That trash bin will be melted down and come back as a Husk knife.
mora
That is the creatures full lifecycle
Huskeinstein knifes It's alive it's alliiiiiive😂
your trashcan deserves better
probably with a better heat treat.
Thanks so much for the kind words Pete! 🙏 Your channel always gives me inspiration. Hope you're doing well outside of UA-cam👍
HE LOOKS LIKE SPIDERMAN !
Hands down you two are my favorite. You both have very informative content and a great sense of humor. I’ll watch the most boring individual out there if he’s bringing good info but you two are on another level with the way you present your content. The level of comfort, the humor, and the ability to convey are probably what shines. Thank you!!!!!!!
Pete, that was very kind of you to consider me. I don't consider myself an expert at anything so the fact that you got value from what I was presenting feels really good. Looking forward to seeing how you get on in 2024!
Cheers,
Dominic
You know when you fucked up as a company when your knife makes a man philosophical and introspective then drives him to another company like Victorinox!
Victorinox is goat
We're really negative.😂. But it was a shit year!
To your increased cost of living point: I started collecting knives just before college... IE basically 5 years of poverty before I had a proper hobby supporting paycheck. This has definitely shaped how I view and care for my knives, and why I have such an appreciation for good budget knives! Mercator k55k and Opinel for example has been my go to EDC for more than a decade, they're just great at the job and you don't feel so fussed if you ding your edge or lose it!
The Mercator are awesome for the price
I started going on much more expensive knives, found my comfort level went up and ones I bought were changed to much better. I bought a titanium frame lock with cts xhp and it was only 60HrC. Then it came back as a button lock with CPM MagnaCut. I was fair pissed! Then worst of all I realized these expensive knives were folders and could have got very nice fixed blade or even three! I basically messed up in 2023. I think I'm going to halt more. I could have done a MagnaCut Chris Reeve Sebenza. I might quit on expensive knives or re lower my comfort level budget. I liked Cedric & Ada videos a lot in 2023!!!! Outdoors55 was fun and good for years. Gabe at Home Slice responded to comments a lot, the duel grit sharpening was compelling. It was a good year, 2024 is going to grow even better
Even with a stable income, budget knives are great for keeping your knife addiction more manageable.
My wife would shoot me if I was buying multi hundred dollar knives all the time... but a couple budget blades every now and then is much more manageable for the house budget
@@J.sh_CDN Bro, don’t tell your wife….another hack to tell wifey you funded the purchase by selling other knives in your collection. Or try bribing her by buying her something. Anything to feed the addiction
So glad you aren’t like all the other channels.
Oh… I wasn’t prepared for the things I felt learning about the passing of the metal bin of justice.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that you, the DBK boys, Ericasedc, and advanced knife bro are my favorites.
If we lose Brickey, we riot.
Chaos, dude. Pure fucking chaos!
The biggest joke was that Huusk redeemed themselves by accident…
By using 420j....and only half the steel used in the older models...to keep it cheap.....hardly😂
The little pokey bit at the heel pointing back a the user is asking for an accident
@@yankee23a they need magnacut .... I love magnacut so much it goes under my pillow
Happy new year big man. Finally got my Stretch 2 arriving tomorrow, it'll be my first knife worth over £100, my first Spyderco, and the last folding knife I'll be buying for a good wee while. I'm excited! Cheers
I said almost the same exact thing…..
I laugh about that now, 300+ knives later 🤣😂🤣😂
My new year's resolution was no new knives for 6 months, no problems so far. I don't really need any new ones, there's definitely some I see and I want to buy, but there's other things I need to be spending my money on right now. @@WaypointOverland
Still on my list. I am looking forward to trying one, and hope I get around to it before I miss out.
But my Cold Steel Recon 1 EDC does everything I need it to, and then some. I'm about 3 years in on my current S35VN version, and the one before that served me well for over a decade of hard use. And for around $90 USD
I have a lot of stupid expensive knives and I still use the stretch 2 and my Delica wharncliffe more than all my other knives combined
Thanks, Pete, glad you shared your experiences this past year. Your channel is consistently one of the most useful and least biased in the knife community. So keep on keepin' on, I'll be watching!
I've seen Huusk ads on TV around German Bundesliga football games. The margin on that crap must be great to buy those kind of ads...
Looking very Steve Jobs today 👌
Huge thumbs up for Davek umbrellas! Before I started working from home full time, I bought a Davek umbrella for my bus commute and I never regretted the cost. I’ve had 2 of them for almost a decade and they still look and function like new.
So sorry for your loss. RIP throwing trash bin of shame!
I am a rifle guy / hunter. I recently purchased a leatherman signal with the optional bit kit. The multi tool is perfect for me as I can use it to adjust and conduct some basic repairs on all of my rifle / scope systems. Highly recommended
I wish it didn’t have a half serrated blade. I hate half serrated blades.
We need a 15V trash can sharpened by BBB
Damn, I'm going to miss that tactical trashcan. Love your "classical" singing
voice. Could listen to it for hours. Looking fit, Pete. Good job.
Hi Pete, I just wanted to say I love your channel! You are definitely one of my Top 5 favorite knife reviewers. You are a real down-to-earth guy with a great sense of humor, and you have a wealth of knowledge to share about knives (and several other things as well). I appreciate all the time and effort you put into reviewing and testing knives as well as all the effort to actually make/edit the videos. I have noticed a lot of people in the "knife community" have a great deal of respect for you because of your honesty and how you really use and thoroughly test the knives.
Thanks for all you do and may God bless you and your family down in Australia! Steve
I’m with you Pete… I don’t see the value in a lot of these folders lately for the price. I’ve been on a strictly fixed blade lately. You’ve been experiencing them for years, but they’re relatively new to me. There are some really amazing fixed blades out there for a good price still.
Also, Yeti is great. The quality is undeniable.
Highly recommend the Morakniv Mora2000. Amazing & inexpensive
Check out the custom route as well. I just had an amazing small edc fixie made of magnacut at 64rc with super thin slicey edge and a killer handle.
RIP to the throwing bin. Good luck in finding a new one. They don’t make throwing bins like they used to. Maybe you can hunt down someone who’s making good quality reproductions of the vintage throwing bins that our grandfathers enjoyed.
History and Tradition
Yep. I spent over a grand on new knives in the last part of the year. Money I should have spent on bills...but Dopamine is a powerful drug.
Best knife channel ever. Keep on doing what you do please. So much more than just a channel about knives.
How about Kershaw? They’ve really been bringing great knives in great steels like 20cv and Magnacut at very reasonable prices.
man i hope someone will make a custom trash bin for you, maybe with magnacut?
edit: make it full dress please if possible, timascus or damacore with a good heattreat and maybe throw some nice engravings in there and a perfect mirror finish
You do it
Speaking of damacore, I'd love a green or orange Cold Steel Meyhem in damacore!
😂😂😂
Awesome video. It feels strange but I've felt like I've grown up with the channel and shared a lot of your opinions over the years and almost experinced a lot of similar experiences almost at the same time from over buying knives to the blues and journaling. Wish you the best. Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate these type of videos from your channel. I think a lot of us have fatigue from the latest and greatest, and probably too many knives. Your "wacky world of EDC" are particular favs of mine as well.
Thank you for this. I always enjoy your videos, and I liked your discussion of stuff that wasn’t knife related as well. Happy 2024 for you, your family, and the chickens.
Goodbye throwing bin. We hardly knew ye…😢
Great chat mate.! Have a prosperous 2024.
Great vid once again, some very sensible views, and totaly agree. Keep up the great work
Great video. It’s always wonderful to hear from you.
I didn't think anyone in this hobby would mention Arcanum! That was hands down my favorite RPG on computer growing up! That game also aged like fine wine.
Thanks for the year of review!
I love your channel so much. Thank you for another fantastic video!
I really enjoyed this video with your other interests as well as knife stuff. I hope you make more videos about other stuff like games and life stuff. It’s cool to see common interests and seeing what you think about the crazy world we’re in.
All the best to you and the fam for 2024, Pete!
Wouldn't miss this vid for anything and couldn't agree more in many points Pete, particularly in the prices. Great video and thanks for keeping at it.👍
Pete, please get an opinel no13, an almost 9 inch opinel will always be collectable and badass
Send him one
The TRC Pohlheim is a great kinfe, I like it very much, but my favorite knife from TRC is the South Pole, I own the old one with screwed handle scales, the Apo Finish, the 10th Anniversary and the V4E DLC.
Should have throw away the huusk and kept the bin
Awesome Pete! Can’t wait for the Polheim review. Glad you like it so much. Small little correction. Handles are Double Black Micarta instead of G10.
Thanks for all your great videos , i always enjoying them. Did you ever had take a look at the " Tiny " from UG tools with a magnacut blade and tiatnium handle ? looking forward to follow you in 2024 too Pete ;-)
Hilarious. I love your sense of humor. I don't always agree with you, but certainly respect your opinion and do listen to it. In this vid though, total agreement. I also am appreciative of your testing.
I have watched a bunch of your videos in 2023. You definitely taught me a lot about knives. I appreciate your honest content.👊👌
Hi CAAGO, Just wanted to thank you for producing informative content. Watch most of your stuff and watched this video twice. Agree with your overall take on things and like that you base it on what you find yourself in your tests and your personal opinion. I feel that the knife world may be diverging toward more of a split between "fundamental/dependable useable knives that are cool" and those that are "definitely cool" but not something I would depend on in the field. I think both are OK, but I found that my interest in 2023 waned and so did my purchases. Keep up the good work from the land down under!
I got the Stumplifter Blueboi as well. It's such a good little modern traditional, if that's what someone's usecase is. Even bought the leather sheath! Granted, a slipjoint blade and a bottle opener isn't what everyone needs, but in the cases where that's all that's required, it's goddamn lovely.
I'm so over the bottle opener fad. You can literally use just about anything to open a bottle with the right leverage and technique. Wish it was a can opener fad, at least that's actually useful
32:30 My Stumplifter is due to be delivered today!
It’s a beautiful knife!
@@nandayane It is. It arrived a few hours after my comment. The Walk and Talk on it is sooo satisfying.
Nice to hear from you again.....always interesting and entertaining.
Stay sharp & Peace,
Stephan
Good stuff. 😂
I appreciate this video
Pete, I've been a long time subscriber under a different channel. I started this one with the idea of telling parents how to get their autistic children invovled in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Just saw in another one of your videos from a while back where you talked about ASD. Really appreciate you man. I'm building my son the Ultimate Uncle Randy Buck 110 collection, lol. Have about 15 so far in almost all the stealth runs, super steels, for about 20 years now. I don't edc a 110 but it's fun to collect as a piece of Americana.
Wonderful vid done by a pretty wonderful human being. Thanks Pete.
Keep doing what you’re doing 👍🏻✌🏻
No bs..! I love these vid's Pete... ❤👍Stay well.
Thank you for the introduction, that was a really nice video. It's unbelievable how many of the same experiences I've had in 2023. But what Mora was thinking with this step, I can't make sense of it. It makes no sense.
Thanks Pete. You are a true joy to watch. Here’s to 2024.
Great wrap up! My daughter would love your music choices and reference to succession.
I FINALLY got a PS5, 49 hours into XVI and I am LOVING it. Sorry for the caps haha. I’m just so happy with how well Square did with this release. Agree that the side quests aren’t great but man, the maps are so nice that I’m happy to run fetch quests for the NPCs just to be out in the world.
On another note, stoked to see you use the Belt Grinder attachment! That’s my main tool for sharpening and blade mods. Looking forward to your content in 2024!
I just love this guy
We like watching the videos YOU make. We like you Pete. If we wanted reviews of the newest hottest thing, we could watch other channels. Your content is different. Just do what makes you happy. "If you build it, they will come". Thanks for everything!
I need to give baldurs gate 3 more time I think. The druid grove about put me to sleep. Cool to see you played 1, 2 and Icewind Dale as well.
Not all of us enjoy metal complex type content, you've been a favorite of mine since I got into knives your videos are just good content
My wife and I both loved the Dungeons and Dragon movie, we’re super surprised by how much we enjoyed it!
My wife and I both went to it too, and it seemed like a rare delight in a world full of cheap movies trying to make a quick buck out of an exciting franchise
Cheers mate, great start to a Monday morning
Good to see you back🎉
Yeah, that was an interesting 45 minutes, 👍🏻.
Have a great 2024! 👍🏻!
I love the yeti gobox. Have the slightly larger one as my gear tote in the backseat of my truck.
Yeah this yeah has been financially challenging in a lot of ways, rising cost of living is hitting everyones pockets. I was somewhat responsible this year and only purchased three knives, a Kubey Tityus in Ti and 14c, Kizer Drop Bear in Ti lc200n and Kizer Original in fat carbon and 20cv.
Happy with all of them, got them at a reasonable price, but they will probably be the last for a while until things stabilise.
Thanks!
It really was a banger of a year for video games.
Thanks Pete!
You always a great resource and somewhat reliable as far as I know. ❤ In your upcoming review of worksharp grinder perhaps you could shine some light on what a good combination would be for a combination of a hand grinding stone? For instance a Japanese natural stone “grit 6000-8000” 22:28
Managed to get my hands on a Stump Lifter. Love it, makes me happier than all but one of my other knives.
I can definitely agree with the cost of living and inflation putting restraint on
purchasing just about anything.
Such is the agenda. A very slow slide... into depravity, as planned by the d-Elitists for their Next World dis-Order :/
Great video, man. One of my favorites in a long time. My favorite strictly knife guy is Metal Complex. Rtic jugs are every bit as good as Yeti for half the price. I don’t know about coolers and such.
interesting.. field notebook is out and getting used... Thank you Mate and GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR VISION(FAMILY).. You are the Laboratory KING
Cool stuff. I’ll check out your suggestions
I'm so sorry for your loss
What I want to mention is you look great. Way better than ever. Keep it up 👊🏼
Keep it up! It’s great having a non-US perspective in my UA-cam rotation
ok but why did that bin edit at the start actually make me tear up a bit?
Superb as always Pete, you're the highlight of my sub box
Please continue to make videos. Your videos are very entertaining and informative.
Great reflection on 2023 and the current state of the knife enthusiasts hobby
Of all the people on the net, Pete you are the one who knows whats what. I trust your opinions. Think Gerber is and always has been not very good knives. Chris Reeves is one smart man, but $500 for one of his frame lock knives is absurd. For a construction worker, a Cold Steel Recon-1 and a Leatherman Wave get it done on the job. Thanks Pete for your knowledge and your videos.
Enjoyed your little axe section! I have a similar, a Husqvarna Carpenter axe, back when they were selling them for cheaper, and i love the silly thing
Modded Leatherman Wave, check, PM 2 in 15v, check, Stretch in K390, check, Thanks Pete!
I finally figured out that the Huusk knife reminds me of the Sparrow car in the Austin Powers Goldmember movie. This year I started edc-ing a Civivi Elementum Fixed Blade in place of my usual Buck 112. This week I ordered a Civivi Mini Elementum Fixed Blade because I have A LOT of tree branches that I need to baton into firewood.😉 Actually, I plan on carrying it to open mail, packages, dog/cat food bags. These cheap PRC knives are actually built rather nicely, and sharpen razor sharp on a KME. Alex at OUTDOORS55 convinced me that any knife can be sharpened AND MAINTAIN a sharp edge. So far, IMO he is correct. I also like the design of the Civivis. What is that fruit you cut at 32:35? Thanks for this video Pete. I hope you have a great 2024!! I fully agree with you about Alex at OUTDOORS55. Definitive sharpening videos!!
HUGE fan of the channel!!! Please keep doing what you do and I completely agree with Maxlvledc and outdoors 55. God bless you friend from Texas! Aaron
I agree with you about that Mora foo foo!
Such a likable sensible fellow. Not advanced and not a gem but just tells it like it is.
Oh, mate, so pleased to see Mitski name checked! Must also get round to the D&D film. Happy new year, dude.
I'm really excited to finally get a spyderco manix in magnacut. Just got the shipping notification today from my pre-order. I can definitely say that of the 20+ manix 2 varieties that i have, the magnacut version will definitely be one of them.
Budget, yea thats a thing that slows us down. Modding with cottege industrial folks is a way to go to keep ya smiling and support that talent. Few years ago, I started making my favorites mine. An n old 940-1401 slowly became a grail, rebladed 2 years ago with magnacut at 61HRC at 10 thousanth BTE on a .09 inch blade stock. OMG the things a razor now, and Ozborne's reverse tanto still gives the blade stock utility strength. I'm so happy with the results that I'm gonna get the original 20cv blade ground to same demensions. For a current service fee well below 100 bucks Pete. Then Benchmade comes out with the Taggedout, Boker Germany with the TRPPR, and Sandrin's Monza all extremly slicy with no downside. all drool worthy. But my modded 940 is keeping me happy. Geometry, geometry, geometry, with handdle comfort next in line, like your Greely.
great video
Agree regarding the new Mora Ash series. The classic series with the red wooden handle ones are flat out better in every aspect one can think of. And well under €30.
Prices have gone up this year for sure, but I also feel like there have been more sales this year for brands that don’t go on sale. I picked up
a Para-3 LW in S90V for like $100USD, and a coated m4 delica for like $90. I’ve seen the stretch 2 in K390 go on sale for $100
I got brand new Spyderco Zoomer for $270 after holding off on it for years. I'm well chuffed!
@@nickiesiple5222 That is a lot of money!
I still have my D&D character sheets from the early 80s. Haven't played in many years.
I have the Ken Onion blade grinder also. I look forward to seeing what kind of results you get with it. Especially when you get to stropping. I have some of the Worksharp stropping belts and lately got several leather belts. Interested to see if the diamond stropping compounds on the belts work as well for you as hand stropping.
