I take it as meaning that she hopes that with more time the feelings that lead to the songs she has written in the past will have diminished enough that it wont feel like she wrote them. That they'll be so completely separated from the memory of the person that she wrote them about that she can listen to them sweetly and have them make her think of the new person in her life

i know i'm not the one singing this song, but it does feel like a cover. i'm 22 now, not 17. when i first listened to historian i was in the worst state of my life and couldn't imagine lasting for the next 5 days, let alone 5 years. 5 years on i'm happy and in love and i don't want to die anymore. the kid who used to listen to this on repeat didn't think he'd ever make it out. i proved him wrong. thank you lucy.

I really think it was an homage to Barbie as well and the flat foot/heeled foot transition. Especially with all the homage to wizard of oz, which Barbie had as well. The meanings continue to unfold with each shot. She’s so intentional it’s beautiful
And then it ends as the line “why did I come here, to sit and watch you stare at your feet?” concludes, as we the noticing audience were staring at the tin man’s feet (who doesn’t have the heart to speak up).
The chipping black nail polish is so real she’s so real for that. Also this song got me through most of my situationships.
