    GABBY! It just keeps getting better, colour me jealous! It looks gorgeous for sure and thank you for taking the time to do the full walk-through to share with everyone. My stack is identical except I am running the AES and an NVME board for onboard library selection via MoOde, I gave up on Volumio since it has so many issues with performance for me. :) - Mario

    The shield pi doesn’t require earthing? Also can we use the isolator pi with the shield pi?

    Gabster,
    Thanks for another great video! I have built the streamer that you have in this video but need to connect the PerPi’s J10 to the fifo as you have here, I may have missed this in your last video. What are the connectors types used in the wire that you used for this connection? I need to get some so that I can make that wire. Also, although my streamer works (can see music playing on the monitor pro), I can’t output music to my Pontus II DAC using an HdmiPro board. Did you have to change the I2S pinout settings on either the Ares DAC or the HdmiPi to make the connection work?

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  25 днів тому

      Not sure you have the Purepi MkII and FIFO Q7 Mk II
      as this feature is not supported by previous models
      The cable comes with it
      For the no sound check that the Mc ufl is connected from Q7 to HDMI pro
      Check the manual
      Make sure Denafrips is in I 2 S input

      I have the PurePi II and the FifoPi Q7II, just haven’t been able to figure out why I can’t play sound on the Denafrips. I know the streamer plays because I see it on the screen. At this point I’ll just proceed with making the TD1 DAC and try it on that, hopefully it’ll work!

    I have see all the related videos. TDA1541a S2 is outrageously expensive and has been discontinued for at least 1 decade . What is the reason for your persistence, when JUST by adding a timing circuit with low jitter to my CD-63 (signature edition with TDA1541a), it has an improved sound?.

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  28 днів тому +7

      You actually don’t need a S2 my favorite Tda chips are mostly plain and R1 some S1 even the lowest quality one sounded great
      Just imagine if you improve the power supply and use an even lower jitter cleaner I2s signal and improve the output stage how much better your Cd-63 will sound. Basically that’s what the Gabster TD1 is

      @@Gabster1 the discrete component output stage is the best (even better than LM4562). Sadly for youtube reproduction I'm using a "cheap" (modified a little) DAC /toshlink (21 euros) from AliExpress but the sound is better than the internal DAC of my machine. To compare apples-to apples, how better can sound this very expensive compo ?

    How does it sound compared to the R-R DAC underneath, sir?

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  22 дні тому +1

      Better soundstage (Holographic) better high frequencies definition good base and overall more musical and less fatigue.
      The holographic soundstage is very easy to spot specifically with songs that has great soundstage recording
      For example listening to Zulu Voodoo by Kalia Scintilla you can easily tell the difference

    Having some weirdness with my build. Got the board together and am using the LinearPI for the +5/_5 PS. Am using a IFI Elite 15v PS for the +15. Checked the voltages and they loo good. Using the Ian Canda Streamer stack with the IS2 to PCM converter. Went through all they pre-power steps. All the UFL connectors test good. Screwed up the "JOB" setting but fixed that. Got it up and running on a cheap yamaha receiver. Making music! When I power down and move the RCAs to my Prima Luna Integrated, I get no music and a "thumping" every 2 seconds. The IFI power supply light is no longer green (like on the Yamaha), but is flashing red. The thumping is present regardless of input selected but is louder if the actual input is selected. Any help is appreciated. Jeff

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  9 днів тому

      Any chance you can check the Voltages+5v - 5v specially the 15V one The fact that it is red may be a short somewhere just guessing I do not have a elite. also if you revert back to your Yamaha does it work again?

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  9 днів тому

      Also with no power to the TD1 if you test with a Ohm meter the 15v leads is there a short should be very high > 1Mega Ohm

    • @jackgraves1006
      @jackgraves1006 9 днів тому

      yes, it still works on the yamaha. I get 22Mohms (moving all around) at the - 5 v (w ps disconnected), 18M ohms at the +5 and 0k ohms at the 15v with ps disconnected and off. with 15v ps disconnected but the female connector soldered in place. if I take measurement from larger holes it is 16M ohms. bad connector?

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  9 днів тому

      @@jackgraves1006 The 0k ohms is a short for sure
      I think I know what is going on
      your Power Supply negative is internally connected to ground on the IFI can you check that .
      Because the the Gabster TD1 uses the 15v as a negative 15 the ground is the Positive
      once you connect to the Tube Amp that has the line out negative grounded that creates a short all the way to the IFI.
      either that or a bad Connector
      To test this probability
      Test your IFI unplugged with a continuity Meter for a short between the output negative (outer cylinder) and the prongs where you plug in the wall if any are shorting (connected to the negative) you can not use this IFI my regular IFI does not do that
      the 15v should be independent from ground.
      Let me know if my theory is correct in that case your Yamaha inputs are not connected to ground and your Tube Amp is
