Raw Video: Colbert Asked to Leave Hearing
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 вер 2010
- House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers asked comedian Stephen Colbert to leave the room, and to leave the job of testifying to the expert witnesses on the panel. He later withdrew the request. (Sept. 24)
By the way that guy talks you'd think he's paid hourly
Sounds like a pill popper
I luv this comment lol
If you play it at 1.5x speed he suddenly sounds normal. Shaves off 20 years. I wonder if he hears everyone else speak at 1.5x speed.
It was unpleasant to listen to him.
He’s dead. Died shortly after.
Why is this recommended 10 years later lol. I dont have any clue what any of this was even about lol.
I’m here too lol
Fr need context
me too!
Same here
Ditto
"I'm glad to see you, Mr. Colbert...now please excuse yourself." His reply was subtle but perfect.
Colbert response was even better
Never pick an argument with an comedian, they enjoy it and their wit embarrass you
at this writing, evidently 773 people [not incl. the original poster] do not have the meaning of 'subtle' at all but were impressed by its use
Oh, I think it was subtle. He didn’t say, “Eff you, I’m not leaving” despite his subtle look of annoyance at the end of his reply.
@@Civilizashum I'm thinking the people commenting on this don't understand the post.. It sounds to me like the OP was talking Colbert's response. I could be wrong but it would explain all the likes.🤷🏿♂️
It’s like he’s filibustering his own meeting. Annnndddd noooow I willll sayyyyy soommmethinngg.
This is an amazing comment. Brilliant.
Like the postal worker on "Night Court">
“Ok sir, now I will begin to proceed to obtain...”
He definitely lives on our dime. Takes all the time he wants to try to justify his own existence. Typical for his kind.
@@iamjakepaul944 NOT a courteous final statement, not one bit! Shame on you! 👎
The guy talking to Colbert sounds like he is talking himself to sleep
Remind you of someone in the administration?
@@Jeo3l it reminds me of many people hahah you’ll have to be more specific
He ain't got nothing on Ben Carson LOL.
Ben Carson like
Stephen certainly brought some well deserved attention to the issue at hand, but the guy wasn't wrong. They had to get down to a decision and do some work. Stephen was gracious about it too. I don't think he was snubbed if that's what some people might think.
If Conyers spoke just a little faster this video could've been a 20 second clip.
He was really old, though; really old.
Some would argue too old, should have retired long ago. Term limits!
. . . and I might have gotten the video before 2021.
I've known a few 90-100 year olds that don't speak that slow. It sounds more like he's doped out on xanax and oxy, than too old
He was senile. He was well known to walk around his office with no pants on. It's why he had to "resign". His wife, while about 20 yrs younger, was a real piece of work, too. She was convicted of bribery while president of the Detroit city council.
He should be asked to leave TV all together. He’s pretty low.
I suggest that everyone that experienced TDS should receive counseling and therapy before operating heavy equipment or making any major life decisions. I’d hate to see him have to cry again on broadcast television.
@@ericksonjustinAK atleast you suggest they return to society. The left wants you banned completely.
Total low life.
100%
Canada hates his guts.
When this is watched 10 years in the future kids will have to go back and see which impeachment they were talking about...
i had to check what date this was uploaded.
No, it's not THE impeachment you are thinking about. This video is from 2010.
@@a.16.g I know, but in ten years when some ten year old kid watches this they may not know which impeachment is being referenced, thats what I was saying.
Were they talking about Bill Clinton?
@@WaffleEBay12 I think they were talking about the 1868 impeachment of Andrew Johnson.
Whoever posted this did a masterful job of providing no information on what the hearing was about or why Colbert was there.
So glad someone said it. I thought I was just ignorant
@@m.g.2799 there's so little information im not even exactly sure what to google
@@m.g.2799I hear a whooshing sound of you completely missing the point. It’s Associated Press that posted this, like where the news gets its news, and yet if I want the slightest bit of context I have to go and Google it. You must have thought I had no idea how to find out more about this.
Agreed, what is the hearing for, and did he leave or not.🤷🏼
The hearing had to do with migrant workers in our farm industry and how they are treated
"We don't say anything not worth a long time saying" - Treebeard
Jeezus...
I thought the same thing.
Conyer to disinvite someone whose been invited to give testimony. That’s awfully bizarre. Unless he knew Colber was there to get laughs.
A perfectly legitimate request from the chairman, respectfully put and respectfully responded to by Mr. Colbert.
Just another thing we've lost...
He's not the chairman.
@@alalalala57 John Conyers was chairman of that committee (the HCJ) from 2007 - 2011. This hearing took place in 2010.
Colbert addressed a woman at 1:15 as the chairwoman. Are you claiming there were two chairs?
@@dreaming_cthulhu The woman he was addressing was Zoe Lofgren, the chairman of the subcommittee in session in the video. John Conyers was the chairman of the full committee.
Did Conyers have authority over that subcommittee similar to or greater than Lofgren? For the purposes of the hearing, would it be fair to say Lofgren was the only person who wielded the privileges of chairman in that specific subcommittee?
Never give up young UA-camrs, your videos may boom in 10 years and will be recommended for random users all over the world

Yes finally the Associated Press will get their time in the spotlight
"Mr. Colbert, we've heard enough from you, how about if you leave this country?"
I wouldn’t mind that
you and your trolls can. That be splendid. We’ve heard enough from you all. Please exit in an orderly quiet manner without crying. 😊
- Thank you and happy holidays
"thank you very much, that's fair enough"
a politician said that, ladies and gentlemen
WOW
Play on 1.25x speed to hear how he speaks normally
Uh, uh, ugh, uh. So annoying. And he talks soo slow.
1.75x *
thanks so much for the tip
100% accurate
Wow. It doesn't sound weird at all.
"Uhmmm, y'all asked ME to be here"
I love he stayed in character the whole time.
It’s sad that this guy is a politician. No wonder nothing ever gets done.
John Conyers is dead so yes he hasn't gotten much done in the last year.
I'm surprised they could pass anything with how slowly he talked
Well since he died in 2019 I think he has an excuse.... you should know more about posts you comment on
Have you ever heard what Dr Phil says about Texans?
@@SleepyUncleSam Oh yes so everyone is supposed to research every single person in every video they comment on
They're scared what he will say haha but colbert handled himself like a professional. Kudos to you Stephen
Scared of what? Professional clout chasing?
@@Katya_Lastochka did you see what he said before this? He mocks using his celebrity status to have to come to the hearing to convince these guys to treat migrants like people.
This left wing idiots whole skit is Trump bashing and he's not even remotely funny. Let's see the vicious, relentless attack on Biden that Trump had to weather his whole term,by the left wing late night losers!! Can we clone Johnny and bring him back? At least he was interesting and entertaining and most of all,had dignity!!
Colbert should be asked to leave "entertainment" entirely.
But whyyyyyyyyy🤔
Exactly

Thank you, UA-cam, for recommending me this after 10 years...
I'd simply call this a waste of time, but then I'd be wasting my time.
You wasted enough time to comment in the first place, and even spent more time than necessary to add an ironic clarifying statement.
If benzos, barbiturates, and opiates were people.. They would sound exactly like this guy..!
“Thanks for coming, now get out.”
Reason why this video took 10 years to show up in my recommended is because that dude talking finally finished his sentence!
Caution: Do not drive or operate heavy machinery after listening to that guy speak.
😅😅
It's a sad day when a comedian is acting as politician.
...and no-one can tell the difference.
That guy does the best Ben Carson impression I’ve ever heard.
Thats was the most polite and epic reply I have ever seen.
Colbert is the smartest one in that room...
And what possible reason could anyone have for asking Colbert to testify???
Because bringing in a comedian serves to make the proceedings actually less of a farce.
He was brought on as an expert witness
Well done Mr. Colbert!
"This is America," he told the panel. "I don't want a tomato picked by a Mexican," he said. "We do not want immigrants doing this labor."On the bill dealing with immigrant workers, Colbert quipped, "Like most members of Congress, I haven't read it." He sarcastically expressed confidence that as the bill moves forward, "both sides will work together as you always do." He was upset on how migrant farm workers are treated in America.
Colbert the Hypocrite
This guy dont tell jokes. He is one.
Sounds like your unconsciousness is speaking 😂
When you invite a clown, you get a circus !
That’s a wonderful idea .....Steve just LEAVE
If we could only get his network to ask him to leave.
And take his network with him.
Yea and he's gotten 10 years Dumber.
People voted for that man...let that sink in.
maybe you should ask the person who invited him to leave too hahaha.....what was the topic even!?!?
So he was asked to leave because there were too many cameras? Too much attention to the issue? What?
It’s possible they wanted all the attention, however they didn’t feel the Colbert spoken statement would carry enough weight when compared to the other witnesses
He was in character from The Colbert Report most of the time and during his statement. He was saying “ok, you did your thing - we’re all set now :)”
@The Darkcel Podcast What court room? Do you even know what this is about? Maybe think before you talk, or inform yourself.
@The Darkcel Podcast not a courtroom special one.
@The Darkcel Podcast Citizens have a place in testimony before Congress when invited, no matter their fame. Anyone with a podcast should agree with that instead of having sour grapes over who is famous and who is not.
Same dude who thought Guam would tip over because too many people ... I haven’t forgot ... he’s a kook
Why was he even there? Cause he's a celebrity?
Slap that smug smirk off of his face
The dude talking like when your presentation has to be a certain amount of time
I never understood why Steven was asked there in the first place, he's not an expert, he's a comedian
If we learned anything in the last 4 years, you don't need experience to qualify for a position. Stephen was a comedian in congress (for a day) and Trump was a joke in the white house.
@@wmcarter6096 And I assume you're not OK with that, correct? So why are you invoking Trump's name out of nowhere as though to say "Yeah, he was unqualified to be there, but then again, so was Trump therefore it's OK"?
Political comedians tend to meld public interest and politics together nicely.
This is how Ukraine elected a comedian for president, and how Trump's Ukraine phonecall became such a headache. If the comedian wasn't elected, and the original talks Trump had with Ukraine's predecessor went through, we wouldn't have gotten the phonecall and instead would have had more disinformation presented regarding Burisma.
Comedian really
@@Jinzulen No, it's not okay. I brought up Trump because he's one of the most recognizable names as far as not qualified for the position.
I could have picked some football coach, my boss from 5 years ago, or Bob down the street but nobody would make the connection.
you're the best Stephen
Why doesn’t he just leave this world.
?
A comedian addressing clowns.
This is the state of our government.
Lord help us🙏
I'm just popping in here again for a minute 10 years later to see if Colbert has left yet
He’s still waiting for the guy to finish his sentence.
Yes Steven.GET OUT. WE HAVE ENOUGH AH ALREADY
Conyers is the best, brightest and most popular person in his district in Michigan. Let that sink in.
Conyers invented UA-cam's slow playback function ten years ago. The man was ahead of his time, which is just as well since he's wasting so much of it sssssppppppeeeeeeaaaaaakkkkkkkiiiiiiinnnnnnggggggg.
Funniest thing about this was the words " comedian " listed under his name
This guy makes Hank Johnson sound like an auctioneer, with his slow deliberate speech .
Term limits!!!
Full house today in congress lol
You’re thinking of bob saget
Wish I could get him off my feed.

Awesome work Stephen
“CALM DOWN, DUDE!” - Ben Carson
He really thinks he is funny, Now that he has his show on tv he still thinks he is funny. I just turn to another station.
Jon oliver is worse. Hate that clown.
And that’s the proof that they’re getting the reaction they want. They’re both hilarious.
Never cared for Colbert. Just don’t think he’s funny
Same with all talk shows hosts, maybe my only exception is Conan, he's kinda alright.
@@AJay-nu6yc Conan is alright because he avoids political discourse and relies mainly on overacting and crude humor. He's okay, but not someone I would actively waste my time watching on a consistent basis. Conan is the king of clip comedy because he's decent in his few short bursts of true comedy.
Thank you, for the post that is real comedy.
Colbert gives off a strong "Creepy Uncle" vibe.
This guy talks like if he's the sloth from zootopia
I see you too, were sent here by some algorithm suggesting this 20 years later.
If there is one thing that Colbert exceeds in, it's grace.
Conyers is permanently in Detroit ..Colbert is permanently in quarantine....
Can someone please give me the context of this
Did he STAY in character.. or IS THIS his character :P
@Alex Diaz Whoosh...
Hello there

Well mannered response from Colbert.
Ten years later and Conyers still hasnt finished speaking.
Back when Colbert’s show was funny.
i assume comedy central gives their people a little more freedom what they can do and say than NBC
Colbert's Arrogance is astounding.
Colbert probably asked him for an autograph afterwards, this guy must be the voice actor for Treebeard in Lord of the Rings
That has to be exactly what Colbert was thinking, you can see it in his expression.
Yeah...you heard them. Leave.
They need to cancel him period.
And what was the point of this video?
Did the chairwoman insist on his departure after inviting him? Surely the committee should have been consulted before the original invitation.
Hey Stevie, how’s you’re friend Epstein?
He's not asked to leave enough
He shoulda been asked to leave America
