  • Queen Victoria was at the time the longest reigning British monarch when she died, and she would be surpassed by Queen Elizabeth II. Her death inside of Osborne House on the Isle of Wight shocked the whole world, and many members of her royal family had been summoned to her bedroom in a very small part of the huge royal residence. But the Queen would rally a number of times, until she finally slipped away after suffering a number of strokes. However the Queen left a number of specific requests following her death, and the funeral of Victoria and what happened afterwards is nothing short of chaos. As she had reigned for so long, no-one knew how to plan a state funeral or what the protocol was for one, but in secret the Queen had instructed her doctor to ensure that a few select items were placed in the coffin, and some of these would certainly have upset members of the royal family.

I always feel very sad when I think about Victoria. The idea that someone could grieve for the rest of their life is so heartbreaking.

@@apeethaarunagiri2935My grandpa died 12 years before my grandma passed. She never even looked at another man. Not once. "I'm married," she'd say. Didn't matter that he'd gotten a head start on the road to whatever the heck is beyond this life. She was his wife. Simple as that. Made not a bit of difference he'd "gone on ahead of me" she'd say. "I'll get there too, same place. He'll wait."
They were wonderful people. I miss both of them very much. ❤❤
Their names were Pete and Sarah. He left us in 1993, age 63. She, in 2005, age 68.
      Love you Mamaal & Papaal

It sounds to me, she grieved in the same most of the rest of us do. In fact, she even found true love again =)

Casts of hands🤲, dressing gown 🥼wedding 💍 rings, veil, Cape, Tons of jewelry💎, hair, another wedding ring 💍; Was there room for the Queen's 👑 body⁉️. Also, with the Addition ➕ of Mr Brown's hair and his Mother's wedding Ring 💍, I'd say the 2️⃣ loved each other very much.

Not if it doesn't belong to her! Gemstones and jewelry are property of the crown. They are property of the crown and stay with the office meaning they shouldn't be buried with her.
Unless all the rings and necklaces were hers outeight.

That is definitely the heights of true greed! Unfathomable..
I guess she never heard, "you can't take it with you" haha
All you get to take is your soul and the love that's in it. If you're lucky you'll receive an incorruptible body ❤

The very fact that we know what was placed with her should tell you the box was opened and inventoried on at least one occasion. I am guessing anything important would have been recovered. I am curious to know how they knew that it was Browns hair and his mothers ring?

Her Majesty was an incredible monarch. As a person living with chronic depression and anxiety I see that in Queen Victoria. She seemed to have suffered PTSD upon Prince Albert’s death. That lead to her long term depression so much so that she disappeared from her People and her government. This called into question the necessity of a monarchy. I can only imagine the pain she lived with.

6:57 -- Are you saying that he (himself) hid things Victoria GAVE him; or that her doctor hid things (already in JB's possession) that Victoria gave him, when he died? I was a little confused just as to whom you were referring.

She had as much jewelry as could fit on her body. Necklaces layered around her neck, bracelets stacked around her wrists and rings on every fingers and suppose bells on her toes. Here the poor and middle class can't afford essentials or heat in the winter. I bet the BEST of the Royal jewelry collection was buried with her?
Unless, they removed it prior to burial? I truly wonder what was lost?

    I'm curious ab't something.
Much has been made about her hair being cut at death. Can't remember why. Does anyone know how long her hair was at the time of death? Was it shoulder length or down to the middle of her back?
3:50 -- Also who is the young lady here with Victoria?
4 the jewelry lover in me I feel sick 2 my stomach at the thought of ALL that jewelry that was buried with her.
Two questions regarding her momentos: At any point during any of their lifetimes didn't any of the grown children suspect some of the items buried with their mother? I mean they must have suspected something was wrong with all the nicknacks that were missing throughout the house: missing casts, photos, jewelry? Didn't anyone ever do an inventory at the time of her death? Seems strange that NOBODY suspected anything was amiss.
Too bad there's no visual record of just which jewelry items that were buried with QV

    • @CraftyZanTub

Portrait paintings take a long while to create, and the most comfortable facial expression is the neutral expression. No smile would look natural in a portrait painting, unless it was painted from a photo.

If the Jewels were part of the Crown Jewels then the people would not have benefited from them as they would not be put up for sale. Personal gifts of jewellery are a different matter but I still think it was selfish of her to take so much when I think her children and grandchildren may have appreciated a piece.
