Will It Run After 50 Years? | Forgotten 1962 American AMC Rambler | Buried & Locked Up | RESTORED

- Опубліковано 10 жов 2021
- Join in with the RESTORED crew as they attempt to revive this 1962 American AMC Rambler 400. After discovering this car amongst many others at the Hutson Farm, the guys get her back to the shop and begin to discover what it's going to take to get this ol' girl on the road again. Finding a highly neglected engine compartment, completely overtaken by rodents, they dig through the debris only to find a highly seized engine. This may be one of the hardest revival videos they've taken part in! Will the guys be able to get this forgotten beauty running again or has she breathed her last breath?

I know the guys from Restored won't see this, but I did vote for the 67 Galaxy for the next restore. I have one that I bought from my Grand Father. He charged me $77.52 because that's what the taxes cost for the next old truck he bought. He told me he'd give me the car, but it wouldn't teach me anything if I got it for free. I drove that 67 Galaxy home on bias ply tires, nearly wrecking it cuz I didn't know that bias ply tires would follow every crack in the road lol. I still have the car today. She's a factory Blue with a White top, Factory Air that somehow still works. 390 with a 4 barrel conversion. I snatched a 4 barrel intake off a school bus ;) Bought a Holley 4 barrel and put a refurb kit in it. I love this old car! She's a cruiser!
Dude, that's also one of the best looking full body Ford's ever made if you ask me... Be so sick done as a pro street form.
You have a great 👍story. And a great 👍👌😀car 🚗 BIG PAPA LOVE 💘❤
Sell 4 t tax money to pass.it.over to your grandkids. I mean 4 t bill of sales.just a.though
So great to see Father and Son working together. Y'all are making memories. God Bless y'all.
Yes indeed, I agree tremendously. Child and parent working together is always a great thing. I'd give anything to get to do something like this with my son.
Getting back to ' 'basics' is what I see the pandemic headed. If not there's gonna be great deal of people in a 'world of trouble'.
Thanks and stay blessed.
My grandmother owned that same model of Rambler back in the 60's. She bought it new. I was a little kid. My father use to say, "here comes Ruth in her Nash-Can".
Look closer ..D..ITSMNOT A
RAMBLER ITS A AMBASADOR BET U WISH YOUR GRAND MOTHER STIL.HAD IT NOW
Tenacity would be the word of the day. Way to go and way to persevere. There's an ever greater lesson here I believe. We need to remember that there are people, much like the old Rambler, that appear to have a chance of ever being RESTORED. But, if we spend some time, work hard with them, give them some firm, but gentle nudging and show them the love of Jesus we will be amazed at what God can do. Thanks so much for your hard work on this one. I had pretty much given up on the old Rambler, but you guys kept on going!! Success!! I sure am glad that there have been people in my life that have never given up on me, no matter how lost and froze up i seemed to be. God Bless! John here; from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.

So true. This like giving someone another chance in life.Thats the reason why i watch these videos.
Persistence pays off. I never thought you would get it running but you just didn’t give up. Best will
It run in a long time!
Once again thanks for your work, l want to share with you that l had a Rambler Javelin model 1974 standar trasmitión 4 speed, a motor 6 cilinder on line, you make me remember great moments in the restoration when l did it, thanks for your atention and share with you my experiencience have a good time,,, your friend Oscar de Pachuca HGo Estados Unidos Mexicanos,,,
My mom had one of those when I was a little kid. Copper orange, vinyl interior. Rubber floors, straight 6 with a manual on the tree.
The sound of that engine firing for the first time is what makes it all worth it. To be honest, I didn’t think this one was gonna get there. Good job fellas!
You guys have a lot of love for old rusted cars. A lot of people would look at that car and say that it was not worth fixing. That engine reminds me of my neice. Stubborn as a mule.
There's no limit to the Wyatt dynamic duo. Unbelievable that car was able to move down the road. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. Excellent work guys, keep em coming. 👏
Very Cool. I run the So Cal Rambler club and have rescued a few cars with seized up engines before, but this is AMAZING to see you revive this old girl! Very Cool.
Let's get a big sound out to our very skilled camera operators! Without you unsung heroes, we wouldn't be getting this great content. Thank you camera operators!!!
2.49 gas…. Where you live at my man we’re about to be neighbors😂.. love the dedication man great job
Bogota, Texas. Republican states generally have better gas prices as less taxes. Would love to move to Texas or Florida. Illinois is terrible with gas hitting $3.80.
Great to see a Rambler getting some love! My dad had one just like this back in the early 1970s, when these little gems were practically give-aways. His was lite Blue.
I wanted a Bud Lite! 😁
You could literally pick these up for pocket change.
Groovy old heap you hauled outta the brush pile. Just where you scored parts for her reclamation is a puzzle, but you got her huffing and even hauling again. You and your Pop have some talent to coaxing this old girl back to life. Great job.
I love that car. The stance, the lines and the overall look. May not be a ‘classic’ beauty but I dig it.
Far out man! ✌
Yeah, especially if you like that boxy square Yogi bear Jellystone park pickanic basket look.
I had a 63 classic, In 1970,,,
Actually got a bit emotional watching this - A powerful message here - never ever ever give up !!!
Awesome to see it running again...I just did this on an old bricklin a few weeks ago... Nothing like taking a stuck engine from years of sitting and hearing it run again... It's a rush!
Hats off guys, can’t believe your amazing level of perseverance & success paying off finally, fantastic job. greetings from Bristol U.K.
My father bought probably three of those ramblers over the years when I was a young boy. He was continually aggravated about never being able to keep them running for any length of time. I learned a little about the car and a lot of french my father spoke.
Best 2 mechanics never arguing always flowing together
Hello.
Hey it's a rambler.
Take off the starter and use a big screwdriver or flatbar pry the flywheel from the starter hole. It will work
Now that was awesome, you took an abandoned varmints den and turned it into useable transportation, and the clutch still works fine, clean it up a little, new fluids, the brakes and git on down the road, great video,Thankyou.
Amazing work, guys. That car was far beyond garbage in most people's assessment, and you proved them wrong. Fun to watch!
My grandmother had a Rambler in the late 60s , it was same color . This bring memories . It was the perfect car for her 👩🏼👵🏻👵🏻 . I want to see the entire car restored .
Who ever gets this ride has a great story and filmed adventure to go a long with it!!! Great job guys
That is a cool little car, I'm glad you spent the time to get it running and show us :)
I heard mine called a lot of things, but "cool" definitely wasn't one of them :D !
That car was built in my hometown. Thanks for bringing her alive again!
Kenosha, WI
Yes Sir, trained professionals at work right here.
that was a lot of work guys i liked it great video love from the philippines cebu city
You guys just blow me away. I have been on the edge of my seat watching that . Fantastic job . Your patience and determination astound me. I love watching you work. Here in the UK we don't see cars and trucks like you have . Well done guys . You are the best !!
Unbelievable, it started.... You delight me with your prowess...
Amazing work guys! I think I would have rebuilt the engine being that far into it. None the less you fellas got her goin. I'm impressed how good it runs. Great video! God bless you guys.
Well thats got to be the best 'will it run' video i've seen yet on UA-cam. Fair play to you guys for keeping on going when it seemed all hope was lost (the minute you opened the bonnet!!). Found you guys through Derek (VGG) and enjoying your content too, keep it coming!
I always wanted to make a Rambler into a "sleeper" rod, but it looks like the varmints got a head start on this one!! Kool beans!
i saw a 64 with a ls dropped in it a few years back was a sharp little car.
watching from nova scotia, Canada you guys know what your doing God bless amen.
I had a '62 Rambler convertible. That 6 cylinder engine runs very well, is the best part of the whole car.
Love watching you guys work on these awesome rides!
Great to see you guys again! I had just discovered turnin a couple of months ago so I wondered what had happened. Love to see your crazy rescues and happy to hear your dads sense of humor again! Wait for it…delay…”well I’m a bit hard to get moving too!” Love the “dad” humor because I’m an old dad too! Good stuff guys! Wish u the best of success with Restored. Great to see Christian on the action too.
I drove one Rambler in Norway TAXSY in the 60tis GOOD TIMES
Wow, what a great video here, this takes me back to 1972,, My Boss at the time collected old Ramblers, he had about 30 of them on his property in Jonesboro Georgia, I would go look at them, he did Not want to sell any of them, Cousin Figel
Just want to say, your content is really great. i love watching the problems you encounter and how you solve them. You and your father make a great team working together.
i know God is watching and guiding your hands on these projects.
God Bless
Love y'alls dedication and determination to get these cars running. Always fun to watch you guys work together and overcome many of the obstacles. Looking forward to the next one!
See if you can start an old Rolls Royce aircraft engine that has been underwater since WWII

Guys I just found your channel, and this specific video brought back a lot of memories for me. In 1990 I was 15 years old, and bought my very first car, a 1961 amc rambler deluxe 4 door. All original, and in pretty bad shape under the hood and the interior, but the body was straight. My dad and I restored the interior as best we could, and tried to find someone who could work on the engine, old flat head 6 cylinder, 195 3.2 I believe it was. Finally found someone who knew how to work on it, but due to the lack of finding parts, couldn’t repair all of it. But we got it running enough for me to drive it to school everyday for a year…it had a hole in the manifold, and it sounded like a herd of tanks coming down the road. I bought it myself for $100, and sold it for $800, just to buy a 1963 Chevy 2 Nova. That was already restored for the most part, and lucked out finding it for only $500 in 1992. Bought it from a guy who had no use for it anymore because he couldn’t drive it. I loved that car, but sadly had to sell it for emergency reasons. I’ve always wanted to find another 63 Chevy 2 nova, if you know of anything anywhere, seriously, please let me know. Love that you guys restore old cars like this together, my dad and I did that before he passed.
Great work guys ☺️💖 I love to see old car's run again!!!!!🥰👌🥳💕
Love your persistence. Great revival!!👍
You guys do amazing things on this channel. Awesome job getting that to run and drive.
When I heard you say "Praise God!" I'm hooked! Blessings to you both!!
Good job guys. I would never have attempted that!
I love watching these two work on cars. I wish everybody would remember that WD-40 is not a lubricant it is a cleaner.
Jim Siler wd-40 is a lubricant I used it many times to free rusted metals.
Man, wd is what ever you want it to be, I use it to marinate my steak's !
I'm really glad you guys went the distance to make that old rambler run. I really enjoyed the video guys and gals.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I’m glued to the screen waiting to see what happens! I’ve able to only watch about 10 minutes at a time, so this is a multi part series! This motor has to work!
Great job! My father could restore anything. And watching you working on that rescued little Rambler on what looks like a super hot day, inhaling that old mouse nest, reminded me of my dad’s determination once he got under the hood. Thanks for a happy memory.
Pensé lo mismo. Tendrían que trabajar con guantes y demás implementos de seguridad. No les vendría mal un curso sobre bacterias, hongos, virus, etc.etc.
Your dad was a wise man hop you took his skills and use them well
I would sell.my car in a heartbeat and drive the ole rambler any day
Its a classic now check out all yhe character and the charm on that rambler
What a shame to let a classic on a field like that to slowly die .hope its not dead yet
Nicely done! And you probably killed all the mosquitoes with all that smoke!
I love that you didn't give up on her, most would. Wonderful video!
A lot of work but you got it running!! Damm good job!
Wow, I truly enjoyed it here in South Africa! Great to hear no swearing and the name of God!
Nice to see an old car back from the dead and drives even if it's only a block AWESOME JOB GUYS !!!
One of my first cars was American Rambler flat head 4
AWESOME VIDEO... Now this is what it's all about :) Nice job guys !!!!
My grand dad was a conservative man. He bought a Modle T, I don't know what year, I'm sure it wasn't new. In 1948 he bought a Plymouth. In 1963 he bought a new International one ton pickup, then in the early 70's he bought an AMC Rebel. That was the last car he ever bought. Thanks for the Memories!!!!
You guys are so lucky to have found one of those and got it running. Great job. I enjoy your videos
I really thought that engine was a gonner. Man oh man. And it even moved on it's own power. Wouldn't that be a perfect candidate for a full resto. It would make a wonderful daily driver!
bravo, you relentlessly brought a dead engine back to life with a sledgehammer, you made its heart start again
Good job fellas. I never woulda guessed that rat's nest would run again!
Awesome video guys! I'm actually surprised it ran as good as it did! Great job getting it going!
In all of my days fooling with cars I 've never seen a rat debris filled engine compartment like your Rambler, what is really awesome is I would imagine that Rambler will be back on the road!! Be safe, God Bless!!!
Holy molly, this ain't no will it run. More like a resurrection from the car graveyard. Ya'll fellers got some sure enough gumption to get her running with what was basically a partial engine rebuild. Nothing but respect for the incredible amount of knowledge, skill, patience and professionalism displayed by two incredible mechanics showing us how it's done. God bless you and yours and we love the content!
I'm blown away I was hoping you guys could get that ol girl up and running I love this kind of content . I was hanging on the edge of my seat and you guys did it. I was so excited when she started to gasp for air then she started Wow Amazing she's a lovely car I can't wait to see her cleaned up I love old cars and trucks I'm a 65 year old grandmother I love your channel so much I will be watching all your videos .I'm so glad I ran across your channel it's what like I really dig it 👍🏾
Another great video, guys! Keep them coming!
Ramblers are a great way to get into the hobby for cheap. I like this particular model, almost a bit of a euro vibe to the styling. The front grille is very cool. The interior is absolutely frightening. I appreciate a video of all the work and details. Very cool! Hope it gets fully gone through and back on the road. I also noticed it appeared to have factory AC, which is amazing.
Agree with you about the styling. It reminds me of the styling that Volvo once had.
Wow. You all are crazy! What fun to see what you can do. Love it 😍
Well guys , that was not only outstanding , but that was above and beyond . Not only the MAJOR detailing under the hood , but the extreme mini rebuild got ‘er done ! Well if that doesn’t prove that the early AMC or predecessor to the in line six cylinders that made a name for American motors , then nothing would . You guys rock ! You got your faith and the good lord delivered . We appreciate your hard work . Thanks and we know you’ll always have your faith as your heart and will is always in the right place . That’s why you’ll always prevail . 👍 well , time to head on over to sister christian’s channel . See you over there !
Backyard popup shade mechanics and very determined, I've enjoyed the video as usual. Can't wait for the next one.
Great vid guys and a great achievement well done ,keep em coming .
Our friend, even after so long stopped, just with some maintenance he came back to life, very good video
This is some high quality entertainment boys! Thanks so much for the video.
Hello from the Czech Republic. I always thoroughly enjoy these long produced videos. Absolutely well done on getting this one running, I didn't think you'd do it, not this time.
That was amazing guys. What looked easy was a lot of time and effort. I thought it would have a flathead in it. I enjoy the heck out of your videos. Keep em coming. Not far from me in an area of Mesa Az where I grew up there is one of those exact same Ramblers but it's a two door. I've been trying to get it off them but no one ever answers the door or responds to notes I leave or letters I send. It's in a carport on flats. The good part is it's 100% certain it won't be locked up. Thanks.
WOW!!!!! You guys should be proud. From what you started with to a running engine. AMAZING!!!! Great Job Guys!!!!!
I definitely had my doubts, but, by golly you got that baby to run! Awesome!!!
The best hour and sixteen minutes I’ve spent in a while. Fantastic work!! It was so satisfying seeing that thing start up👍🏽
I'm 68 and put many hours in on old vehicles way back in the 60s-70s. Great hobby!
The filming and audio quality of this show is on par with any professional cable TV car show. Great job!
That was AWESOME‼️‼️ now we're talking guys I love this content I just found this channel on a humble and I'm stoked 👌🏽
Loved every minute of this video. Good to see an old forgotten Rambler get a second chance.
Great video. One of the more hopeless ones I’ve seen. Just shows what hard work and determination will do. God bless
I applaud to your persistence. This was the toughest instance I can imagine. Engine was stuck dead. If someone in this case applies excessive force it would crack mechanism or wear off tools. But you did not lose patience and won. Your mentality is 100 % American! 👍🏻 May God attend you!
You did a first job man, well done 👍👍👍😛😛😛🙏
Jakarta ,- Indonesia still watching..really great man...Frank 73+ my age
Very nice. It was a lot of work, but worth it to see the old rambler heading down the road.
I like watching these guys patiently fixing rusty old vehicles, and it's amazing it's only 25 000 miles on the clock
That's awesome that old AMC is back going after sitting in that field for God only knows how long. Great save getting that old Iron back on the road
Love the content...love pulling old cars and engines apart♥️watching from queensland Australia....love the channel
Talk about determination!👍👍👍
Definitely one of the best quality video making car shows out their , kudos to the gang .
just found you guys (and subscribed) after seeing your live vid with VGG! It's filmed like a movie...love the cinematography! Get ready for 250K subscribers, it's coming!
Whoa, crazy... Today I just pulled my 1963 Amercian out of a 13 year outstide storage slumber. A new battery and some fresh fossils and bam she idled and purred like a kitten. I got a CJ5 and cash in exchange and she pretty much looked like yours just slightly better, same color.
Great, great job. Talk about tenacity. You guys get my vote. Best wishes from the San Francisco Bay Area.
Great job...That was alot of hard work for the little victories. Enjoyed it!
Hi Folks,
wow! That was really a chore.
Great to see it run but even more, I love the Father & Son collaboration. I never had that luxury.
I junked that car (well one just like it) 45 years ago and here you are putting it "Back On the Road" again.
But hey, what did you do to my buddy Fred the mouse and his home!?!?!? ;-)
Be thankful you guys have that bond and fun together.
I've like and subbed and I'll be watching from now on.
cheers
Boots Langley
La Mesa, ca
Man you guys were determined on this one! Cant believe you never changed that oil filter though!!
Lol
I think I can talk for everyone when I say how impressed I was all the effort you put into getting that rambler to turn over. and you even got it running. hats off to you guys for accomplishing that!
I’ve just watched these three videos, and am just so blown away and how well the truck came up after all of you hard work. Congratulations on a great outcome. Greetings from Sanctuary Point, New South Wales, Australia.
