- LYRICS:
Don't forget the wrong guy in line-up
Trying hard to be strong always rolling over
I will try guitar out, quoting scripture
Soon you won't have memories, only pictures
I wait but the time is not right, oh-oh-oh
I chase it much better every night, oh-oh-oh
I wait for the dark of his eyes, oh-oh-oh
My ego is quite out of hand, oh-oh-oh
Watch the flames go out,
Soon - No, now, that's my mission
I’ve taken away your natural purpose
That is what a loving--selfish, loving human does
That is what it sounds like to an insect
~
Hold that trial by night
I've been sitting with him all night
Hold my ears it's wrong
I can't listen to this too long
Pitchforks, fires in hand
I can't turn it around tonite
I want to get back,
Back to where I can sleep at night.
Wait for the back of his heart
Lesson learned
I'm trying but maybe too hard, like an Eskimo
I listen, but I - but I can't -- what I want to say…
My ego is out of control, yes I know
Please, can I go?
Can I hold it?
It's part of the show.
It saves me 2 dollars if kids do the work
Can we shake it
Up in time? I don't know
Destroy it
So destroy it
Just destroy it
Destroy it.
Burn it down, to the ground
--
This album does not and will not age.
It is a timeless underrated masterpiece.
Far ahead of its time.
2020 can confirm
Mmhm
A couple days till 2022 can confirm.
2022 and can confirm
I always wanted Jules to work on a new strokes album, but after listening to this, I want him to work on more voidz songs!!
Forizzle this went waayyyyy beyond my expectations this shit rocks
I️ agree. Let the strokes go and keep the Voidz going
Maynor Castillo they are coming
Well Jules and the Gang Has Become Unfrozen and are Rockin their Way Into 2020
@@talldood2112 yup The New Abnormal is on its way !
My favorite track from this extraordinary album. Maybe five or ten years from now people will realize how legendary Tyranny is.
The chorus is so emotionally powerful! And all the progressive building sounds and ryhthms are awesome. The moment Jules yells "yes I know" (at 4:30) and the following riffs make me wanna cry.
Lol it is legendary ngl
I love how supportive the comments are and the people who don't understand ask questions this is such a wonderful community I'm so happy to be a part of it
+Carlos ETC96 this made my day lmao
me too, it's awesome lol
Look at comments in wink you'll probably change your opinion about that
except for the live version elitists who hate anything with polish and quality
Julian got down in the crowd during this song in Chattanooga...didn't skip a beat...rocked everyones balls off...no balls left to speak of. Best. Concert. Ever. They were beyond amazing...they were the Voidz...
The fucking beginning with the guitar is the reason im alive its just so beautiful the way it subtly comes in and fuck
It took me a long time to like this album, even as a die-hard fan of The Strokes and Julians first solo album. I must say that this album is highly underrated. It's a true masterpiece if u just really listen to it and get used to the originality and the "weridness" i guess.
Peteral AGREED AND I RELATE
same 🖐
I TOTALLY agree with you, this happenned to me
Wholeheartedly agree with you, it's only after a couple of years of re-listening that I am able to properly appreciate these masterful pieces of work The Voidz have produced!!! It's like I wasn't able to listen and fully enjoy because it was too alien to my ears, but as I listen more and more and time passes it feels like I am able to unwrap layer by layer what is going on behind all the "noise"...when the music gets better with time you know you've found something special.
I love the dark tone of these songs
"Wait for the back of his heart
Lesson learned
I'm trying but maybe too hard, like an Eskimo
I listen, but I - but I can't -- what I want to say…
My ego is out of control, yes I know" best line
No puedo creer lo que es esta cancion,no puedo dimensionarla es demaciado buena😍😍🤩🤩
Idk why but I’ve always like the voidz over the strokes, ig it’s the raw texture it they keep, I feel like they’re right down the hall and I can feel the power have when they play certain parts can’t stop playing it on repeat, I guess the symbolism helps too
soon you won't have memories, only pictures. genius.
2:39 sounds like you're exploring multidimensional technological subconscious with a wise Native American showing you the way...
Julian, you're a maestro
Lmao so random
@@rogerjr.6588Ik lol I’m native and it caught me off guard but hey can’t say I’m mad hahaha 😂😂😂❤️
this is kind of the plot of xavier renegade angel
That's because he is 🤣. Distant cousin to the reservation
Ugh, the relocated became iams and wac arnold, oh no
A growler of a song that's the ultimate grower. When it finally hits, something clicks, and I Can't. Stop. Listening.
Recuerdo que fue la primera cancion que tocaron cuando fuimos a verlos en Guadalajara... Oh Dios cuando salio Julian fue lo maximo!!!!!!
So I went to see them at the observatory. And when he sang "soon you won't have memories, only pictures" he pointed at everyone in front holding their phones to the stage trying to record the show. I wonder what it feels like to watch a show your at through a screen. It must be disappointing.
i was there too.. nobody really gives a fuck about the voidz.. they only went to see Julian Casablancas
***** That really has nothing to do with what I said but ok...
they had their phones out cuz they could care less about the music they just wanted to see his face anyway.... but....o..k...
***** ahahhahahaha what the fuck are u saying????
Parvalicet i was really high when i wrote all this leave me alone
Im always amazed Julian Casablancas and his music.
Agreed
Man when that chorus comes back in & "wait for the back of his heart" I just die it's so good lol I wish I could write songs
This album is art, thank you Julian Casablancas
Come on bro, thanks to all the band.
When that bass kicks in at 0:35 it reminds me of Terminator 1 for some reason - dark chord changes / intense
hahaha agreed!
+reniisgod you nailed the imagery - oddly enough, those 'dark' chords are actually all Major chords, but just arranged in a flamenco-like sequence to give off that nightmarish uneasiness and power

I found The Voidz by accident, same way I found The Strokes. I can only describe it as finding a missing part of yourself you had no idea was lost.
Scary accurate 🥵
Yes, daddy. Yes.
It's almost like they could be planted as bait from the paranoid perspective, but sometimes just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't trying to get you..
MY GOD MAN, TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUTTA MY MOUTH
This is instrumentally stunning! Can't stop repeating it. Definitely my favourite from the album or maybe my playlist. Great intro, great pace/parts transitions, awesome guitar/bassline (wich reminds me a little bit of Joy Division) and drums, fierce vocals from Casablancas, sensationnal synth/keys sounds, excellent little solo at 1:56. Just a perfect tune.
+Alican Parlak Yeah, I hear a bunch of JD as well - this genre is called post-punk revival, which is a present day of post-punk. :)
Agreed on everything else, too!
I hate it how some people downrate this album simply because it's not Is This It, as they did with other JC-related albums.
Very good song 👏
The last 2 minutes of the song is one of my favorite moments from this album (my #1 album of 2014)
the fastest 6 mins of my life, feels like a 2 mins song tbh, the more i listen to it the shorter it feels
2020 and stills like yesterday!
One of my two biggest favs o nthe album, the other one being Eagles.
Much like the whole album, these tracks are dark, post-punk-revivalish, while some might recall a French version of post-punk such as coldwave.
But unlike much of his popular peers, Julian writes post-punk that intrigues, is catchy at the same time as being thought- and emotion-provoking. that's why he's still the king. Such a shame that some people don't learn what actually great is.
My ego is out of control
love this one..."soon you won't have memories only pictures..."
J'adore. Julian genial Alex Jeff Jake Amir Jeramy very good musicians Tyranny est un album vraiment hors du commun et great !!!!!

For me this song is the definition of joy, pure joy.. Like i am in a parallel universe...
Why this song doesn't have 1 million views?
I can only hear this song in the dark.

Try listening to it during a thunderstorm, you wont be disappointed..
Uno de los mejores discoooooooos
Very nice stuff, non for everyone's ears.
This is sick - perfect music for telling people the sht they need to hear. Seriously, either think about this song or listen to it while spilling your guts to someone else and it'll boost you to the best place

JULIAN COME TO GREECE.JOANNA FROM ATHENS
my faveeee!
amazing!
This song makes me feel like if an evil capitalist vampire came up to me while I'm walking home at night on my poorly lit streets but he can't take me because my ego is crazier than his
Por fin
Lol at 5:17 I thought I had a new fb message.
I wonder if he did that intentionally just to fuck with us, cause that almost seems like something he'd do.
IKR there's something like that in ARTPOP by Lady Gaga, where one of the electronic noises in the song sounds like the bell in my school to change classes. I got really thrown off by that when I first heard it :P
I've listened to this song a good amount of times and had never noticed that sound
Awesome
That ending
No better then this. That's what art is all about. Kind of feel jealous and sad at the same time.
❤️
"Intruder" by Van Halen may explain the intro...
I don't think that those "pitchforks" he talks about here are just average pitchforks. I think he's talking about Pitchfork who had targeted him since First Impressions of Earth.
Guess what? Pitchwork's review of this album too is really bad.
Agree. Pitchfork's biases on him and Strokes really shock me...
pretty annoying how Pitchfork keeps comparing The Strokes to The Voidz even though they're clearly different
Pitchfork's "review" of Jet's album Shine On remains, for me, one of the funniest takes I've ever seen-chiefly because it doesn't take itself seriously. Plus, that album fucking sucks. Sadly, that's the exception to the rule. The other 99 percent of numbered album reviews on that site are just clickbait. And when a site is encouraged to comment upon works of art in ways that will maximize site traffic...there's something wrong with the equation.
Hmm yes, we have bad pitchforks, average pitchforks and good pitchforks
I started the mosh pit in The observatory and the wiltern as this song came up... this song is brutal and menacing... >:) too bad they didnt play it at Beach Goth it would have been painful...
este tema me parte la cabeza!!!
The Voidz regresan en 2023…

intro 😍😍😍
ugayashellmaboi
This album is a mother fucking masterpiece holy fuck
This song is about a guy on the run from the authorities And he got caught, but he''s telling the Detective what he knows and its too much for him, and they have to destroy what is controlling them.
Tomas Contreras I interpreted it like it's about people being slaves to technology
Victory
If whenever I hope I can see this song Live will being in the audience drinking a ipa.
Right now i like this song the best. Some days i'm feeling Where no Eagles Fly a bit more.
Both good but personally I prefer this song more
@Emanuelgamer 1313 dare I care also a good one
For me Johan Von Bronx, Dare I Care and business Dog are the Best!
Fuck, i love this song
Why do I feel like I'm listening to QotSA on and off during this song 😛
Feels like its been so long ago last time i seen u julien we fell off my dinosaur 😂 maybe was i ishtar or inanna? Im just good ole shayna this time around if u wondered where i was i must be stuck in the west in the mountains of course ... Come save me!

I love is my darknes song beauty 🔥
NEW VOIDZ MUSIC NOW!
Lmao i didnt know i wrote this.
.75 speed and a morning roach of the blunt from last night 👌
Strange vibrations but good expérimental rock sound by the way .
el nombre de su proyecto es como el de David Bowie y los Spiders of Mars
best song in tyranny
circa 2010 TL- protect and survive
This álbum is purê experimental
The album definitely has the most spontaneous vibe, but I think it is also well thought out! Just love the whole album so much! 💜🙏
I feel like the lyrics are criticizing a member of The Strokes "the wrong guy in the lineup", "I will try to guitar out", "Hold my ears it's wrong/I can't listen to this too long/Pitchforks*, fires in hand" (*he might have meant being out of tune, like not being able to distiguish when a note is in tune or isn't)
pitchforks is alluding to the media company Pitchfork that is known for targeting Julian throughout his career in their online reviews.
english is not my native language but doesnt it say "I listen, but I but I can't hear what they want to say…"?
I listen, but I - but I can't -- what I want to say…
My ego is out of control, yes I know
The bass in this song sounds like strumming a stretched out, large and stiff rubber band.
