I know what you mean. This HAS to be the best piece they ever did. It's comic perfection. A peerless double-acting piece. The timing is a lesson to many double-acts of today...
I used to watch these two when it was all first time viewing..... just in the last week started watching lots of their stuff again on you tube..and laughing!.. totally forgot all the sketches they did, though some like this, seem to have a faint memory... what was it, 1990, almost 30 years ago!?... have watched this one 5 or 6 times last couple of days, can’t stop laughing and admiring the comedy acting/delivery..... funny stuff.... also makes you wish for days gone by!!!!
I am trying to find the one where the uptight stressed Londoner begs the village taxi driver to hurry up. The driver played by Mel says - 'you won't get anywhere quicker by going faster'. I would love to see that one again.

Even after 30 years this hasn't gotten any less excruciating to watch.

Fabulous, fabulous sketch. Thank you and cheerio Mel.
You were unique Mel - rest in peace
This is the first time I ever saw two men kissing on television. RIP Mel Smith.
When I heard that Mel died, I straight away looked for this particular clip.
Griff's face was built for comedy!!!
that Smith is one lucky man!!! Griff is such a charmer ;-)
And Griff is lucky to!👄👅💋
Lovely!! Hahaha.....love them!!!
Mel Smith was a pure genius. Rip.
Griff reminds me of Hugh Grant for some reason.
If Four Weddings and a Funeral had been back in the 80s. Griff would had been Hugh Grant.
The same was pointed out in one of the episodes in the S&J Sketchbook.
Brilliant
This must be broadcast in 1990 cos Griff Rhys Jones joined Not The Nine O'clock in it's second season which was broadcast in 1980.
Not entirely sure that Griff was acting at the end !
Thanks for uploading this x x
Mel Smith, RIP.
Comedy God. RIP Mel :(

I WANT THAT KISS..

I wish you would kiss me to!
mel smith was a comedic genius, but i must say italian men do not hold hands! we sometimes kiss those of our godfather though...
is everyone just waiting for Griff to pass away to say "RIP Griff such a comedic genious"??? why is everybody praising Mel over Griff???
Or genius...no griff's funny too...it's just that Mel takes the lead in this sketch ☺...and yes I know griff should be spelt Gryf 🎩
What's that old rhyme?
"Griffys a bit iffy"
"Mels absolutely swell"
Mel Rules
Gruff sucks the hyphenated idiot.
