Colbert was definitely better at the Colbert Report than he is at his current gig. Political satire just suits him better. It was smart in the same way Mark Twain provided critique during his own time. His current show though just feels fake and overly scripted.
It was an amazing show. But he was truly exhausted by the end of it. Most people didn’t think he could keep it up a year. 10 later, he felt he needed a change of pace.
The fact that they are using these clips is so needed right now. They should be playing these episodes on CNN 24-hours a day just so we all know why moneyin our politics is out of hand.
I used to love watching “The Colbert Report” and I wished Stephen never, never ever changed his old format. To Stephen all I say is this, a big wag of my finger to you for ending one of the best shows on TV. Your present late show STINKS.
I’m sure he didn’t want to end it, but a lot of people don’t realize just how much effort and discipline the whole act was. 10 years on, he was truly exhausted and felt himself slipping a bit. He needed a change of pace. That’s why he ended the run.
Plus it’s a lot of cache to take over for Letterman. Shame he drove it into the ground from day one. I think I watched a couple of episodes before I tuned out. The character on this video is who we wanted.
I donated to his Super PAC. Even saw my name in the crawl at the bottom of the screen. Have a photo of it somewhere
Oh my I suddenly remembered Suq Madiq LOL...

What a perfect thread of comments
The character of Stephen Colbert was amazing. Even funnier when people missed the satire.
I am so sorry I never watched Colbert Report when it originally aired. I'm mainlining every episode I can find now.
It was a life preserver!
It was brilliant!
It really was when Colbert was at his best.
The good old days ✌💜
Same. I was younger and never had DVR.

It's hard to categorize what he does now as "comedy"
his heart is not in it currently

Putin would be proud
Geez, it almost feels like we shouldn't be cheering for this.
In my opinion we should because he’s exposing a corrupt system in a super accesible way for people to understand.
And now he pretends only one side is bad for a lot of money 😢
god I miss this show
Get into it COLBERT NATION! Get after it for 2022!!!
I hope some comedian makes a superpac for the 2022 election. It was a great idea and had an effect.
Colbert PAC shoulda won a Peabody
It did
Unfortunately I can click "Like" only once; would that I could "Like" it an "Unlimited" (hint, hint!) number of times...
You’d need a YT C4 for that.
Thank you. More please 😄
Jimmy, more please
You needed one of these in 2016!!!! Omgosh, just think of the political ads. 😆🤣
Marilyn Chambers left me this in her will it's an all expense paid trip to the 2024 Paris olympics I'm the geek
Fuck Stephen Colbert looks young. Of course but damn though 👍. It's apart of aging though
Please avoid curse words.
