You are an actual lifesaver man, it worked quickly and perfectly, unlike the other methods I had no luck with. thank you! i can finally skyrim again! (worked for downgrading to version 1.5.97 as of 3/19/24)
If you're having issues with the steam console not downloading the files you can use steam cmd (you have to log into it with your username/pass) it's a little bit of a longer process, though. Once the files are done downloading it'll tell you where the files are located and you simply copy paste them in order into your skyrim se folder. I looked all over the place and nobody was having this issue as far as I could tell so I figured I'd mention it.
I have never wanted to shake someones hand more so in my life than you my good sir. Thank you for this video! Just followed this step by step and it worked flawlessly.
@@circuitscore I really do appreciate this tutorial. I've been playing Skyrim using my favorite collection from before the update since Friday, it's worked fantastically. Even posted your video in the comment section of the collection for anyone looking for a way to downgrade their Skyrim to be able to play the collection again.
Nice!!! Thank you for soooo useful video, on nexus only old downgrade patcher. You can also add that you need to wait for the files to download, they don't download as fast as in your video)
Game doesn't even open now lol Edit: Sometimes steam will say the download is finished when it's not quite finished. Def give it a couple minutes even after is says "download complete"
That is good to know. Yeah I sped through the download part so people weren't sitting there waiting though the video to keep it to the point but it can take awhile which I think is some people mistake. Did you get it downgraded?
I was having the same issue. Turns out each "depot" gives its own "download completed" message, so you have to wait for all three messages to appear. I got it to work too, thank you for leaving this comment!
16/10/24 Thankyou. Your tutorial saved my game. I have some disability from a brain injury. I have difficulty understanding things sometimes. But I was able to follow your video. And it worked for me. I am so grateful. Thankyou so much

Thank you so much, I never liked the loot change and other changes that Anniv. Edition made and I'm starting to get that Skyrim itch for my millionth playthrough lol. You're the best!
I am very grateful for your amazing guide, it is a life saver, also seeing you active still on this video trying to help new people 7 months later is extremely honorable and kind, thank you so much and please have a wonderful day
Thank you! Worked hard on this guide to make sure it was short but to the point. Yeah I try to respond to every single comment on my channel. It can be extremely tedious but the reward of helping people is 100% worth it. You have a great day as well!
Was just about to finalize my Load Order when somehow after a crash my DLC.esm files vanished causing all of my mods to lose masters meaning I had to validate my game files......Unfortunately that meant my game was forcefully updated breaking all my hard work... I tried to use me .EXE backup but the game would no longer launch......I was at a loss....So glad this tutorial exists!!!! Also A suggestion for anyone in the future once you have a clean downgraded install CLEAN all of your DLC and CC content (use CC content picker to turn it into a separate file) then Create a Copy of all of your Skyrim files on another drive so you never have to do this again (just drag and drop the copy)
Glad it worked! I know how you feel. I have messed up plenty of Mod loads in my day where Ive had to start from scratch. Not a great feeling! I should have mentioned the CC Content Picker in this video. If I ever do an update to this video I will add that detail. Also good idea creating a backup copy of the Skyrim files to another location. I do the same thing now just in case.
@@circuitscore make sure the copy you create is after you've cleaned it so that you never have to clean those files ever again. Also it wouldn't hurt to pre-install Skyrim script extender and the latest e&b binaries into that copy so that you have a game ready for modding cleaned and preset up off the bat every time you start over
No problem! As far as I know the latest version for the original version of skyrim is 1.9.32.0.8 which is fairly compatibility. However there is some talk that 1.9.32.0 is slightly more stable.
I did everything step by step and now I find myself at minute 4:58 where you start the game and access the game... in my case the game doesn't even start, it closes automatically without even reaching the menu to start my game, any solution please? ☹
and nothing gave me problems in the process, only at the moment of starting... the installation was correct and the file replacement was also correct 😢
Try to redownload the depot files. Make sure they all fully download. I didnt show this in the video but the depot files can take awhile to download depending on your internet speed.
Sounds like an issue with Steams servers if you request the same download command twice. I would give it another go and see if it will let you download the file. If that doesn't work might trying using a VPN to download it.
Help, I keep getting an error when I run MO2 that says "A mod named overwrite was detected, disabled, and moved to the top priority on the mod list. You may want to rename this mod and re-enable it." However whenever I change the name I cant acces the actual overwrite folder. It says it cant find the overwrite file. What could this mean.
I'm trying to reinstall Skyrim SE 1.5.97. Everything says its Special Edition, except in the .exe description, where it says its v1.6. Now, when I open the game and try to 'upgrade' the files to the proper AE, Steam is trying to make me repurchase the game instead of doing the upgrade. So, once again, I'm stuck.
I followed everything you said but my game crashes at launch now :/ I have the Skyrim Special Edition Version and wanted to download the 1.5.97 version. Do I have to first update it to the Anniversary Edition before downgrading it ?
You don't need to buy the Anniversary Edition however I would update to 1.6.1170 first and then downgrade using my steps. Also keep in mind one of those depot files takes a while to download. Make sure you have download confirmations for all depot commands in the console before replacing files.
I was trying to do this since morning and couldn't figure out what the problem was...So I figured out what the issue was. When I was copying the contents for the older version, I just did so right away. While watching your video again I noticed he had 3 downloads... I was like wait a minute. I was doing other things and then saw I too had 3 separate downloads. And the file size for the initial ones was always 3bg and the actual full was of course 14gb! My dumb ass was not sure I had to wait till all 3 were done because in the folders all 3 were shown. Sigh. Oh well one problem solved! Thanks for your help! Now onwards to get back to my 1350 plugins and create more problems!!! AR
Don't worry you are not the first person that has mentioned that in the comments. For the sake of keeping the video short I cut out the game downloading and should have made it more clear to wait for the depot command confirming all files have downloaded. I am going to try and edit the video to add some text for new viewers.
@@circuitscore No thank you for making this video. I was just watching the video and noticed there were 3 downloads and I was like hang on. Appreciate your help! I am busy modding my game and adding new ones and getting rid of things I dont need. The usual Skyrim modding experience hahaha.
Hello, question from an totally modding-noob. I did all the steps in the Video an have the game now on 1.6.640 and i want to mod the game. But for that i need the SKSE and from the side i have from a modding tutor-video the version is 1.5.97. So will i get any problems with the modding or is it ok that i have the 1.6.640?
i redownloded the all file and paste as in the video v1.6.640 is not workig after coppied and my saves also gone form v 1.6.1170 not showing load game too i amgetting crash again after new game
Are there any other methods aside from using the steam depot console? I have let it sit over 5 hours yesterday with no progress. I have pretty bad/slow internet all things considered, so I highly prefer a progress bar or anything that tells me where it is at or if the download has failed. Thanks! ^^
Hey there. Unfortunately if you are on the latest version 1.6.1170 the only method I know of is to use the depot downgrade. It will take awhile because its essentially re downloading the entire game. If you are on version 1.6.1130 there are downgrade patchers available on Nexus that modify the files in order to downgrade. I believe this method requires less internet however I have not tried it myself so not 100% confirmed. Unfortunately with steam updating automatically on launch most people are on 1.6.1170. www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57618?tab=description
Dude you're the greatest! You saved my skyrim for me thanks so much! As of 9/7/2024 this works. Zero issues, took a minute for the old versions to download into the console commands but other than that no issues, thanks again my guy!
help, when I add these files, I have to click "check file integrity", but when I do, I go back to the original version. What could be the reason for this?
Don't launch through Steam. Launch from the Skyrim exe. Also make sure to block updates changing that Steam files to read only as shown at the end of the video.
I HAVE A QUESTION so now that there are 3 Creation Club mods I want to play I need the newer game files how do I download the depots for the new game files without canceling out what I just did having reverted to 1.6.640
Some creation club mods may require 1.6.1170. You might have to update, download the creations you want, then downgrade to 1.6.640, then use the Backported Extened ESL Support mod to make sure they work. Additionally you could use a mod like Anniversary Edition Content Picker to sort them in your mod manager and decide what you want to load into the game.
So I didn't want to waste peoples time in the video and cut out how long it took to download the game but make sure you get a confirmation that all depot files have completed downloading. This process is essentially just redownloading the entire game. If all files are not present it will crash. I just downgraded myself to 1.5.97 about a week ago so it should still work.
I didn't show it in my video but the depot files take a little while to download. Make sure the download finishes before replacing the files. Additionally if you are already using mods make sure you are using the correct version of SKSE64.
@@circuitscore In my case I do not have mods installed and I waited for the download on the Steam console to complete with the three folders and I got a black screen when I started the game and it suddenly closed
hey so im trying to install some mods on MO2 (eg. Cutting Room Floor and Alternate Start), but i can't install them because they are missing the Fishing CC master. and when i go into the CC section in the main menu i can't access it while downgraded to 1.5.97. so when i try to launch the game with CRF and AS the game CTDs. i really want to use these mods but cant because i dont have the fishing master. please help
Did you download the anniversary edition content files prior to downgrading? I used this mod the anniversary edition content picker in order to install that content to mod manager as well as consolidate it. www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/58890
i did a downgrade to 1.5.97 and now my mod organizer isnt working with skse. it keeps saying i need the 1.6.1170 version but all my mods require older versions? is there anything i can do to get this fixed, could i use the 1.6.1170 skse version with the 1.5.97?
Should we back up our depots on a flash drive for future use in case we suddenly get a new PC or something like that just to be safe? So it can make it easier so we won't have to download it all the time? Or not recommended? Also good idea to turn automatic updates to "Only Update This Game when I Launch it" It SHOULD keep the game from FORCING Skyrim SE to AE. Hope this helps. Something I learned from another video when Fallout 4 pulled this BS. Mods got broken too. :(
Its not a bad idea to backup those depot files just in case there is ever a day that Steam does not allow us to access the old files. You could also backup the game directory files itself after you downgrade. Good idea though! Might as well do both change the appmanifest files to read only and also "Only Update This Game when I Launch it"
Hi there. Glad it worked. Also I did an extensive search and found additional instructions to download the language pack. I added it to the description and will add it here as well. I have not tried this method yet so would be worth backing up your skyrim installation. Additional Instructions: If you are looking to change the default game language, and you have not modified your 'Skyrim_Default.ini' file, it is as simple as right-clicking the Skyrim game in your Steam games list, selecting 'Properties…', and changing the 'Language' dropdown in the 'General' tab to the language of your choice. This will automatically download the language pack and .ini file which instructs the game to use it, and you are done. NOTE: 'appmanifest_489830.acf' file must not be set to read-only (which is typically done during a "downgrade" process as well as shown in this video). You will have to first unlock this file before selecting a language. You will want to re-lock it by setting it to read-only again after download. This process will not perform a full verification of file integrity (so it will not break the downgraded Skyrim install), it will simply download the language pack and .ini file.
May I ask something? When downgrading to 1.5.97 it says the download failed. I tried everything. Even the Downgrader from Nexus says it failed. Can someone help me?
The download depot can be squirrely sometimes. Make sure you have more than enough space on you computer. Like 3 times as much as the game size. It will fail if steam doesnt think it has enough space.
Hey there. I have updated the description to help people find the download links for the SKSE versions. See below: *Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) Archive Downloads* skse.silverlock.org/download/archive/ For Skyrim version 1.5.97: Download "skse64_2_00_20.7z" Hope this helps.
i do the downgrade, it is on the version i want it but when i start it there is only the menu and a black screen behind, no skyrim art it usually has and when i press new game is just closes the game completely
I didn't show it in the video to keep things short, but one of those Depot commands takes a while to download. Make sure all files are completely downloaded before copying them over as we are just replacing the files with an older version of the game. Also make sure your SKSE is for the version you downgraded to.
Can anybody see the error in the latest mod update.. 1.6.1170 is lower than 1.6.640.. as upgrades rise incrementally x.x.117x is not as incrementally high as x.x.640X. When the increment of .9xxx is 11 they should be saying that the update is 1.7.170 then you will not be confused as to which one IS the latest update... I need to see my therapist now.
Does anyone have a solution to my problem? Whenever I try to launch the game I keep getting the message “The procedure entry point Steaminternal_Createnterface could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Steam\steamapps\common Skyrim Special Edition\SkyrimSE.exe.” Thanks
Can anybody help? After manually coping the files to the 1.6.1130 version and using the best of both worlds patch, my game would crash right after the Bethesda title appears, which apparently means I'm missing masters, but vortex doesn't tell me there's a problem and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I have not personally tried this method however it sounds like the game is looking for ESM files that are not present. Try using the Anniversary Edition Content Picker as well as Backported Extended ESL Support. The Anniversary Content Picker will allow you to consolidate the added files from the Anniversary edition and you can decide if you want them turned on or off.
successfully changed it to version 1.6.640, but now none of the skse loaders are compatible with it, so i can't even start the game, let alone mods, because it says i need to update to the correct skse. what am i doing wrong?? i'm trying to make it version 1.5.97 now because at least there's an skse loader for that version. i probably sound very silly rn im not very tech savvy lol, i've just been trying to get my skyrim to start for several days now.
So i just fresh installed and I'm not sure what I'm looking at with these anniversary files. Says I have to purchase them, can't just download them as you did. Doesn't seem right.
Hmmm that is strange. So I know that it wont let you download the depot files unless you own Skyrim. This is for the special edition and I dont believe it matters if you have anniversary addons purchased or not.
love the video. But i have a problem for every time i start "new game" it just crashes on me. I haven't put any mods on it or anything (I am also downgrading from 1.6.1170) if there is something i can do to fix this please give me some ideas thank you
You could try to rebuild the game from scratch into a new folder instead of replacing all of the files. Also I didn't show it in the video to keep things to the point but the download can take awhile to complete as its just redownloading the entire game. Make sure all depot files finish downloading before replacing the files.
Do you only have to start the game until the menu or actually start a new save game before starting the changing process? Kind of a hassle to go through the intro but will do if needed of course
Its recommended to start a new save but it will probably work with an existing one as well. You could also use a mod like Alternate Start to skip the beginning.
Try to give it another go. Or you could try to add all of the files to a new location instead of replacing them. That would essentially just rebuild the game from scratch and ensure that it downgrades.
@circuitscore Thanks bro, your vid worked. When i restart my pc and did it again. It worked, thanks for the Reply and ur vid is really helpful. Really appreciate it ✨

What happens if I have my game in Spanish does it always work? Or do I have to get the files in Spanish and if so can you upload them please? for the 1.6.1130 version
I have added language download instructions to the description. @@circuitscoreok because im tryna play constellations when I use the last ear it’s says im too dad upgraded I need a older one. Now I switched to 1.5.97 and now it’s saying my version is outdated
Hey, can someone explain me why do I have to downgrade ? It's been a long since I last played skyrim and I don't get why I should downgrade my game ? Isn't been like 7 month since the new updates ?
There is still a lot of compatibility with 1.6.1170 however if you want the absolute most compatibility Id recommend 1.6.640 or 1.5.97. 1.5.97 is the most compatible with mods on Nexus however 1.6.640 is a close second and also is natively compatible with Anniversary content. All depends on what your needs are and if a mod author is still working on updates for newer versions of the game.
@@circuitscore Hi! so it turns out I just downloaded the files wrong lol. after actually following the video, It workss. Thank you sm for this tut!! ^^
Holy moly. Hours easily get away from me when I am working on Skyrim and I have spent too many over the years trying to fix what Bethesda breaks. Thank you for the guide! Bethesda has had such a steep fall from grace since they released my favorite game 13 years ago...
Make sure the depot files completely downloads and confirms in the Steam console. I skipped past the entire download to keep the video short and to the point. If I were you I would try the process over again and seeing if you can get it to work.
eng: It worked successfully, but I have a question: how can I set the other language for example Polish in the game? Because the default is English? PL: Udało się pomyślnie lecz mam takie pytanie: w jaki sposób mogę ustawić język polski w grze? Gdyż domyślnie jest angielski ?
You will have to find the Polish depot files. I am having hard time finding the command however if you can find the Polish depot command its as simple as downloading the files and replacing them in the root directory of Skyrim. Let me search around and see what I can find.
You can decided which version you want to run. The two most popular versions are 1.6.640 (works natively with legendary content) works with most 3rd party mods. The other version is 1.5.97 which is pre legendary edition that works with almost all mods but you will have to run best of both worlds and ESL backport support to get anniversary content to work.
I found those commands from searching Nexus and doing my own testing. You could update to 1.6.1170. Download the needed CC content and then downgrade back down to 1.6.640. This is the last version that works with Anniversary content.
Its redownloading the entire game. It might take awhile for them all to complete. I edited this part out of the video so you wouldnt have to wait for me to download it.
@circuitscore Thanks for the info, but I still haven't completed the 489831 file yet. I don’t know why it’s like that-it’s only 3GB, but it still hasn’t finished downloading. On the other hand, the 489832 file completed successfully and even had a notification. Should I try re-downloading 489831 again? This has been taking the whole day, and it’s still not done. I don’t know why.
I would try to run the command again. Not sure why its stuck that is very strange. I actually just downgraded last week to test a modpack and it was successful. It should still work.
I prefer 1.6.640 since all of the mods I use are compatible and also since it works natively with Anniversary content. However there is still an argument for 1.5.97 since it has slightly better compatibility However there are very very few mods that don't work with 1.6.640.
Hello, I copied everything the way it was in the video but somehow it didn't work for me. Am I to blame now or is it no longer possible? ( i tried to downgrade it to 1.6.640)
Glad you got it working! The biggest mistake I saw people make was not waiting long enough for all of the depot files to download as it essentially downloading an older version and replacing the files. I cut down my video to keep things short and to the point.
I can't even begin to express how helpful this guide is. I was almost at the point of pulling hairs out when my game updated and broke everything. (I haven't played Skyrim in ages) So, being able to roll back versions is a literal game-changer, and for this, you have my gratitude.
It should be nearly the same. I does take a little while for the file to fully download. I didnt show this in my video to keep it short and to the point. Did all the files confirm they completed downloading when you tried it?
Ok dumb quest, but i don't think 1.6.1130+ will work for 1.5.97 will it? Arthmoor hide all of the previous USSEP patch files. I have 403 mods not all have updated so why im still on that. Game runs fine but i know you can play for hours, then bam just crashes. So im just curious here. Your method does work tho done it for fallout aswell.
Nevermind, yours is a kink from where Nexus stores them. It says 266-4-25b, the newest one he's got is 266-3-1-17 so on. So it is the right one, my bad.
No worries! Yeah luckily for us Nexus archives all links to old versions of mods even if mod authors try to hide old versions. The link in the description is a direct link for the USSEP for each version. Happy modding!
Hmmmmm I'm not exactly sure what happened. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is the depot downloads can take awhile to complete. Make sure all files downloaded before replacing the files.
Did all of the depot files completely download? Some of them can take awhile. I did not show this in the video for the sake of keeping it short and to the point.
It wont matter unless you want to download additional creations. However with Nexus mods you will be able to find all of those creation and more so I don't think it will hinder your experience.
You are an actual lifesaver man, it worked quickly and perfectly, unlike the other methods I had no luck with.

Also it wouldn't hurt to pre-install Skyrim script extender and the latest e&b binaries into that copy so that you have a game ready for modding cleaned and preset up off the bat every time you start over
Thanks for the walk through. I just need to figure out how to do it for original release skyrim now as I never used skyrim se
No problem! As far as I know the latest version for the original version of skyrim is 1.9.32.0.8 which is fairly compatibility. However there is some talk that 1.9.32.0 is slightly more stable.
Thank you so much mate, you saved my game with this

The launcher opens, but then the game window doesn't load, which I do???
Try to redownload the depot files. Make sure they all fully download. I didnt show this in the video but the depot files can take awhile to download depending on your internet speed.
I received this message trying to do the console portion, any idea what it means and how to fix it?
CAPIJobRequestUserStats - Server response failed 2
Sounds like an issue with Steams servers if you request the same download command twice. I would give it another go and see if it will let you download the file. If that doesn't work might trying using a VPN to download it.
I'm trying to install 1.5.97, I did everything you said up to 5:05 but when I run skyrim it CTD after I hit load on a saved file.
Have you downloaded BEES? It is linked in the description and is needed to run the game with AE content.
@@naevyskrisvalur3865 I had to reinstall both patches and it fixed it. Thanks!

Not 100% sure as Ive never had this problem before. Is your Skyrim directory pointing to the correct location in MO2 after the downgrade?
I'm trying to reinstall Skyrim SE 1.5.97. Everything says its Special Edition, except in the .exe description, where it says its v1.6. Now, when I open the game and try to 'upgrade' the files to the proper AE, Steam is trying to make me repurchase the game instead of doing the upgrade. So, once again, I'm stuck.
Did you try the process again? Sounds like the exe either didn't download the right one or it wasn't properly replaced by windows?
Works as of 12/9/2024, on another note this dudes download speed is insane
😂 I edited the video so you all wouldnt have to wait for it to download. Thanks for confirming it still works!
I followed everything you said but my game crashes at launch now :/
I have the Skyrim Special Edition Version and wanted to download the 1.5.97 version.
This is a life saver because the downgrader patch was acting weird and I couldn’t get it to work no matter what I did
Glad it worked!
Thank you so much! I can play my skyrim again without any issue on the older version :)
Glad I could help! Happy modding!

That's normally how it goes. Spend more time modding the game than actually playing it 😂
Hello, question from an totally modding-noob. I did all the steps in the Video an have the game now on 1.6.640 and i want to mod the game. But for that i need the SKSE and from the side i have from a modding tutor-video the version is 1.5.97. So will i get any problems with the modding or is it ok that i have the 1.6.640?

Yeah man! No problem! Glad to hear it still works!
WOW MAN, I didn't know about this console thing. Thank you very much!
No problem! It's a cool trick right. Glad I could help!
help, when I add these files, I have to click "check file integrity", but when I do, I go back to the original version. What could be the reason for this?
Don't launch through Steam. Launch from the Skyrim exe. Also make sure to block updates changing that Steam files to read only as shown at the end of the video.
I HAVE A QUESTION
so now that there are 3 Creation Club mods I want to play I need the newer game files how do I download the depots for the new game files without canceling out what I just did having reverted to 1.6.640
Some creation club mods may require 1.6.1170. You might have to update, download the creations you want, then downgrade to 1.6.640, then use the Backported Extened ESL Support mod to make sure they work. Additionally you could use a mod like Anniversary Edition Content Picker to sort them in your mod manager and decide what you want to load into the game.
skyrim v1.5.97 crashes when i start new game without mod how to fix this
i downlod from steam through depot but i got crash on starting new game
So I didn't want to waste peoples time in the video and cut out how long it took to download the game but make sure you get a confirmation that all depot files have completed downloading. This process is essentially just redownloading the entire game. If all files are not present it will crash. I just downgraded myself to 1.5.97 about a week ago so it should still work.
So after I move the old depot files to my Skyrim I can no longer launch skyrim. What could be causing this.
I've got the same issue
I didn't show it in my video but the depot files take a little while to download. Make sure the download finishes before replacing the files. Additionally if you are already using mods make sure you are using the correct version of SKSE64.
@@circuitscore In my case I do not have mods installed and I waited for the download on the Steam console to complete with the three folders and I got a black screen when I started the game and it suddenly closed

Did you downgrade your SKSE version to 1.5.97 and have your mod organizer pointing to it?
Might as well do both change the appmanifest files to read only and also "Only Update This Game when I Launch it"
Thanks, this worked.
Do you happen to have the depot files for every language? I can't find Italian and changing it through steam doesn't work
Hi there. Glad it worked. Also I did an extensive search and found additional instructions to download the language pack. I added it to the description and will add it here as well. I have not tried this method yet so would be worth backing up your skyrim installation.
Additional Instructions:
If you are looking to change the default game language, and you have not modified your 'Skyrim_Default.ini' file, it is as simple as right-clicking the Skyrim game in your Steam games list, selecting 'Properties…', and changing the 'Language' dropdown in the 'General' tab to the language of your choice.
@@circuitscore I have more than enough. Thats why I am so confused :/
That is odd. You ever get it to work?

I can't find vind a working skse for version 1.5.97 it's really frustrating I even Tried SKSe 2.0.17 nothing works
Hey there. I have updated the description to help people find the download links for the SKSE versions. See below:
*Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) Archive Downloads*
skse.silverlock.org/download/archive/
For Skyrim version 1.5.97: Download "skse64_2_00_20.7z"
Hope this helps.
i do the downgrade, it is on the version i want it but when i start it there is only the menu and a black screen behind, no skyrim art it usually has and when i press new game is just closes the game completely
I didn't show it in the video to keep things short, but one of those Depot commands takes a while to download. Make sure all files are completely downloaded before copying them over as we are just replacing the files with an older version of the game. Also make sure your SKSE is for the version you downgraded to.
Thank you I was losing my mind over this you saved me from going even more insane. You sir are a true son of Skyrim 😎🗡
Haha Bethesda really need to stop touching this game. Glad it worked happy modding!
Bethesda logic! 😂
Does anyone have a solution to my problem? Whenever I try to launch the game I keep getting the message
“The procedure entry point Steaminternal_Createnterface could not be located in the dynamic link library
C:\Steam\steamapps\common Skyrim Special
Edition\SkyrimSE.exe.”
Thanks
I would try the downgrade process again. Make sure the depot files fully download as I skipped over this part in the video to keep it short.
The Anniversary Content Picker will allow you to consolidate the added files from the Anniversary edition and you can decide if you want them turned on or off.
omg i would have lost my mind without your help, much thanks, you're the greatest

Been sitting here for a half hour for 2 of my commands to finish downloading after the last command downloaded instantly. No idea what is happening.
So it is essentially redownloading the entire game. Depending on your internet connection it can take awhile.
successfully changed it to version 1.6.640, but now none of the skse loaders are compatible with it, so i can't even start the game, let alone mods, because it says i need to update to the correct skse. what am i doing wrong?? i'm trying to make it version 1.5.97 now because at least there's an skse loader for that version. i probably sound very silly rn im not very tech savvy lol, i've just been trying to get my skyrim to start for several days now.

Head over to the SKSE website and make sure to download the version associated with 1.6.640
So i just fresh installed and I'm not sure what I'm looking at with these anniversary files.
I haven't put any mods on it or anything (I am also downgrading from 1.6.1170) if there is something i can do to fix this please give me some ideas thank you
I have the same problem
You could try to rebuild the game from scratch into a new folder instead of replacing all of the files. Also I didn't show it in the video to keep things to the point but the download can take awhile to complete as its just redownloading the entire game. Make sure all depot files finish downloading before replacing the files.
Do you only have to start the game until the menu or actually start a new save game before starting the changing process? Kind of a hassle to go through the intro but will do if needed of course
Its recommended to start a new save but it will probably work with an existing one as well. You could also use a mod like Alternate Start to skip the beginning.
Hey mate, do you also have the depots to pre NG-Versions of Fallout 4 or do you know where to get them? That would be great!

I did what you did and moved the files to the skyrim folder. but when i check it. it still the same version. any tips or advice you can give to me?
Try to give it another go. Or you could try to add all of the files to a new location instead of replacing them. That would essentially just rebuild the game from scratch and ensure that it downgrades.

Good stuff thanks for the info. Do you need to download the 1.5.97 version of skse along with this method?
You can decided which version you want to run. The two most popular versions are 1.6.640 (works natively with legendary content) works with most 3rd party mods. The other version is 1.5.97 which is pre legendary edition that works with almost all mods but you will have to run best of both worlds and ESL backport support to get anniversary content to work.
Hello , how to search those download command? i require creation club content at 1.6.1170 version for the Lorerim modpack
I found those commands from searching Nexus and doing my own testing. You could update to 1.6.1170. Download the needed CC content and then downgrade back down to 1.6.640. This is the last version that works with Anniversary content.

So when I go back to 1.6.640 or 1.5.97 did I need to download the same SKSE version for the port or it is ok to still using the latest SKSE 1.6.1170?
Yes make sure you go and grab the SKSE specifically for version 1.6.640 or 1.5.97.
@@circuitscore thank you, in your opinion which one is the better if i'am going back to older version, the 1.6.640 or the 1.5.97??
I prefer 1.6.640 since all of the mods I use are compatible and also since it works natively with Anniversary content. However there is still an argument for 1.5.97 since it has slightly better compatibility However there are very very few mods that don't work with 1.6.640.

I followed your exact tutorial but my Skyrim version is still 1.6.1170. I’m not sure where I went wrong.
Hmmmmm I'm not exactly sure what happened. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is the depot downloads can take awhile to complete. Make sure all files downloaded before replacing the files.
Thank you! My Skyrim shadow updated last night
I got you :)
i did everything in the video but now skyrim wont boot up period im also not getting any sorta error codes? any idea
Did all of the depot files completely download? Some of them can take awhile. I did not show this in the video for the sake of keeping it short and to the point.
@@circuitscore yeah i believe something like that happened i tried it a couple more times and got it to work
@@nailedu2883 Glad to hear!
Thank you for the vid. It's god sent.
No problem!
great video man. short, concise, and works perfectly. 10/10
That's what I like to hear! Thanks
Awesome video. I'm back to 1.5.97. Thank you friend!
Works as of 4/30/24
God bless you! ✝
weird. it just makes it so skyrim does not open for me
I did the steps one to one
@@raywarlock Is it giving you any errors, when you try to launch it.
@stolentube868 glad it worked!! Happy modding.
It's not working for me 😢
@@raywarlock me too
Great guide. Just one question. It says in the menu that online services are disabled. Does that matter for any reason?
It wont matter unless you want to download additional creations. However with Nexus mods you will be able to find all of those creation and more so I don't think it will hinder your experience.
@@circuitscore awesome thanks for the reply.
