    My suggestion is if you have a few extra bucks, buy flowers or pick some from your yard . Hand them out to random strangers . Give cold bottles of water out to people working outside of it's really hot where you live. Many trucks have no AC. Many times little gestures of kindness to others does make you feel better if you are in a safe area. Many places are not safe to walk anymore.
    Hypnosis can help. They have hypnosis for pain too. Tell yourself in the mirror that you matter. You are important. You are a great person. Tell yourself until you realize that you are. Don't let Anyone put you down. Get away from toxic people ASAP. When they put you down, they are trying to make themselves feel better. Hold your head high. ✌️

    I notice I get depressed when my environment isn’t right. And I don’t mean my environment isn’t perfect or whatever that looks like to me; I mean for example I might be in an abusive environment and that’s what is making me depressed. Doesn’t have to be serious abuse like physical, can be just verbal. If I’m in an environment where I lack control, autonomy and can’t be my true self; 100% I’ll be depressed and the longer I stay in it, the worst it will get. Honestly, now that I think about it, doesn’t even have to be the environment; if I’m not living my life being my honest self, I’ll get depressed…it’s almost like I feel oppressed, pushed down

  • @dianal3827
    @dianal3827 Рік тому +14

    Something that has helped me start getting control back was taking care of an easy houseplant. It's not as demanding as a pet, so it will not die if you don't have energy to deal with it every single day. Still, it's taking responsibility for a living organism. It can also be very rewarding to see it grow and develop. There were also some studies claiming that gardening and "playing with dirt" can improve the chemicals in your brain to make you feel better. My first plant was an Epipremnum Aureum (Golden Pothos) that I still have 5 years later.
    If you don't like plants, find some other small responsibility that's also very rewarding. You need something that will push you to get up from bed, but not cause you additional stress.

      I’m extremely weak, I’ve been diagnosed with ME/CFS! Which is controversial via mainstream but those of us dealing with it--it’s very real! So exercising can be difficult but more often than not I do! I do qigong for 6 minutes, rebounding for 6 minutes & walking for 12 minutes, but not one right after the other! I have to pace myself! I eat very healthy--yet I react to so many foods, I can’t eat that much! I only weigh 93 lbs. I also meditate & deep breathe daily! All of these things have helped-I felt like I had a handle on the situation, until! My mate of 52 years died 3 years ago, I was his caretaker for several years! I fell and broke my wrist and knee & I remained resilient! I really felt I had the key! Then my daughter became seriously ill with a strange disorder--but thank goodness she is thriving now partially because of Dr Amen! I am so very grateful she is!!! Still the experience was stressful . And it seems all of these events combined wore me down!!
      I’m very weak my balance is off the majority of the time I use a cane to walk and I’ve developed Plasma cell mastitis on top of everything else! Plus I’m very depressed, still grateful for my blessing however tired and weary--I think I’m sharing simply because it helps to know others can empathize and understand! The good news is regardless of one’s situation, this existence is just a blink of an eye! We are all connected via love and it’s going to be OK! Hang in there-Much love to you all!

      My case is simular as yours, my energy level is extremely low, I'm in pain when walking, I live alone. I don't see anyone for weeks at a time, unless I go to the corner store. Seriously. In the last 8 years I've lost all siblings. I call any one of my kids, g- kids, no response, should there be one its 2 or 3 days later. I'm in the poverty level of finance. So, I can't afford to pay for a functional doctor (it is out of pocket, of course), conventional doctors do nothing but throw pills at you. Most of us are onto THAT scheme, Big Pharma is involved. I can't clean house, just making my bed hurts me along with every part of living does. Massive depression. I pray for the Lord to kill me or heal me, plz. Missouri has clinical help to get assisted suicide I have found out, just in case this becomes my decision. They just hand you the meds to make it easier. They don't do it. I don't want that route but got the info to keep handy. I go to the doctor, I'm treated like a drug addict cuz I'm on pain meds yet they DON'T give me what I need just to EVEN FUNCTION. They're the ones that put me on them. Nothing.. I could go on and on. Yes, I'm depressed but it's the environment and ppl treating me like a Hypergondriac. I have mri's, all of it to prove otherwise. They cut my SS check. Discontinued my medicaid. No Snap benefits. Not really able to even get up and cook something healthy. Microwave food only. Bless the Lord I can do that. If I have to accomplish anything, I have to double up on my drugs. Not just the pain meds, other meds too. Like doctor appts, shop for anything. I gotta pay for everything that needs done. Cuz I can't do it myself anymore. Even little things. I'm done. Getting worse cuz I can't do it alone anymore cuz I'm certainly not at the top of my game in the fighting area and brain fog didn't help. Probably cuz the dentists don't fix it teeth without 100 appts. I got stories about them too. Frightening. So much more... wah.. I know "get over it" I'm told. Put on your big girl panties. On and on. I'm tired. This govt regime we have had made life so much harder to live for ppl. I fall through all the cracks for help. I'm sure I'm not the only one having these issues. What can you do? Nothing... everything is so far out of hand now, things is no fixing it. I've worked all my life raising my kids, at whatever I could do. Didn't matter if it was men's shirk or not. I worked, did NOT use girly ways to get others to do my work for me. I did have some character. But my kids wore decent clean clothes to school. They had a deadbeat dad of course. But that's life I suppose. No rewards here till I cross over. Not sure then. Lol!! I guess we'll see.

      @@victoriao1982 that's very easy for others to say. "just force yourself," as if their brain isn't doing everything in its power to conserve energy by forcing you to remain in bed.
      The best thing for depression isn't forcing yourself out of bed, because if you're struggling with even doing that, imagine the shame. I know it sounds counterintuitive, however, exercise is the LONG TERM habitual cure for depression. Exercising every day takes mental momentum which you do not have to begin with.
      For some, it's fibromyalgia, for others it's EDS. For some reason or another, chronic pain and fatigue can really make forcing yourself out of bed some days near damn impossible. Sometimes going for a walk means it will take me an extra half hour to coax myself out of bed the next day, and I only do it for coffee, hoping it'll give me back some energy. It doesn't. It never does.
      The short term solutions to depression is, shock horror, rest. Rest, drink water and get at least one piece of fruit into you a day. Depressed means you need *deep-rest.* Your soul is broken, your mind is broken, and the best way to heal it isn't making yourself feel ashamed of being in pain and fatigued from trying to walk the day before, when you get up the next day.
      Start small. Do not heap expectations onto yourself. Walk for 20 minutes, every other day, and be proud of going out even once in a week. Get two litres of water in, an apple first thing wakes you up better than coffee, and on the mental sides of things, figure out what or who in your environment is toxic. Either remove it, or walk away from that person if you can. You cannot heal in the same environment that hurt you.
      Also, real depression will humble you if you think it's as easy as "forcing yourself" to go for a walk. The exhaustion of going out and doing it once, especially for 45 minutes, is enough to convince a depressed brain, "this much movement is too much, I don't like it, it drains my limited energy. I cannot going to stick to this,". Okay, the reason why depressed people stay in bed and struggle to get up is because they have spent so much mental energy dealing with toxic people and patterns.
      Rest first, hydrate, eat healthy, then go for a short walk, and build up to linger walks. The hard part of a habit is halved when you have an adjustment period.

      Well, unfortunately, you're going to run into alot of other health issues, if you think there's something magical about animal products. There are probably elements within animal products that you were lacking while being plant based, but that doesn't mean our bodies need or thrive on animal products.
      Humans are not different. We are all the same species and we have the same physiology and anatomy.
      Every single giraffe on this planet eats one food for their whole lives: leaves. You don't see giraffes trying to figure out which foods are best for their bodies.
      They know which food God and Nature designed for their bodies and their species. And the food that God and Nature designed for the human body are foods grown from the ground. This is the key to true health and sustained longevity.

      @@Chill_Jill idk about you, but honey and eggs are pretty damn magical. Could not imagine living without that good ol tryptophan from chicken and salmon too.
      Tell me, how easy do you find getting enough tryptophan in your diet? And there's certain compounds and elemental configurations in animal products that you cannot get in a vegan diet without supplements. Our bodies don't metabolise certain types of iron from plants as well as from meat. Also, you'd be hard pressed to find enough collagen in plants or supplements. It's not just for making you appear younger, it helps you feel younger too. Maybe your issue with an omnivorous diet was the way the meat was prepared, and the cut. Not the meat itself. I don't drink dairy milk, but there's been studies that show there are benefits to yogurt, cheese, kefir, and butter (in moderation).
      All a vegan diet to the point of reaching most of micro nutrient needs will do for you is gain adipose fat. You will get fat off a full on vegan diet or you'll look like a wrinkled corpse by 40. Eat an omnivorous diet in moderation, and you'll be far more capable of staying in shape without supplements.
      WE HAVE **CANINES** AND MOLARS FOR A REASON. WE ARE MEANT TO EAT PLANTS AND ANIMALS.

      If you feel like you can't leave the house, try smaller tasks as goals. For example, maybe make it a goal to get out of bed every morning and floss your teeth.

    God bless Dr. Amen! The things he talks about have changed my life for the best!
    I lift heavy weights, eat very low carb, and take triple strength Omega-3 Fish Oil (and a beef tallow supplement). And my brain health is markedly better than it was two years ago. 🙂🧠

    Depression is when a person continually marinates on the woes of their life and never wants to put in the power to defeat self loathing.

    Yes for mild to moderate depression, no for severe depression.

    • @audreydoyle5268
      @audreydoyle5268 8 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, for severe depression, you need all the mental and physical rest as you can get. Severe depression usually comes from prolonged exposure to toxic people or patterns from your environment growing up. The only cure in the short term is walk away when you can, lick your wounds and rest. Remember to drink water, and get at least one piece of fruit in a day. Then start going for short walks, even once a week is something to be proud of.
      I know, it is hard. I've been depressed for most of my life, and 2023 hit me hard. Getting to the kitchen to make my coffee was a struggle. I'm hoping to turn that around this year. Starting with rest, fruit, fish oil, water, and getting back into reading. Then walk, weather permitting.

    Regular Sleep, eliminate alcohol, occupy your time constructively, be kind to yourself and others.
    I walk every day, and climb 3 days a week. Climbing exercises the mind as well as the body, and it is a great social activity.

    when someone is so apathetic and unmotivated, frozen in their depression- discussions of diet and exercise are only a small drop in the sea. Serious depression needs serious intervention by professionals.

      Why not consider that antidepressants are the reason you are depressed over the long run?

  • @MariamMazigh
    @MariamMazigh 9 місяців тому

    I’ve been doing crossfit for a year at least 3 days a week while simultaneously talking an antidepressant (escitalopram) and high quality omega-3, I have a good social life and a spiritual practice, but for the past 3 months I’ve been very depressed and literally no amount of exercise or supplements helped relieve my symptoms. My doctor increased my dose and it has been a month and I’m still stuck in a slump.
    Long story short, for some people, it’s not that simple.
