This was and is very helpful. I am a Nigerian American my mom was married to a Nigerian and they divorced when my siblings and I were very young. I don't know any family in Nigeria. I have many Nigerian friends and I am going to visit a few of them in June. This will be a very spiritually emotional but exciting time. The excitement is so much that I am moving in circles. I have your checklist and It's Iveoma as well. Thanks so much!!!

Envelopes from regular mail will include a scanned image of the front when available, at no charge.
Thank you Bayo! Extremely helpful video! That passport picture reminder is priceless! I've had my share of running around to get passports pics in Nigeria. Imodium, YES! About 7 years ago, my first time back in Nigeria in decades, on the way to Akure from Lagos, my sister bought these to-die-for akara on the way. They were sooooo good!!! But hardly 20 mins after consuming them, I was in dire need of a stop. I don't think it was food poisoning because after I emptied everything out of my system. I was fine. But empty everything out of my system, I had to. The funny part of it was that my American born and bred son traveling with me was quite fine. He ate the akara, but didn't get sick.
hahaha American bred. That's funny. lol. YES! I need to give people this heads up. The food was so good . i just dealt with the punishment. haha But i could have saved myself trouble by just having that ready for whenever i needed it. I think it took my body a week to adjust.
Good advice Bayo! Yes those electric adapters come in handy during those long waits between flights in Paris! 😂 One thing I also do is advise my bank before leaving the US that I am traveling to Europe and Nigeria so that they won't try to decline my credit or debit card transactions thinking someone may be trying to make fraudulent transactions. Found out the hard way some years ago. 🤨

Thanks for this advice on what to take on a trip to Nigeria, as l am planning to go take my children there for the 1st time, so l am worried about not becoming a victim of all the bad news we see happening to diasporas journeying to Nigeria after almost two decades of absence.
Hi , Well you are doing the right thing by doing research and following people like me who are embarking on that journey Your kids would LOVE IT. I think you would too. Once you can overcome the disorganization. haha. Are you staying on the island ? when are you coming here ?
This is good and very informative, Bayo. In addition, buy a solar power charger to power laptop and recharge your phone. These cost about $100 for one good enough to recharge your tablets and phones to about $200 for one strong enough to keep your laptop running. Rechargeable lights and fans too make you comfortable. When you arrive in Naija, invest in a small freezer that can hold for at least 72 hours once frozen. We bought one from Thermocool some 9 years ago. It was a life saver till we moved back.
Bayo,, Your content is original and helpful. Thanks for doing your research before putting out information about Nigeria out there. Love the way you end your videos. Keep up the good work.
