Thoroughly agree, Claire foy is amazing and although I think Olivia Colman also does an excellent job, Claire's portrayal of Elizabeth is the best acting I have seen for a long time
It's so fascinating how Charles was both a victim of his family's cold-heartedness and elitism against the woman he loved, and the guilty party in his destruction of Diana's life. Abuse is a cycle indeed.
The family has to be cold hearted. As monarchy, your not entitled to your own opinion or speak out against anything, because otherwise it would hugely affect public opinion. The Crown has to always prevail over family or the monarchy collapses
Charles was an self entitled ass. Anne has said multiple times that Elizabeth was a warm and caring mother, as much one could be with her busy life. Elizabeth gave them independence so that they can have the very tiny freedom the royal family has. But Charles got too greedy. It makes me think how Anne is still more Monarch material that the actual heir. They had similar upbringing. Anne was more hated by the public and press for her rude and straight to the point character. But nowadays she along with the queen and William are the most popular royal.
Tywysog Cymru has got to be my favorite. Josh O'Connor really shines there and gives a level of depth and complexity to Prince Charles that I definitely did not expect going into it. His monologue at the end when he's dressed as a king is one of the best moments on the show.
My bias is Hyde Park Corner. It's where everything started and that haunting scene where Queen Mary curtsies to the new Elizabeth Regina gave me chills and had stuck to me ever since.
Yep. Especially when Princess Margaret starts walking and the Queen Mother says, "Wait " Like she is no longer your sister, she is your queen, and you must respect her.
I personally love 48:1. The prologue with Claire Foy back as a Young Elizabeth, along with a young Margaret Thatcher perfectly setting up their rivalry throughout the episode. And in their meeting at Buckingham Palace, you understand how their upbringings shaped who they are. Thatcher grew up with nothing and had to work hard and be self-reliant in order to become the successful and powerful woman she is who is. Whereas Elizabeth, while privileged, traveled around the world and immersed herself in different cultures and people. It was a brilliant episode in my opinion.
Absolutely love this show. So well written. One of my all-time favorite episodes is S1x10 Gloriana. Especially when Elizabeth has to break Margaret's heart and tell her she can't marry Townsend. The heartbreak in Elizabeth's voice and the look of devastation in Margaret's face. Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby were brilliant in their roles.
That episode where she had a nervous breakdown (I am unsure if that’s what it’s called) was really good because it highlighted Vanessa's great acting and Margaret's hurt.
Assassins is definitely one of my favorites. I love Churchill as a character. It really gave John Lithgow a lot of time to shine. His conversation with Graham Sutherland was one of its highlights, as well as their confrontation after the reveal of the portrait. The dialogue is top-notch too, lots of memorable moments in that episode.
That scene in the Dear mrs Kennedy episode, where the queen finds out what Jackie been saying about her behind her back, is pure gold. Probably the best acting I've seen and it gets me every time I rewatch it. She says it all without speaking. Brilliant.
My top 3 has to be: 1) Aberfan: Broke my heart to pieces but still what a masterpiece 2) Paterfamilias: So heart wrenching to watch the death of Prince Philip's sister's entire family and both Prince Philip's and Charles' struggles in Gordonstoun, this episode really touched my heart 3) Bubbikins: Princess Alice's story was amazing to see, what an interesting episode ♥️♥️
Okay since no one is talking about it, “Beryl” was plain beautiful and painful. Margaret’s desire to have someone to marry and settle down with even though she knew nothing about Tony. Her whole life has been a tragedy after Peter and that last scene when her almost naked photo was in newspaper and she was dancing to “I Only Have Eyes For You”, for once in her life feeling alive again. Vanessa was mesmerizing.
I love that scene. He was portrayed as such a condescending man toward his family. However, he had no problem accepting an allowance from them. .... PEACE.
I haven't rewatched season 1 and 2 for a while but I personally like those collections of episodes better than season 3 and 4. The stand outs overall although were The Act of God and Aberfan.
Wow, "Vergangenheit" was also my favourite episode, I was pretty sure that it wouldn't appear here, as the the list was narrowing down. I'm surprised you didn't include "Paterfamilias", that one is almost perfect with its pacing, juxtaposition and emotional impact
This episode’s also my favorite, the sheer audacity of Edward VIII to be friends with Hitler and basically turn into a Nazi spy is just disgusting and unbelievable to this day. The whole world dodged a bullet with his abdication.
Paterfamilias should be number one. The actors who played young phillip and Charles were so compelling. The treatment of Young Charles was heartbreaking. Beryl and paterfamilias are my favorites.
I cried at the beginning of the Aberfan, but my favorite one is Fagan. I loved the parallels between the population’s needs and problems and the royal family who actually does nothing very constructive but, despite that, claim to live in wealthness and ask respect for « all what they did for this country » as they love to repeat it... that made me think that they are just living on a very big welfare.
Who made the writers right? 'Does nothing constructive?' They does far more than president of India does. Those writers should live in a 3rd world country. Then they will know how lucky they are for having someone like HER. What more these writers want from the Queen? Only in absolute monarchy the queen can do something more.
My favorite one after Mrs. Kennedy had an appointment to meet for brunch with the Queen. I loved how the Queen took everything in stride but later showed Mrs. Kennedy what the Queen was made of when she faced the King of Gowanda and danced with him it was shocking but it proved only she was tough enough to dance with him to guarantee that there was an agreement to the alliance between the West and the African King Gowanda.
My favourite episode so far is definitely "Fagan" from Season 4. Although it's admittedly fabricated, since we don't know for sure what the Queen and Fagan discussed, it was a brilliant way for the writers to address the unemployment crisis brought about by Thacher's reign.
Absolutely. And that final scene in which the estate is chanting Maggie's name. You can't beat a successful war to unite the country. If it hadn't been for the Falklands she was gone by morning.
Paterfamilias (season 2 episode 9) should have made the list imo. I felt the episode portrayed prince philip's struggles during his childhood well with the loss of his sister Cecile, schizophrenic mother, and also his own relationship with a young Charles. The scene where he is walking through Nazi Germany for his sisters funeral was beautifully done and chilling at the same time.
While my favorite episode made the list, my favorite moment in it didn’t: the kneeling of Queen Mary before Elizabeth after the king’s death... Also loved Bubbikins! Jane Lapotaire, who played Philip’s mother, Princess Alice, was outstanding!
For me is when the Queen gives Prince Charles a tongue lashing. He was behaving like a child. I sure hope that the Queen can live for eons in England/United Kingdom (not sure one which is it)
Although it was fictional, Elizabeth did encounter with the poor man who broke into Buckingham Palace and asking for her help. It was so painful considering that she clearly wanted to do something but she can't and doesn't have the power to do anything. Brings back memories of what her grandmother Mary of Teck told her about how difficult it was to do a job where you can't do anything at all.
My favorite episode is when Princess Margaret goes to Washington, D.C. and has dinner with President Johnson. The riddles they were making up together were hysterical!
My own personal top 4 1 Hyde Par Corner (The Sountrack and Churchill's Speach are first class) 2 Vergangenheit (To think our former King was a Nazi sympathizer) 3 Aberfan (I was 8 years old when the disaster happened , the same age as some of the poor souls that lost there lives ) 4 Windsor (I love the line when Elizabeth is trying on her Crown , and asks "Can i borrow it ? " )
I personally think that if Charles really loved Camilla always, he should have done whatever it took to be with her and not start a marriage to someone he'd just use to produce an heir
Even though Diana was used and then discarded, the crown is secured for the next generation mostly because of Diana who raised William to be a kind and relatable man who in turn has raised kind and relatable children. Tell me what type of offspring would’ve Charles and Camila produced? Just the sheer thought it brings chills down my spine.
This Royal Family is precious to the world. So much history knowledge. When our leadership is faltering, I always look to them and their people. Always.
Birthright hands a monarch a crown and a throne, but it is the monarch's force of will that keeps both. Elizabeth starts out unsure and unprepared in every way for her duties, but through sheer force of will, makes herself into a queen.
I'm not even a US citizen but "Dear Mrs. Kennedy" is just such an interesting portrayal of historic persona and events, so I would've expected that to be at least in the Top5. I also did not expect "Vergangenheit" to be #1, because as strong as that initial confrontation was, I didn't find it quite outstanding enough to be the absolute top of the list. ... Doesn't mean I dislike your list though, you've made some interesting choices. However, here's one from each series I would've prefered or at least loved to see in an honorable mentions section: *S1E5: Scientia Potentia Est* (in my Top3) *S2E2: The Company of Men* *S3E4: Bubbikins* *S4E4: Favourites*
Vergangenheit, somehow I knew this was going to be #1, followed by Aberfan. These are the only 2 episodes that had me googling, watching documentaries, and telling friends. The Margaret portrait episode is the other one I googled.
I saw ( somewgere) there was controversy about Josh O'Connor playing Prince Charles. but actually when hearing him speak it's the closest to the real Charles ever heard from an actor.
Bit late to this video, but the most painful and Shocking and Top best episode for me was "Aberfan" THAT left a Huge impact and the best in all seasons thus far. The second spot has to go to when lord Mountbatten is assassinated with his grandsons. That episode always makes me jump. I'm probably gonna get hate for this, But I absolutely love Prince Charles!! Yes, he treated Diana wrongly, but I can't hate him. I love both Diana and Charles, both on Screen and IRL. and I mean if Dianas own sons can forgive their father, why can't all of you?. I mean no disrespect, to your personal views, each to their own ofc. 😊 anyway good video! 👍
The Hereditary Principle, 48:1 and Margaretology are in the top 10 for me. ❤️ While The Hereditary Principle and Margaretology were so emotional, 48:1 gave me goosebumps. The way Gillian Anderson portrays Margaret Thatcher is uncanny. ❤️❤️❤️
Let's straighten something out. Edward VIII abdicating didn't clear the way for Elizabeth to eventually become queen; his lack of a direct heir did. Had he been allowed to marry Mrs. Simpson (and they had never had children, which they didn't) & keep the crown, Elizabeth would've still become queen, it just wouldn't have been until Edward VIII died in 1972.
My favorites are: Favourites (showing the Queen's relationship towards her children), Bubbikins (Princess Alice's background story), 48:1, and Pride and Joy.
Dear Mrs' Kennedy showed a side of the Queen we rarely think of being within her. Very human, with human emotions and hard-to-control ones as well. Only one of many favorites.
Episodes I like 1. Wolferton Splash - limericks between Townsend and King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's wedding, carolers sang for King George VI and his family, Princess Margaret and King George VI's duet of Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered (Jared and Vanessa should reuinte for another project, especially Claire and Matt) 2. Margaretology - PM Harold Wilson reciting LBJ and Princess Margaret's limericks to Queen Elizabeth II, especially Margaret's "a---hole in Buckingham Palace" line. 3. Vergangenheit - Prince Philip's "gold star" line, Queen Elizabeth II shutting her own uncle out. 4. Hyde Park Corner - the rise of Princess Elizabeth to a Queen. 5. Bubbikins - Princess Alice and Prince Philip's heartwarming moment at the end of the episode 6. Matrimonium - Queen Elizabeth's pregnancy and the use of "Twilight Sleep". 7. Beryl - Princess Margaret's "topless" picture and the romance between her and Tony. 8. Misadventure - Prince Philip fixes Queen Elizabeth's dress and kisses her on the neck, the palace staff almost saw the Queen naked under the sheets. 9. Dear Mrs. Kennedy - Queen Elizabeth flexing her corgis to Jackie Kennedy and the dress suggestion scene. 10. Paterfamilias - I felt bad for Philip because his sister was killed, his father moved to another country and failed to recognized him as a son, his mother left him and he managed to finish Gordonstoun's gate while whimpering and panting in pain and suffering. Same as Charles, he was bullied and tormented throughout his life at Gordonstoun since he wanted to go to Eton despite his family was against it. Can't wait for the Charles and Diana storyline and Princess Margaret's "Imelda Marcos" line. 💖
I feel sorry for the Queen. Her job requires that she not give opinions or get involved, giving people the opportunity to complain she is cold and distant. Yet she clearly isn’t. If she showed up early at Aberfan, all eyes were on her and not the victims. I totally understand her decision. You can’t follow the rules, then get blamed for doing so.
If Vergangenheit wasn't number one I was gonna be disappointed. That episode left me with chills and staring at the screen in bewilderment for 5 minutes.
I'm currently watching season 3. I like pretty much all episodes, but those that stick with me the most so far are the ones that have to do with events involving the population. Every country has its historic moments and traumas, and I guess the show described some of the British ones (for example, I'm thinking of the Aberfan disaster or the big smoke in season 1). Being from another country, I didn't know about most of those events, so for me it was a first time discovery and I'll admit some of them made me tear up.

Elizabeth’s confrontation with her uncle is my favorite moment on the show. Claire Foy is incredible.
I agree!!
Very chilling to see the actual photographs of this vile couple meeting Hitler and inspecting German troops at the end if the episode.
I love that part!
Thoroughly agree, Claire foy is amazing and although I think Olivia Colman also does an excellent job, Claire's portrayal of Elizabeth is the best acting I have seen for a long time
Indeed! I’ve watched it many many times. It’s chilling
It's so fascinating how Charles was both a victim of his family's cold-heartedness and elitism against the woman he loved, and the guilty party in his destruction of Diana's life. Abuse is a cycle indeed.

@@isawanactualcicada1449 well i guess u could say they paid a heavy price for that
@@isawanactualcicada1449 did their coldness really end up helping the monarchy in the end?
@@colbymcarthur7871 Well, they're still standing.
Charles was an self entitled ass. Anne has said multiple times that Elizabeth was a warm and caring mother, as much one could be with her busy life.

Churchill saying: "God save the Queen" for the first time always gave me chills
"Pride and Joy" is one of the quieter episodes, but it's definitely up there. Kirby and Foy are incredible when they act together.
"Elizabeth is my pride, BUT margot is my joy"😍😍
Agreed! Pride and Joy is my favorite.
Foy/Kirby and Colman/Carter were two absolutely dynamite duos.
Love that episode. The final conversation between Margaret and Elizabeth was especially incredible
Tommy Lascelles will forever be an underrated part of the first two seasons. That man was pure savage
“The Crown must win. Must always win.” One of my favorite quotes of Queen Mary of Teck!
Tywysog Cymru has got to be my favorite. Josh O'Connor really shines there and gives a level of depth and complexity to Prince Charles that I definitely did not expect going into it. His monologue at the end when he's dressed as a king is one of the best moments on the show.
Aberfan was a rough episode to watch. Good, but heart-wrenching.
I agree
Agreed
I just saw the clip from the episode and found it horrific. I'd hate to see the entire episode....just heartwrenching.
@@rhondabitler2461 Honestly, I sobbed through the whole episode.
@@DreamsInWild I understand completely! So sad.
Okay but Bubbikins is like one of the cutest episodes ever and Princess Alice is a true gem ✨
One of my faves as well!
I legit hate everyone who hurt Princess Alice. She had a heart of gold despite everything she went through!

The last seen is so beautiful
What about “Margeretology”.
Helena Bonham Carter’s portrayal of Princess Margaret has to be my favorite!
I expected that to be on the list, definitely one of my favorites
And her crude limericks she is a queen!
And Magarets "vice queen"..pun.Was hilarious
I can't believe there's not a single scene with Margaret on this list...
Ikr!
Disappointed 😥
That episode where she had a nervous breakdown (I am unsure if that’s what it’s called) was really good because it highlighted Vanessa's great acting and Margaret's hurt.

I absolutely LOVE Claire Foy as young Queen Elizabeth! She is a star
OMG I’m obsessed with The Crown! Emma as Princess Di! I went completely nuts! She so deserved the Golden Globe! Masterpiece! I love Netflix!
My top 3 has to be:
1) Aberfan: Broke my heart to pieces but still what a masterpiece

Paterfamilias should have been on this list. It's one of the best episodes ever, so compelling
Yes! I agree. It honestly is top 5 for me
Totally agree
!!!! i was surprized it did not make it to the list
My jaw will always drop with the scene when Queen confronted the King who abdicated!
I love that scene. He was portrayed as such a condescending man toward his family. However, he had no problem accepting an allowance from them. .... PEACE.
I hope Netflix can win Best Drama Series with Season 4 of The Crown at this years Emmys!
And golden globes too
I haven't rewatched season 1 and 2 for a while but I personally like those collections of episodes better than season 3 and 4. The stand outs overall although were The Act of God and Aberfan.
Act of God reminds me SO much of our 2020 with COVID19 afflicting, just, globally.
Wow, "Vergangenheit" was also my favourite episode, I was pretty sure that it wouldn't appear here, as the the list was narrowing down. I'm surprised you didn't include "Paterfamilias", that one is almost perfect with its pacing, juxtaposition and emotional impact

Aberfan is a masterpiece of television
Paterfamilias should be number one. The actors who played young phillip and Charles were so compelling. The treatment of Young Charles was heartbreaking. Beryl and paterfamilias are my favorites.
Yes! That episode is incredibly moving and it basically outlines why Charles is the way he is. His basic need for love and attention is heartbreaking.

The original freeloaders

"Aberfan" breaks you open. The story if Princess Alice too.
Everytime Claire Foy said 'Ohh' is the best
My favourite episode so far is definitely "Fagan" from Season 4. Although it's admittedly fabricated, since we don't know for sure what the Queen and Fagan discussed, it was a brilliant way for the writers to address the unemployment crisis brought about by Thacher's reign.
I loved that scene! Very well written..
Absolutely. And that final scene in which the estate is chanting Maggie's name. You can't beat a successful war to unite the country. If it hadn't been for the Falklands she was gone by morning.
3-Hyde Park Corner
2- Dear Mrs. Kennedy
1- Everytime The Queen has to throw shades or talk down to people like her PMs😎
I cant blv no one has mentioned the courtesy that her grandmother makes to the grand daughter JUST crowned Queen
Please do more videos about The Crown! My favourite episode personally was "Hyde Park Corner". It was just the perfect start into the series!
One episode that I watch on repeat. It's stunning.
Honestly, any episode with Helena Bonham Carter deserved top spot! Or the episode where the Queen spends time with all her children in season 4.
Brilliant show. This will always be on my top five Netflix originals.
Aberfan is absolutely the best episode of the show thus far.
I liked the Marionettes! .. I think it was a good learning curve for the Queen, all series are so well written and acted, just brilliant
I love the Mrs Kennedy episode it is very well done and shows Mrs Kennedy’s elegance and shyness well
It was historically inaccurate to the max.
I kinda expected to have the one about Phillip in school on here
While my favorite episode made the list, my favorite moment in it didn’t: the kneeling of Queen Mary before Elizabeth after the king’s death... Also loved Bubbikins! Jane Lapotaire, who played Philip’s mother, Princess Alice, was outstanding!
MsMojo, how about a video on subtle details from The Crown? A top ten for the running mice, German episode names etc etc?
For me is when the Queen gives Prince Charles a tongue lashing. He was behaving like a child. I sure hope that the Queen can live for eons in England/United Kingdom (not sure one which is it)
Aberfan was a compelling and horribly tragic episode. Thoroughly enjoyed all of the crown, what an excellent series.
The dialogue was fictional. The incident was not.
My favourite has to be Paterfamilias. This episode explains the past of Prince Philip.
I also loved the one where Thatcher was being stubborn on South Africa, 48:1 and ‘Fairytale’ on Diana and Charles both from season 4.
My favourite characters are Winston Churchill, Princess Diana, Tommy Lascelles, George VI and the two Margarets (Thatcher and Princess)
I am just in love with "Dear Mrs. Kennedy". One of the best episoded i have seen in a drama series for a long time.
My favorite episode is when Princess Margaret goes to Washington, D.C. and has dinner with President Johnson. The riddles they were making up together were hysterical!
My own personal top 4
1 Hyde Par Corner (The Sountrack and Churchill's Speach are first class)
2 Vergangenheit (To think our former King was a Nazi sympathizer)
3 Aberfan (I was 8 years old when the disaster happened , the same age as some of the poor souls that lost there lives )
4 Windsor (I love the line when Elizabeth is trying on her Crown , and asks "Can i borrow it ? " )
Josh O’Connor is amazing. That’s it.
These were all great but "Paterfamilias" and "Bubbikins" were absolutely enthralling.
I personally think that if Charles really loved Camilla always, he should have done whatever it took to be with her and not start a marriage to someone he'd just use to produce an heir

Tywysog Cymru should be in at least Top 3. And watching this reminds me of how phenomenal Claire For was as the Queen!
Birthright hands a monarch a crown and a throne, but it is the monarch's force of will that keeps both. Elizabeth starts out unsure and unprepared in every way for her duties, but through sheer force of will, makes herself into a queen.

John Lithgow was amazing!
My all time fave is Aberfan
Aberfan..that's it that's my favorite..oh the silence 😢😢
Even though I knew how it was going to end, I was really rooting for Charles and Diana while they were touring australia
I’m just in season one and so many favorite in this season is when Winston Churchill gets his official portrait painted. Raw and good
I'm not even a US citizen but "Dear Mrs. Kennedy" is just such an interesting portrayal of historic persona and events, so I would've expected that to be at least in the Top5. *S2E2: The Company of Men*
*S3E4: Bubbikins*
*S4E4: Favourites*

Wolferton Splash - limericks between Townsend and King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's wedding, carolers sang for King George VI and his family, Princess Margaret and King George VI's duet of Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered (Jared and Vanessa should reuinte for another project, especially Claire and Matt)
5. Bubbikins - Princess Alice and Prince Philip's heartwarming moment at the end of the episode
To me the Favourites episode with her children is just amazing, I love that one!
Love all 4 season of the Crown ❤ I Look for to see season 5 and season 6 of the Crown❤
There's only going to be season 5 of The Crown ... they announced a while back that they decided not to do a season 6
@@tabs157 season 5 and 6 will be in 2022 and 2023 respectively
Josh O’ Connor did a great job as Charles.
He looks far better than Charles....
48:1 for me is by far the best one, it should’ve been at least listed as top 10
Churchill: I do not care for your painting sir!
Stannis: The painting is *mine* by rights!
My favourites are the two Wales-episodes from season 3, both heartbreaking in their own way.
Interesting video
