As someone mentioned in the comments before, the current max you can get is 84.17 ly. The only way to get more jump range is to have one module (FSD or Sensors) with a very lucky draw on the old engineers. Another thing. You can use a bigger fuel tank as long as you only fill just enough to make the next jump and still have extra space just in case you find an unscoopable star in your way. They only jump distance that matters is the max distance. Flying on fumes all the way, baby! :D
You should mention that this range can be achieved only with a legacy lightweight sensor god-roll, which cannot be obtained anymore. 84.17LY is the best one can get with current engineering. I have an 11.58T sensor, which yields a theoretical maximum of 84.36LY (337.44LY supercharged). I've never actually bothered to get it to go the full distance. Maybe I should spin her up...
I just wanted to say the same. And nobody else noticed this nuance. And MINI also forgot to say it. With the current engineering method one can't reach more than 80% weight loss. Go on Jon beat the record, but tell this little trick.
If he's setting the distance record, he would be completely out of fuel after the first jump. Yes, the tank holds 8T, but the first record was set by draining the tank of as much fuel as possible, to make the ship as light as possible, to increase the range to maximum.
Impressive and fun video. But the best thing about having a ship that cannot jump that far? A large fuel tank that doesn't drain immediately and forces you to plan your route via scoopable stars...
