This is my favorite new to the MCU character introduced since the Infinity Saga finished.

I think this is one of the most rewatchable MCU movies. It is breathtaking. It's one of my favorite MCU movies and your reactions made me so happy! Wong said that the first time that Shang-Chi used the rings they felt it in Kamar-Taj. Wenwu had been using them for thousands of years, but they never felt it until Shang-Chi used them. I wonder what that means. Is it because Shang-Chi was using them for good, or could he also be a sorcerer? How long have the rings been sending the signal? Did it start when Shang-Chi used them? What is different about him versus his father using them? What did the color change of the rings represent? Did using them trigger something in Shang-Chi? I have so many questions and I can’t wait to see these characters again!

      @homiefromfl 8 місяців тому +4

The only person who was old enough to have felt the Ten Rings being used by Wenwu his first time would've been the Ancient One, but she got got. When the ownership of the rings was changed, it likely caused a ripple throughout the planet/realm, and it was felt by certain people, including those in Kamar-Taj.

I'm really glad you guys liked this one. It's one of my favorites among the post-Endgame films, and the entire MCU overall. Loved the writing, story, plot, acting, and the action. Boyyyyy the action. The choreo was phenomenal. Can't wait to see more of Shang-Chi.

Shang-Chi is top shelf Marvel, right up there with Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok. I hope they are working on a sequal, and soon.

      You have odd taste.
This is middle tier. The first half is fantastic. The last act devolves into a CGI battle.
Top tier would be Infinity War and Winter Soldier.

I really like the fact that Marvel movies can be so different from one another and still fit in this "world / universe". They have everything, action, comedy, drama, and are pretty balanced.
You mentionning Mist of Pandaria made me smile, I loved that expansion (still playing the game, I know...)
Happy new year to both of you.

You know I think the MCU would be in a much better state if they'd done an Iron Man and prioritised a sequel to Shang Chi right away. He should really be right at the centre of the new phase.

    • @Slaskhask

The movies feels a lot more disconnected now than they did in phase 1. It makes me wonder how they are gonna build up to Avengers - Secret wars in 2027. The MCU versions of comic stories like Infinity War are typically much smaller in scope and features a lot fewer characters than their comic book counterparts. They were building up to Kang being the big bad in this phase which never sat right with me but now with Jonathan Majors who played Kang being fired who can say what Disney will do.
In both the 1984 and 2015 Secret wars stories I would argue Dr Doom is both the protagonist and antagonist . However he has yet to even be introduced in the MCU similar to the FF4, X-men, Molecule man and a legion of other characters I very much doubt we will see in the MCU version of Secret Wars. Marvel pulled it off doing their movie version of the Infinity war saga but I gotta say I'm a lot more skeptical about Secret Wars even though it's my all-time favorite crossover story.

I don’t want to spoil anything for Rob and Trin or anyone so I will just say that there are characters that haven’t met yet that will. The MCU’s long term goal needs a lot of preparation. If you thought that Infinity War and End Game had a lot of characters, the upcoming movies have more. Phase four is both phasing out characters and introducing a ton of new ones. Phase five will show more stitching together the seemingly unrelated characters from phase four.

It's interesting that the women training in the post credit have the same look than the black widows... That means after Natasha destroyed the red room,a bunch of them ended here.

One of the best post Thanos cycle MCU films. When Marvel get their house in order after all the random upheaval and mixed response to their releases, I think the sequel to this will be be awesome. Tony Leung does such a good job making an sympathetic villain. Highly recommend going back watching some of his output from years past he is an amazing actor. The modern music choices could have been jarring but it fit pretty well. I love some Anderson Paak and that end credits 10 Rings song went pretty hard.

They actually change the rings for the mcu, because in the comics they were very similar the the infinity stones. For one - each of the ring controlled different aspect and also they were actual finger rings not bracelets.

There are always little things in the MCU that pass right by even the most diehard fans who have read the comics. There are so many iterations of characters and stories that can’t all be told. So the MCU still gives an air of mystery as to what direction they’ll take.. what stories they will draw from or follow. There are givens though that are subtly planted throughout the movies and shows that hint toward the future. Rob and Trin are pretty impressive, first time watching, knowing nothing of Marvel besides what they’ve seen and they find the callbacks sprinkled throughout. The future is going to be great, though it always takes awhile to get there..

I got to see this in theaters too luckily and it was great on the big screen. Some of the visuals were phenomenal, and others not so much. It’s a fun addition to the MCU.
Also Rob, you are correct. Eternal was a British girl group in the 90s and ETERNALS are of the MCU 😂
Good on you because people do forget Eternal as a group.

The thing about MCU after the Infinity saga, they are gathering a crazy amount of characters to build up another explosive saga. They are being ambitious and not a lot of people will be able to follow or enjoy it (just like comic culture but they are bringing it to cinema). So how I treat this new saga is I watch every shows and movies as something new and they dont have to be related to each other (MUCH and/or YET). It's the difficult mind set after experiencing something kind of solid like the Infinity saga, then we have to start from scratch again but with bigger expectation. And I try to avoid that and so far I'm able to do it. I hooe you guys can enjoy the next phase like I have been because I really really like your reactions
note: I cant believe Rob compared Shang Chi to Sonic LMAO

The Marvel Universe is layered in the comics. So that’s what they’re doing with the MCU. It’s just that the comics had years and decades to actually build. So it’s hard for some people to understand why Disney/Marvel are doing the certain things. Doing shows and movies and tying them together makes sense from the view of the how the comics were made. In order to get a better idea of certain characters it was determined that shows would be better than movies so they could cover more stories versus movies where they could only focus on a specific story. This is technically how the comics worked. The main story arc would be focused on in the main comics and then they would have crossovers, team ups , or mini-series,limited series,or special editions. They are trying to capture the same experience with the movies and shows, but some people don’t think some of the stuff is as good as others. They don’t understand that not every story is going to be End Game level. Their trying to expand and explain the universe but not get bogged down and over complicated. After all your supposed to be enjoying the experience and be entertained. Not lost and confused and annoyed that they just want to make money and don’t care about the viewers.
