Watching this out of boredom
Someone said once that starting with the TV generation we forgot how to be bored, and now with social media we’ve forgotten how to be alone.
Humans are by nature a social animal!
I really love this.I love the tip given that when you are stressed out and you don't what to do when going through a challenge, you just take some out just to do nothing and stay bored.A great idea may just come out of that boredom.
That's why sometimes I love to be alone, not using my phone, computers, TV and video games. Not even music. I just love to give some space for my thoughts to be heard out loud.
You still do this?
@@ooo5_593I hope he does
The meta level of irony while watching this is mindblowing.
What's meta level? Do you mean surreal?
What even does that mean
Watching this for a class. I agree with boredom giving rise to creative solutions and it can allow you to be present.
The mind works best when there are no conflicting thoughts. Wandering thoughts are a hindrance to creativity. That's why meditation which calms and quietens the mind is so effective.
Im trying not to be too bored at home: im going to the local Tavern once a week, I might go to church again (im a non-believer), and im taking the dogs for short walks more. I think having a routine to look forward to helps fight being bored, especially in middle age.
A church is a nice place to settle in with boredom because it’s usually in those moments of silence and wandering we are able to experience God.
The cure for boredom is to embrace it.
were you able to watch this whole video and focus for 1:17, or were you bored? ;)
Very bored.
i agree with adding subtitles. i have impaired hearing and the soundtrack sounds very muffled and garbled to me. subtitles would be a great help...
Don't worry, you didn't miss anything.
So strange, I thought UA-cam always offered automatic subtitles, which are rarely great but better than nothing. But they must be turned off here. I'll never understand why the BBC seems so backward about this! When I've bought their movies over the years, it seemed to take forever before they started including subtitles, unlike every other movie on the market at that time. :(
Veritasium has covered this topic.
Good stuff.
The everyday routine generally means you are working. The body likes repetition. You are not necessarily bored , you are settled.
There are a thousand of videos saying this but these videos do not say how to enter the state of boredom so that we build up a habit of getting into the state of boredom regularly for our mind to get the time it needs in order to reset itself and sower our brain with loads of creative ideas. Can you make a video regarding the method of getting into the state of boredom through a repetitive task? Which repetitive task is the most effective one?
breathing?
Because this video is bullshit. It may sound profound, but there is absolutley nothing behind these empty words
I feel boredom hurts me, I always need to do something.
I was actually feeling bored when this was recommended
#lets stop watching this to get boredom
I wonder hw many ppl ended up here searching for that so called dopamine hit
Just wTch bbc for boredom content
One of the main reasons people become prone to boredom is that they haven't learned to manage it. So paradoxically, the more you allow it, the sooner you figure out how to manage it.
I never learned to manage it, and i had plenty of boredom in my life. This whole video doesnt make sense
@@RealMonoid Can you start with one thing in the video that you didn't understand?
My mind doesn't wonder. I end up staring at the ceiling until I halucinate, seeing patterns move around, end up seeing pictures. Works better with carpet though. I'll see a woman looking into a mirror or a masquerade.
I guess what I mean is my mind doesn't wonder in the way a normal mind wonders. It doesn't really benefit me to see these things.
on rare occasions I'll see random future events by letting my mind wander but I have 0 control over it and its always dumb things like seeing me buy a book.
I've seen enough to think time is just a needle on a record of events. all events exist now. The Universe is an event happening all at once and yet, forever.
It gives one time to stare at ones Navile//
Navel? :)
