinterline 6th Avenue and Nassau Street.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 4 роки тому

      Branden Rios Why are you so obsessed with Broadway service on Queens Blvd? It’s not like it’s needed. With my plan for E F express and K M local on Queens Blvd, if one needs access to the Broadway Line, they can take the F and M to Lexington-63rd Street and transfer to the N and Q, or just stay on the train to a nearby station.
      However, the installation of crossovers north of Court Square Can allow for the G to terminate at Queens Plaza on the Forest Hills-bound local track, which should allow easy access to the Queens Blvd Line.

    The V seemed like a great line, but I never got to ride it. And I heard that the brown M was the best. RIP V train, 2001-2010. If the W train can come back to service, so should the V, and the M train should go back to being brown.
    5:25 One true fact is that the V train didn’t make it before the Lafayette street transfer opened for 6th Avenue trains to connect to both the Uptown and Downtown 6. Back when the V train ran, free transfers at Lafayette Street were only connected to the Brooklyn Bridge bound 6 train, you’d have to exit the station to connect to the Uptown platform. The hive artwork did not exist yet.

      @TheRailLeaguer 3 роки тому

      Just because the W came back doesn’t mean the V should too. The Orange M has become a rather popular service, with ridership growing since the change was made. What they should do is construct come new track connections and have Lower Manhattan service terminate at Essex Street. Service in Brooklyn currently used by the J and M would be replaced by new Midtown service.

    The V looks cool at first sign but then you realize if it came back to service in 2019 it will just be a smaller (M) line unless the MTA reroutes the (V), since the (V) will just stop at 2 Avenue while the (M) stops many more stops away from the (V) making having it back (unless a new route) useless.

    • @TheRailLeaguer

      A Local Freight Car Dubbing and other bs. Since capacity of the 6th Avenue local tracks is approximately 28 trains per hour, this limits how many trains you can run. Though CBTC can fix this, there are other good plans worth considering:
      One of my favorite plans is a fast connection between Nassau Street Line and the 8th Avenue IND via Spring Street, as well as a tunnel connecting the Broadway Line with the Fulton Street Line and then to the Jamaica Line. With this, I originally allowed for the M to move over to the under-capacity 8th Avenue Line, allowing for the C to be express. This service would become the K. However, with my revised plans, both the E and K would stop using World Trade Center and be rerouted to go into Brooklyn via the Williamsburg Bridge, taking over the J/Z train. The E would travel to Metropolitan Avenue and the K to Broadway Junction. The J would be shortened to Essex Street. The C would be express in Manhattan, and also swap north of 59th Street so that the A and C be express and the B and D local. Both pairs would branch off so each branch would have express service. All seven services would operate at 12 trains per hour.
      This allows for extra service on the Culver Line. This would be in the form of the V, operating between Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kings Hwy vía QB local, 6th Avenue Local, and weekday Culver Express north of Church Avenue. The G would remain unaffected. All three services would operate at 12 trains per hour.
      Queens Blvd would see some deinterlining at the 63rd Street connection. With the signal modernization of the line to CBTC, the E and K would be express out to Jamaica and until an extension of the Queens Blvd Line to Springfield Blvd and the Archer Line is also extended to Rosedale, the F and V would terminate at 71st Avenue. Past 71st Avenue, the K would switch to the local tracks and run local to 179th Street (this is one move I dislike) while the E would make a straight run on the express tracks to Jamaica Center. The G would also supplement the line to 71st Avenue. All 5 services would operate at 12 trains per hour so that there would 24 Express trains and 36 local trains per hour on one track (maximum capacity with CBTC ops is 40, but due to crowding and some of the merging, this is unsustainable). Further changes to the corridor may grow out of developing plans for both the Second Avenue Subway and a potential Queens Bypass and other projects.
      With this, the R would be rerouted back to Astoria, while also being rerouted to Fulton Street. To handle increased capacity, the line would also extend to LaGuardia. As such, the R would operate to Euclid Avenue and the W to Jamaica Center. Both would make the C train express in Brooklyn and out to Lefferts Blvd, allowing for additional A service to Far Rockaway. The J would also be extended to 95th Street. All services would run at 12 trains per hour.
      The only stations losing service under this plan are Alabama Avenue, Van Siclen Avenue, Cleveland Street, Norwood Avenue and Crescent Street. These stations sit on an antiquated structure over Fulton Street. Three new stations would be built on the new Jamaica Avenue Subway and will be torn down.

      Adam Margolang Well in my Nassau-8th Avenue connection plans, I intend to use the V for a Culver Express service. To make room, M service would be rerouted to 8th Avenue. C service would be express.
