Really interesting to hear you comment your own work and the work of the other.
It takes a lot of humility: exactly what is needed to keep learning whatever up your game you are.
It is beautiful to see you in process.

Takes a lot of courage - and obviously in this case skills as well - to take on motifs of that nature. Results are fabulous.

We loved Highbury and recently moved back to the states. I miss my early morning walks to Clissold park and along Highbury New Park rd.

Awesome, and I'm a watercolorist. Could I beg your indulgence Lindsey, to post that list you have stuck on your easel? I'm of the inclination that there is ALWAYS something to learn ( and usually admire) with every artist. Thank you immensely.

-What’s the point of the painting?
-Make sure drawing is accurate before starting with paint
-Keep shapes simplified and generalized
      -Compress and simplify values
-Thin to thick, fat over lean
-Use the biggest brush you can
      -Mix a ton of color
-Establish masses of local tones for entire painting
-Hit areas that will change the most first
-Don’t get caught up in detail and eliminate the unnecessary
-Don’t worry about mixing the color you see, mix the color that works
      -Check painting in mirror frequently
      -Step back and take breaks
-Leave undertone where it can be left
-At least one strong horizontal, vertical, diagonal

So sorry for the delay in responding! I we moved from the UK back to the US 4 months ago so it was total chaos for a while. This ewas Nate’s old easel and It’s just a guide for things to think about when plein air painting. It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you are outside painting so when you lose your way, it’s time to step back and check the sheet. Mrtheluckybucket pretty much nailed the list in his response. The list is comprised with the things Nate has found to be most important for developing a successful painting.

"In drawing the hairs, you lost the cat". Henry Tonks. Perhaps more attention to the focal point. Having said that, it was nice to watch two talented artists at work.
