I'll be doing smc this year and its the first time I'll be doing it..these questions are crazyyy. Do you have any serious tips for me coz ive never done something like this before and the questions do seem hard and idk how to prepare..

thanks for this video, was really helpful in my preparation, I was wondering what you think this years paper grade boundaries would be more like, 2023 or 2022.
I can’t predict the grade boundaries with any certainty - I’ve made a table with boundaries from previous years that you can see here: mathsaurus.com/intermediate-maths-challenge-grade-boundaries/#imcgradeboundaries I don’t have any reason to believe that they will be particualrly different this year and it’s really not possible to say. The boundaries are set as a proportion of people taking the exam so they can’t be set until all the data has been compiled.

Sir, I'm wondering if there's any correlation between performance in these tests and later on performance in entrance tests such as TMUA and STEP? I feel like after today I'll get a bronze or maybe even a silver but I have no idea how to get gold and the latter is the sort of grade I feel like these universities are looking for to pick the best candidates
I'm sure there is some correlation but they are also quite different - I've known many people who did well at STEP and didn't like the maths challenges so much. STEP and MAT are much more preparable and school maths but maths challenges are more problem solving and focus more on certain topics like number theory and geometry and logic puzzles
good question though, might add this to my list of things to make a video about sometime!

Yes they are IMC type problems but just ones I have written myself with no particular knowledge of this year’s paper - I suppose you could call them predictions in the sense that they are the sort of thing they often ask but really I just think they contain useful ideas that will help you prepare!

Yes as far as I know the usual rules will apply so same as last year
