A funny thing about "House Guest" is that Steven's voice actor sorta "finds" Steven's voice in the middle of the episode. Steven had a lower-pitched, yet more childish-sounding, voice in "Season 1A", which he still has at the beginning of the episode, but by the end of the episode Steven's voice shifts heavily toward the higher-pitched slightly-gravelly voice he's going to use for pretty much the rest of the series. And while Beach City is fictional, it has many elements that strongly resemble several beachfront towns and cities in that area!
The primary real-life inspiration for Beach City is Rehoboth Beach (where President Biden usually chills); the Beach City boardwalk and Funland are nearly copies of the Rehoboth Beach originals. @@SliceOfDog very true! Amethyst is kinda ditzy so her Gem is in her belly! As we know Garnet and Pearl DO end up facing off together, unfortunately it isn't quite the Arm Wrestling match we were hoping for
The episode "Space Race" reminded me of Brazilianite and Citrine. They are Gems from Aldebaran-B who detected the radio communication and subsequent explosion of the ship in this episode. Because of this, they came to Earth, but accidentally landed in Brazil (because Brazilianite was the pilot of their ship) and when the Crystal Gems found them, Amethyst befriended Citrine and they both fused into Ametrine so they could defeat Brazilianite. Double up! Double double double up!!!
Since it's not a spoiler, I guess it's cool to say.
Beach City is inspired by Ocean City, Maryland, US. The tri-state area is called Del-Mar-Va, and the state in Steven Universe is called Delmarva. It's Rebecca Sugar's home. I'm a neighbor, slightly more North. There were lots of folks wearing Steven's star shirt last I visited Ocean City.
Well, Mosco.
Y'know. You COULD get your answers faster if you ... I dunno ... watched and released 4 episode at a time. That would be twice as fast.
6 would be triple. Even faster.
They do live in an alternate version of America that only has 39 states or something like that, the state Steven lives in is called Delmarva and is a combination of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
Don't overthink things. It's just a silly fun little wacky show.
