This man is on a whole different level from all other detailers I've seen. The perfect flawless transition of sanding through imperfections of orange peel and clear coat and making it look better than it came from factory is serious skill.

This just blows me away. Pure Genius. You've sold me the idea, and now I'm looking to follow your methods. I like the length of your tutorials. However, please could you include at least 1 demonstration at normal speed per video. Love what you've done here; any chance you can demonstrate on the piano back plastic 'A' 'B' & 'C' pillars? Keep up the excellent work.

    hello,
you did an amazing job! Removing orange peel seems possible for me DIY kinda guy.
i have got my super soft pearlescent black honda repainted (rear doors, rear fender and pillars, trunk lid and rear bumper). there are a lot of nibs, a few paint overspray and obviously orange peel.
i have decided that i will correct the orange peel other defects myself and will polish it.
i was going to do dry sanding to remove orange peel and i have only the forced rotation DA polisher only, no orbital sander!
i wanted to know that can i dry sand by hand using kovax tolecut k1500, k2000 and Bluflex k3000?? or should i go for wet sanding with 3M papers?
    plz do reply! thanks

Looks like you sanded a complete layer of clear off that was sitting on the existing paint coating

@@007lutherking can see a shinny halow where the layers change, I've sanded down enough cars as a auto refinisher to know what they mean

@@krislimmer6532 oh you meant he sanded off the whole clear coat. I thought you were implying there's multiple clear coat levels.
Also no if he had sanded clear coat, the base paint would have died his pads black.
He is a professional and its easy to figure out when you burn through the clear coat

@@007lutherking you do realize that there is not necessarily a base coat under a clear coat? 🤣
When panels are blended only a part of the panel can be painted in base coat (where the damage is), the rest of the panel is sanded down to p1000 grit and you just spray new clear over the previously existing one so you have clear coat on top of clear coat. This is to avoid mismatching colors.
Watching the video you can clearly see that he removed most of the new clear that was put on the panel. You can see the area where the old clear meets the new clear, those are the shiny halos that look like they weren't sanded. The guy himself even said "there's no transition to be seen" he meant the transition between the old and new clear.
The orange peel was so terrible because the guy that painted it laid the clear really thin or using too low pressure on his spray gun, barely putting it on and that's exactly why he sanded through so easily, the clear was really thin there.
"Also no if he had sanded clear coat, the base paint would have died his pads black. " This is only partly true, but this is the difference between a body shop worker and a detailer. You think that paint is primer, base coat, clear coat. But paint can look like: primer, base coat, clear coat, clear coat so YOU CAN sand through the clear without having base staining your pads. Because there's simply no base under that clear.
Don't teach guys that work in auto body and refinish because we spray that paint every day, 5 or 6 days in a week to put food on the table, we know the entire process of spraying the panel from bare metal to super shiny, and we buff paint better than most of the detailers that are around, because almost every paint job requires some amount of sanding and buffing to make it perfect, we do that shit on daily basis. I sand and buff more cars in a week than this guy does in 6 months 👍
