Just a quick vid to show a Basic resistance and continuity test with a multimeter to be conclusive in testing an element. Same technique to test any heating element ie.. Imersion heater, kettle, cooker etc. Thanks for watching.

Can you do a video on testing component on boiler like fan gas valve etc so we can rule which needs changing rather to throw parts at it and also how to test and what resistance we should expect

Good use of cable ties, I think I'll copy you.

Great explanation and an amusing way to describe the process.
Most (all) persons who are ‘pros’ would never have the dry humor wit in their presentation for fear of appearing unprofessional.
Nit wit types I guess. I hired a lawyer simply because after his first legalese explanation of the situation was shut down by my (then girlfriend, later wife) telling him to drop the intimidation jargon and restate the situation so it wasn’t any more complicated than it truly was.
His response was to sit back, adjust his tie and after a darting glance between the two of us, rest his eyes on me he said:
    “Marry this woman, she’s a keeper”😂
So I hired him, married her, and my charges were dropped on a minor possession charge that was essentially an empty ziplock with residue. Citing a noted cop who was saving the world one citizen with weed at a time. 😂

Really enjoying your videos, always very well explained. Be really good to see you explain testing on aps and gas valves in the future.

Great video, in an ideal world you’d want to to measure both continuity and insulation resistance.

Love your videos Dr Pipe, and you have taught me many useful tips, but on this occasion the multimeter isn't the best tool for this task, you require an insulation meter as it is common for an element to break down between the inner element coil and it's outer radiant sheath.
You will get continuity through the element but the the 9v cell or 6v AA's of a standard multimeter will not check insulation breakdown, even on the highest meg-ohm scale.
They will check for the common fault of an open circuit element, but if you have an oven that is nuisance tripping an RCD (which tends to happen before the element finally goes open circuit) then an insulation meter is required.

jason laverty thanks mate appreciate. I’m not a spark or electronics engineer.. this is the best I have as it wasn’t working 👍

@@drpipe Multimeter is the correct way to determine a blown element but to truly fault find and troubleshoot electrics, an insulation meter is your friend. They are really easy to use and a man of your skill could easily make use of one for your diagnostic work especially if you repair ovens or work with motors and pumps.
Great videos bud, and "lets get to work!"
