I just bought a 97 k2500 Light Duty 2wd for $800. 167000 miles, no rust\Florida truck, interior probably 8.5 out of 10 and exterior probably 8.5 out of 10. Just normal dings or wear but no dents. Everything works and it drives perfect and shifts. The only thing Is the water pump has a leak. I bought it with the intentions of selling it for a profit ,but I found myself in love with this truck. I was offered $2500 , but found myself not wanting to let her go. So I kept her and now plan on doing some mild upgrades. Something about driving this simple and comfortable truck. Anyways let me stop blabbering.

I have an 89 model with TBI and the EGR is on the back of the throttle body, but it’s not connected to the manifold so luckily don’t have to mess with that. But there is a bracket coming off the power steering pump that goes to the manifold... I may have to cut a little, but I’ll be at it soon

Man I think you just helped me with my whole ordeal, how to hold rust in the one of my manifolds and so I went ahead and bought headers to replace them. Went to a shop first though and they said it was going to be about $500 in 3 days before I got it back, I don't know if that's standard pricing or what but that's a little out of my budget lol

Was a new "original" y pipe? If so, was the "bubble" on the end of the headers a problem? I've seen some with flat ends and some with the "bubble" end. Also, did you have any trouble with spark plug clearance?

That bracket is to pull the motor out of the truck

Where did you get the radiator hose cuz mine goes over the top of the fan shroud and id rather run it around the alternator
That's the stock rad hose for a vortec 5.7

Were you able to get the drivers side on without taking the power steering pump bracket loose next to the engine ? T just got a pair of shorties and directions say to take the power steering pump loose and or cut the bracket ..Mine is a 96 ..idk if that makes a difference..
Yes that bracket is a extra brace that some do cut ... its fine with or without the bracket... just a lil more work if ya want to keep it factory and not cut it
What gasket did you use to bolt the headers to the stock cat if you ended up keeping the stock cat
he didnt keep the cats.
I'm getting ready to build my 94 Silverado. It's a short bed 2 wheel drive. Have you tried any long tube headers from Amazon?
Have not tried any longtubes yet but if the price is right and its just a build to enjoy then sounds good to me ...thanks for the reply 👍

Not tuned... runs drives fine ...sorry for no new uploads have done alot more to truck...between work and everything ...will have new vids soon thanks for checking out channel

How you do the passenger side
Have you had any problems after installing these? after i installed them in my 97 tahoe its been having trouble starting been stuttering and been stalling alot

It's a crap game being able to get out there and work on our vehicles here, I'm in the Pacific Northwest, been a lot of rain and flooding lately, wishing I had a garage where I live, would make things a whole lot easier. On the video, the part where you used the Sawzaw,what is the name of the hose going to the exhaust manifold? I just installed shorty headers on my rig, and now unsure what to do with said hose...

Yes you do. But it doesn't effect performance
I'm shocked those manifold bolts came off so easy. Did you have to use a torch or any heat?
No heat just got lucky but in texas things don't rust near as easily.... liquid wrench helps 😆

I found a ratchet just like that its all rusty been soaking in some lube hoping i could save it just because i thought it was cool

Got a 96 1500 5.7 350 changed the headers but the egr valve is not blocked off and the hose that connected to the headers isn’t there anymore can this cause random misfires and make the engine have a semi rough idle
Definitely need to block off where the egr was ...that can make it run bad
Do you plug the air tube ?
Yes is you get a block of kit should come with plug and block off plate
WASSUP did you finish the passenger side thats where you gonna have issues

Have they started warping?
No warp that I have noticed driven truck hour day for last 3 months and no leaks not bad for the cost... just make sure chek them maybe after week or so of driving to see if need tighten a lil
Spark plug passenger rear?
I put the plugs in befor headers kinda tight but take time and worked out fine.... just in order to change plugs will be reverse process
Did you notice any gains from putting the headers on
Also do you know the part number on those if you click the link it says page not found i have a 98 want the same headers but can only find 88 95 sbc headers budget ones atleast not sure if they will bolt up to vortec heads

Did the flanges bolt right up?
On this truck yes but had to make it work old exhaust not perfect alignment. Thankyou for checking out my channel

Holding up good no problems at all ... normal turning colors from heat but no leeks

@@kenman903 thank you very much. I just put headers on my 1997 chevy K1500 5.7 L and had to cut the EGR tube off the exhaust manifold. and was wondering what i was going to do about this.
@@kenman903 I was concidering just replumbing the tube another way since i have many new ports to connect it to
will these fit my 98 w a 5.7 says they only good for 88 to 97 why not 98 its exactly the same thing and i plan to delete egr anyway
Yes these headers will work any 88-98 only difference is egr delete will need to be done on the later 96-98....

What happen EGR tube pipe
Its removed and a egr delete plate and plug goes in to block it all off pipe is removed
Hey guys, do any of you reading this know what causes the "tik tik tik tik" sound that is heard in between the engine and the trans? My montecarlo has a 350 and does that sound too and want to get rid of it, hope any of you can help me
Maybe flexplate is cracked ...exhaust leek several different things to look into but im sure ya get it fixed good luck thanks for checking out the channel

you should have put the long tub headers on the are a 100% better
Long tubes require bending to get the driver side.1st plug to get it past the motor mount and it requires more bending on the passenger side
Why take the egr line and pump out?
