Keeping a business is not for everybody and it's not unusual for business owners to never get to do what they love anymore because the successful business is keeping them super busy. Oh! I am sooooo disappointed that you have closed your shop!!! I have only just found your UA-cam videos and became quite excited when I discovered that you had a shop and that you were a watercolourist and illustrator. I love watercolour - but haven’t done very much - especially botanical florals and illustration. I also do some card making. When I saw some of your floral stamps I became very excited!!!!
I hope your family issues are more settled now, and I look forward to seeing your ongoing videos. Please, let us know if stamps from your illustrations can be found through another stamp company.

Well this explains why you have been on my radar this past year. I have loved everything you have done and in most cases have gone and bought the products you used. Your white hydrangeas are stunning! You are a good teacher and it reminds me not to be intimidated to keep trying. Stamps make that so easy. Stamp and start again! As for the Wplus9 part, do what feels right for you, but as you said, no one knows what the future holds and it might come in handy again in the future. It has become a powerful name in the industry, which will not quickly be forgotten, so I would keep it as part of your next steps (as it is a big part of you anyway) and not throw ‘the baby out with the bath water’. Not everyone watches every video you create and I think you will lose people if you change the name of your channel completely. Happy to hear we still get to see all your lovely designs! What if you rebranded by updating your logo with DW Designs and keep it very similar but in the direction you are wanting to go. This will allow you a new look but keep you existing fan base. Good luck! 💗
I’m so excited for your future Dawn! You are an amazing illustrator, artist, and teacher. I have no doubt that other companies will be thrilled to work with you, if that is what you want. Perhaps changing the channel name to DawnW plus nine would be good? It shows the change but hints at who it is for those unaware? It could even be an interim name for a few months?
I have 2 sons who are/were military. My older son is a firefighter in the Air Force, stationed in Germany, and my younger was infantry in the Army - really glad he is home now.
These are phenomenal ❤ I have many of your older stamps and I have always loved them, been out of papercrafting for a very long time, so I'm behind the loop, lol❤ so glad you aren't leaving the business and hope you design for other people!!! This is the demonstration that introduced me to card making. I was searching YT for tips on water colour techniques. I absolutely love card making now - it’s my most favourite hobby, ever 🫶🏻🧡😃….. BTW, so pleased that you are still uploading videos. Your creations are such a delightful source of inspiration.

The card today is just breathtaking. I've learned from past videos I need to be patient (hard for me) while you color "white"!!! I love the idea of keeping your handle; the tradition is so fun, and it is known. But since it was the name of your company, could that cause a problem down the road? But then again, if at some time you decide to go back that direction (with more delegation of duties) it's in place and ready to go. Always admired your coloring skills. A colorist I definitely am not. I only get by with some visual & direction that you provided in your wonderful videos. It's unbelievably awesome on how you colored this card. The stamps itself is intimidating but you just make it look so easy to color. So Beautiful! Keep inspiring & follow your heart. I’m sorry to see you are closing your store, but I totally understand your motives. I just recently found you after watching Kelly Taylor‘s videos. I know you two are BFFs, so I had to check you out. Needless to say, I am blown away! I hated Copic markers when they first came out because all they had was the chisel tip. I said that I would stick with my Tombow watercolors, thank you very much! Also, Tombows were less expensive and more accessible. I have every single color they make that I got at 40% off from Michaels! L O L! Well, then I began to watch Kelly’s videos and also Nichol Sphore, and I ran out and bought some markers and began to experiment. Low and behold, the blending works so well with the ‘new’ brush tip markers. I ran out and got more! Anyway, watching you color these hydrangeas, which is one of my favorite flowers other than pansies, I was blown away. Kelly does very intense color and this is the first time I have ever seen pale colors used in such a manner that the flower actually looks real! I am looking forward to the changes in your life especially when you do more teaching videos! I want to learn how to use my light colored Copic markers better! Bon voyage!❤
I'm so glad that you found me! Yes, I tend to lean more towards soft muted colors and Kelly is a bright girl, so between us you can pick up different tips. Oh, and I watercolor is my love language so you'll find a lot of that here too! 💕

I’m new to your channel but hearing you describe the situation you sound like a perfect candidate to work with Craftastash as a co-brand. You get to design products and do all the inspiration but they do the manufacturing and the business parts. The best of both worlds and the co-brands sometimes exchange products and make cards with mashups of their products.

Creative people almost always have to have an agent --- business is antithetical, in some people's minds, to creation.
It's really not, looked at differently. But, it does require some extroversion. I, personally, choose not to have a lot of that.

I'm very happy for you Dawn! I, too, have recently sold my business. I've continued to work there as the new owner gets on her feet -- and now I'm literally counting the days until I'm completely done. I wasn't completely sure it was the very best decision, but now that it's a few months behind me, I'm over the moon with relief to be able to focus on what I love and not all the other heavy responsibilities.
