Demonstration of my new Rubi Speed 92 score and snap tile cutter, it will cut tiles up to 36" and is very capable cutter at a very affordable price for this size of cutter. In this video I demonstrate how I cut small slivers of tile with very little effort. Professional quality tools will perform much better and move the job along, the ability to cut long tiles by just scoring and snapping will save a lot of time and effort. You want to try a sigma tile cutter...best cutter on the planet by far!! Never liked the rubis the bars flex when clamping hard porcelain a fatal flaw if you ask me

Yep, you can see typical Rubi bad design at 2:40 those two thin pipes bends slightly when scoring also that base is kinda thin metal too. Kinda weird that Sal who only does tiling bought so bad tile cutter. I have Montolit masterpiuma for big tiles and only use my Rubi for really small tiles like 4 by 4.

Quick question I have that same tile cutter for the 24 in, tiling is not my trade but I enjoy doing tile jobs around the house, how do I keep from cracking the corners when using this manual tile cutter. What's the trick you make it look so easy.

I have found some tile cuts like butter and others never cut straight and break near the farthest end... ruining the tile pieces... even with a new cutting wheel.

Una cortadora muy subestimada, probablemente de las mas versatiles, capaces y asequibles de rubi, estoy encantado con ella, no me gustan las cortadoras monorail, aqui se ve mejor la linea de corte

Great demonstration, Sal! Could you advice on choosing the right scoring wheel size for cutting ceramic tiles (up to 12"x12")? I've been using the one for porcelain tiles and it is getting tired :) Thank you!

I assume the same technique works for lateral cross-cuts on these big tiles too? (To shorten the 36" down to 24 for example.) I'm about to start a project with 36" tiles so very timely finding this - thanks.

I have the speed 72 (might actually be 62). It's kind of a hit or miss. I've worked with some porcelain tile that feels "softer" and the Rubi cuts it like butter. And I've worked with some porcelain tile that feels "hard" and it just splinters off and cracks when I try to use the Rubi. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

+William Bradford I also have a new Rubi Speed 62 that I bought in May and right out of the box ran into the same issue you had with two different types of porcelain tile cracking and my cuts are straying off the score line in a curve despite using perfect scoring and snapping methods. The default wheel Rubi ships with the Speed 62, which I think is only 6 mm I think is better suited to ceramic tiles. I called Rubi at their Miami regional office directly and talked to a tech support guy who told me with porcelain tile sometimes it's hit or miss with softer or harder tile materials and it's a matter of changing the right cutting wheel because it depends on the shape of the bezel that's on the Wheel. He sent me back into Floor and Decor store where they have a $47 Rubi kit of five cutting wheel sizes that you can buy. He said to try the 10 mm cutting wheel. I tried that cutting wheel in the kit and got better results but if your tile is textured in anyway you're not going to get a clean cut. The score and snap method really works on a flat smooth tile not a textured tile, you will get mixed results. Also, don't ever score multiple times, that leads to crooked cuts, make sure you always score once only, then snap. I helped a friend do his kitchen back splash last week with 24 x 5 faux stacked stone texture and we had to use the wet saw, that tile will never score and snap.

hello Sal, what cutter do you recommand for cutting 120x20cm scottish oak plank tiles from Emil ceramica ? I was told that porcelaine could not be cut with that kind of roller cutter and that only diamond discs on angle grinder could be used.

I cut porcelain tile every day with a snap cutter, but there are some tiles that are impossible to score and snap but most that I have personally installed can be cut with a snap cutter. It is impossible for me to know every specific tile and whether it can be cut or not with a certain tool.

Sal I'm surprised you don't use sigma ! , in UK rubies is vertually never used anymore because of there substandard engineering quality in comparison to raimondi sigma

+Mookey The Pimp Thompson The Ruby TX range. Rubi are the best, although some swear by Sigma. However, Rubi do have budget cutters to cater for the DIY market.

So very Sorry!!! In my opinion Sigma win every day of the week .If your a professional tile cutter , there is only one tile cutter ..."Sigma" . Sorry Rubi fans, even the TX doesn't compete. If you don't go with Sigma, every day of the week try the Montolit Evo 3 93cm its so much better than Rubi. Please feel to disagree or compare cutters? , but really if your a professional tile cutter it can only be Sigma. Monotolit Evo3 my second cutter has better cutting & better technology than Rubi TX. Rubi have lived of there reputation for far to long other Manufacturers are spending the money & investing better technology in there cutters.

@@nicholaslister7331 ...i used to have a rubi,(some bastard stole my car,it was in the boot),, i loved it for its easy carrying and light weight, i have a sigma, (for the last 12 years,) cuts up to 600mm, and im thinking of changing, i agree, sigma is top of the shops, im getting on in my old age (lol), and was thinking of getting a rubi, my only gripe about the sigma is that its a heavy cutter. cheers for the info on the monotolit evo
