I can't describe how satisfying it was cleaning that bastard anti tangle with an old toothbrush. Thanks for the video.
So excited to find this video! Mine has never been cleaned in ten years! Thick black sludge with a toothbrush stinks. Going to try up to and including removing roller thing.
Thanks for this - was having a nightmare getting the brush off the motor!
No problem 👍
Thanks for posting this video. Been wanting to get the V15’s head apart to clean it for ages
I’m glad you found the video helpful! 😄👍🏽
Ooohh this is a great information and learning video. Love when you do these videos.
4:33 Where the 3 screws go in the the motor to hold the cover in place the small planetaries are housed in behind that motor housing its what you call a fixed rotor motor and the housing spins around it, the planetary system is in the motor shroud. You won't be able to see them unless the motor is taken apart. The brush bar motor is an ordinary digital brushless motor.
Great video, I need to disassemble this dirty bastard and clean it thoroughly.
Now show me how to put it back together
Great tear down mate. I have a whole box of broken ones. The white plastic rings have melted on many. Forget the cogs mate. These are "direct drive" which means no gears. They are multi-pole brushless DC motors which means they are high torque as every magnetic pole is equal to more gears.
That plastic ring melted on mine too... is there a way to replace it without buying the entire motor?
By cogs, you mean a planetary gear system?
Maybe it doesn’t need one, because it’s a brushless stepper motor. Quite torquey on its own.
Yes, but surely with gears the torque would be higher? The brushless motor may be powerful; but it still isn’t powerful enough to work on some carpets
IT is high torque. Look at the windings. It is a stepper motor. Thanks
I would add in the description that you need both phillips and torque bits to get this apart
How did you remove the plastic sleeve we are struggling to remove it. We can't take out the wire.
Nice video as always
Only Dyson direct drive heads have the epicyclic drive but the high torque ones don’t 😁
Dyson made this and said: "Who cares if it gets dirty?" Very infuriating, shouldn't need to do this just to clean the thing.
TOP!!!!
I accidentally washed it with water and some cleaning product it won’t spin anymore is there after watching this video I realised all the electrical components is there any chance it’s fixable after coming into contact with water like I dried drying for a bit but didn’t fix and it does make a little tick vibration sign if life inside still, any help?
Make sure everything is thoroughly dry and make sure the brushbar spins freely, if it still doesn’t spin then sadly it’s beyond repair
Hi Love this video. Is there any suggestion to buy parts? The part that holds the wheels is broken.
Sadly the cleanerheads aren’t really designed to be taken apart hence the torx screws they’re held together with :(
what size screwdriver are you using because none that I have fit!
It’s either a torx t8 or t9 screwdriver
When I turn that round part with the coin, it comes out without the brush...brush seems fixated inside....I have v15 absolute
Use a flat screwdriver to pry out the brushbar from the other end but be careful not to dent the plastic
4:42 how did you remove the plastic sleeve?😅 I’m stuck here
It just pulls off with a bit of force
they're so expensive
