As i grew up with Vickie winans version as my favorite and a #1 fan of the clark sisters, i only appreciate this version even more. And anyone dogging this singer or her version of this song knows nothing about music versatility and the craft and range on an absolutely great day Karen Clark Sheard has. She did a great version here. Obvious hoarseness in mid to upper register but still struck through it like the Clark sister she is! Very pleased with this version!!!
karen could do opera, i havent heard an opera note from her n years, that i beautiful. i wonder if karen has done anything similar like this. Big Karen never left, she just lost weight, karen didnt lose anything but weight, but she gain ANNOINTING which is ALL anyone should be concerned with!!!! This was phenomenal!!!
if dottie recorded this song it would have to have been b4 1983 b/c thats the year that sandi patti released hers. although i love VW version, which came out in 1988 and was 1st time i'd heard the song, the best version i heard so far was S.P.'s 1983 live performance.
Those who criticize this video, or comparing her to other singer, or maybe just that she sounds hoarse, I feel sorry for you, cus you didn't get the message at all. Absolutely this video great, with a beutiful message.
How do you know that.Interesting info. Thanks for posting.I was thinking, wow this song is really hard to sing.I wondered if she & Vickie new each other or have ever worked together. The amazing thing with Karen is that she is so spontaneous with her arrangements and she never reproduces anything. She always puts a fresh spin on a song but that can be bad for plays because Blocking may be set to every riff or run and the actors and dancers have choreographed movements they have to follow.
karen's mom woulod have clicked out aboutthis performance...lol wow..... #blankstare - all songs aint for everybody. but i STILL love her! Vicki owns this song. too many runs....
not sure. i know the sang together with a choir at the end of hallelujah chorus (gosple virsion). i think i was at the opening show so i guess it depends on which one you went to.
I like this song, but the version is the one by Sandi Patti in 1983. Sorry, but Sandi Patti got this song from Dotti Rambo who asked tp sing this song. Sandi Patti is the only who does this song justice.
I like Karen. I still have 3 of her cd's (yes-cd's-stashed away). She didn't sound bad. This is the thing. Legends of the same era shouldn't perform the others song unless its a personal tribute. It was sort of a disrespect to VW. I'm most certain that Karen with her amazingly powerful voice had plans of up-staging Vickie.
I don't care what anyone says she sang this song.........stop being so worried about whether a person missed a note or not , I am quite sure frivolous things like that don't concern God at all. . Most of the time the people making the negative comments about how a person sounds can't sing a lick...
she did good yal, karen always sounds great just because u guys have never heard her just sing normal and hold a note, you think she sounded bad, she might hav been horse bt she didnt sound bad. some of u can't even do what she just did!! just because she didnt do the riffs and runs her and her sisters are known for, u think she was bad?? mane please yal is trippin. but wen it all boils down, whether u liked it or not, it wasn't for yal, it was her praise to God!! thank u!
Um... I love this song and take nothing from Karen or Vickie but unless I'm mistaken - and I may be - Sandi Patty was the first to sing this song. And just clarity and timbre of "voice", she hit it out of the park: watch?v=56ovSaoWpOM The great thing is that EVERYBODY gets to sing in Heaven! But, I cannot wait to hear JESUS sing! Jesus is going to blow us away - NO DOUBT!
i love vickie winans version............and i lpove this version but we must realize that karen was hoarse which is obvious at the end...also when vickie sung this it was over 10 years ago....now imagine karen singing this 10 years ago....
um...i hate reading comments on youtube....yall guys make it hard for people to actually enjoy music for what it is! Dang man, just chill and enjoy what people have to offer...if I'm not mistaken I dont think Q. Jones, B. Gordon, M. Knowles, L. A. Reid, etc. are leaving opinions on these videos...I heard one producer actually talked about how inexperience and mediocre 'listeners' try to judge performers, and not really understand the art for what it is..lol UA-cam is a trip! lol
what?I love the clark sister and there are my favorite singers and karen is one of the best if no the best but I have to give to vickie this time she can lose she has many under belt lol!
yes..she's hoarse....but it happens....when you sing and preach as hard as she does?...it's natural...but I'm sure she takes vocal rest every now and again..go Karen!!!
I think this was a beautiful production. I just felt that the shouldhave hired Classically trained Black dancers who can actually do point work. Lithurgical Dancers should stick to just basic arm movement and leave actual movement to professional dancers. Other than the dancing distraction, this was a wondeful performance.
Karens version is better. Haters always want to hate for absolutely nothing n hate when a champion does it better and finessed it with a raspy voice at that 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 . THIS IS THE GOLDEN VERSION. VERY PRETTY and emotional. #TheQueenSlays
ROFL - yelling doesn't make you right. I'll concede that Sandi didn't do the song first, but my friend, she most definitely did it best. BUT - - before you start yelling again - LOL - ok, you're right. To each his own, yes? hehehe - you'd think I took money from you. ROFL. calm down.
Lets all admit that this is a one off bad day for Karen...Normally she would be able to tear up Vikki. But coincidentally, this tune was Vikk's best ever performance. So sorry Karen this was not the one to mess up on
I am sorry but I love this and EVANGEL, I just dont think the man should be coming out spinning in what APPEARS to be a dress. I was like, Say what!!!! I know it is a tunic, but when he turns at 4:26, it looks very femine. I am NOT implying he is gay, I am saying, his attire looks like a dress.
I never thought I'd see the day where Karen Clark Sheard would not be able to sustain a song in high range. This is one song where Karen (in my opinion) did NOT have the range to support this song. No shade to her, but there's only 2 people who have mastered this song perfectly to the end. That's Sandi Patti(y) & Vickie Winans. Sandi Patti set the bar extremely high for any female vocalist to attempt. Vickie challenged the song and I must say, did pretty good on it. Anyone else would have to re-arrange the song in a lower key and the singer in a different octave in order to masterfully master the song. But I'll give it to Karen tho, good try. Maybe if she would re-arrange the melody of the song and changed the key, she may have been able to pull it off.
@@sharkkeeper01 No my friend, You have plenty of seats. Hoarse or not, The proof is that Karen DID NOT EXECUTE THE SONG until the end. You hear it....and if you disagree, then you just have to agree to disagree. Because I'm not lying... you hear it. and again, the arrangement is too high for the popular Clark Sister Hunny...
@@sharkkeeper01 P.S. the arrangement is Vickie Winans recording, And if you have not heard her(Vicki) arrangement, go listen to hers first then & Sandi Patti's original version. Then that should let you know that Vickie Winans is vocally higher than Karen and Sandi Patti is vocally higher than both of them.
Not liking the song is one thing but saying Karen doesn't have the range is a flat out lie.... Karen range is higher than Vickies even in 2024 and always has been. She was definitely hoarse here, but again like what you like but dont lie and say Karen dont have the range baby Karen can mix belt in the 6th octave. And can pop a C6 in the middle of a run like its nothing...STILL at 63!!!!!! she had a bad day and thats ok
sounds like to me Karen was having some pitch problems on this song... Everybody can not sing this song... You have to have a high range to handle this song. Not many women can sing this. Either You are a high Alto or a soprano.
Hoarse or not, she STILL sung the glory outta this song. Every time I hear this song it makes me wanna get saved all over again. Bless Him!
I love to hear Mrs. Karen sing this song. Glory!!!!!
Karen wore this thang OUT! Hoarse and all and she still went off. The anointing makes the difference.
Wow listen to the beginning, i don't care what anyone says, Karen has some of the prettiest head tones in music !
MrChampagne94 yes the beginning sounded like perfection.
Love love love this.
Absolutely amazing! The two last dancers came out with fire. I say to the duet who danced - keep on giving God all the praise.
I don't know what all the fuss is all about because Karen Clark Sheard did her thing and sent forth the anointing for this production!!! KCS
As i grew up with Vickie winans version as my favorite and a #1 fan of the clark sisters, i only appreciate this version even more. And anyone dogging this singer or her version of this song knows nothing about music versatility and the craft and range on an absolutely great day Karen Clark Sheard has. I’m a little surprised that everyone is talking about the singer and not what she is singing about. We shall behold HIM face to face!!!!!!!!
This gives me chills
Trouble in my way

Her Head Voice Is Beautiful 👏🏽👸🏽✨ She Was Fighting This One Thru🙌🏽🙏🏽❤️
Yes, First Lady Karen Clark Sheard🙏🏽Amen✨🎚️✨
Praise The Lord🙌🏽

Karen did her best she was just sick and still blessed and praised God. Karen I love you and the anointing you have.
Beautiful!!! wonderful backdrop and production...one of my favorite songs.Wish I had been there.
if dottie recorded this song it would have to have been b4 1983 b/c thats the year that sandi patti released hers. although i love VW version, which came out in 1988 and was 1st time i'd heard the song, the best version i heard so far was S.P.'s 1983 live performance.

Wow! The song was beautiful, and the performers and dancers were gorgeous!!
Glory to God!
Simply Anoited & Beautiful!
I love this song and what a beautiful production! I'd love to see this whole show. Thanks for posting!
Awesome!
What glory it brings to our wonderful God!
Bless you for sharing this video with us all.
Karen sounds beautiful. Just beautiful. I also love Vickies version. I think Vickie Winans was literally fashioned to sing this song though.
This is so TOTALLY awesome!! It really touched my heart!!!
The only hoarse singer who CAN SANG this song the ultimate way.
awesome video.....she's really just singing pure here!
lol...this is the best one yet...these ppl on here be killin me...thank you for bringing that to their attention...lol
I think she does an amazing job, different voice but still big and grandiose beautiful
I must say that the Dance duet was wonderful!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing!

This is so AWESOME! WOW...
She sounds beautiful!!!!!!!!!
I agree. She would kill this in the studio.
Beautiful and so True!
To God be the glory.
I agree. I like this video. Karen was hoarse, but she still did what she does...MY GIRL!!
beautiful...everybody was
she sounds like old school at the end!
I'm a big karen fan and I can clearly hear that she is so hoarse but the slayer instinct in her still manifests.

Jesus is LORD! Worship Him!
Vickie actually worked with Karen on this song for this performance. She gave her a lot of tips. The song is very difficult to sing too.
karen's mom woulod have clicked out aboutthis performance...lol wow..... #blankstare - all songs aint for everybody. but i STILL love her! Vicki owns this song. too many runs....
we all listen to the voices.. but do we really get the message that she and so many others sing about??
not sure. i know the sang together with a choir at the end of hallelujah chorus (gosple virsion). i think i was at the opening show so i guess it depends on which one you went to.
do you know if i can order this, and which evangel cathedral is it? Thank you and god bless.
I like this song, but the version is the one by Sandi Patti in 1983. Sorry, but Sandi Patti got this song from Dotti Rambo who asked tp sing this song. Sandi Patti is the only who does this song justice.
yw, my pleasure!
So use to Karens home girl Vickie singing this.... Karen did a good job... She was def hoarse but pulled it thru
I know Vicky is Awsome, but it is Dottie Rambos song originally, Its about Jesus, that's who we shall behold!
yes
I like Karen. I still have 3 of her cd's (yes-cd's-stashed away). She didn't sound bad. This is the thing. Legends of the same era shouldn't perform the others song unless its a personal tribute. i LOOOOVEEEEE Dottie's version because it's the original and her voice is amazing, but i must agree. Sandi killed it in 83.

Karen Clark Sheard is an anointed singer, as well as Vickie so I can not compare the two. I liked this rendition, though she sounded a bit hoarse...

she is not praising any of YOU!!!!!!
ooh um yeah I prefer Sandi Patty, she's just screaming and running, sorry, no offense, she can sing though.

SupaHead1977 I hope in 6 yrs, you've acquired some musical knowledge. Then again with a name like Supa head...i doubt it.
Karen sounded a "HOT MESS" where is Vickie???
Im sorry, Vickie Winans owns this song, but nice try karen!
I just went and listened to Vicki, she wasn't that hot to me personally.
