Wow what a great reaction!!! That was genuine and true. The meaning behind the song is actually really awesome basically saying don't fear death. Loved watching this
Wow! Haven't seen a reaction to this song like this, I hope you really enjoyed it and it didn't make you too sad. This song takes me back to 1975 when I was a young man working in a steel fabrication shop on swing shift. I remember one night after getting off work a bunch of us guys got into a couple of cars and went over to someone's house to get high 🙄 I fell asleep in the back of the car I was in and when I awoke I heard this song for the first time. I don't do drugs anymore but this song always takes me back to that night. Thanks for doing the reaction!
Music has the power to evoke emotions that we didn't know were waiting in the wings. It has the power to take us to a time, a place and a being that we were meant to be. Music has the power to heal the power to move and the power to make one bow down in it's awe. Music touches the soul in a way we see, but cannot truly know until it plays. I saw this with your video today. I was having a terrible day and and this brought me to a much better place and turned my day completely around. Thank you!!!!!! I have listened to this band for decades. I thoroughly enjoy listening to their music.
This song hits you like it hits me. It makes me think of my mother. She’s still here but she won’t always be. It makes me think of her passing and it will be beautiful and she will fly but I am still here and bawling my eyes out.
I'm 61 years old. So much of this music I almost take for granted because it's what I grew up with. I'm pretty sure I speak for many..MANY..people when I say thank you for letting us "almost" experience it again for the first time with you!!!!!
It’s not a song about death. It’s a love song. Buck Dharma the singer wrote it after he was diagnosed with a heart condition. He was trying to express his love for his wife by writing this to her that his love would last forever even after his death but his heart condition wasn’t as serious as he thought it was. But he did come up with a great song about eternal love.
I call bullshit 🐂 💩, I’ve read all the gaslighting narrative, even from the writer, but how do Romeo and Juliet and the last verse where “she couldn’t go on” and meets and accepts the Reaper correlate to him having a heart condition? Seems much darker to me and he regretted it , great song though 💪
The inevitability of death and the idea that it's foolish to fear it. The song also explores the idea of eternal love and the possibility of reuniting with loved ones after death.
It's a transition from one form to another. Life goes on. Love surpasses death. Personal experience. I all but died due to a heart valve emergency. Fast forward I overcame it and have a second chance. I fear death less now and appreciate life more than ever.
This is the finest reaction video I have ever seen. Great songs like this are made for people like you. You are absolutely correct, "It's the feeling" and this video is amazing.
You are the real Mccoy. Beautiful reaction. It's too bad there aren't more people like you. I lost my guitar buddy at the age of 57, I was 52.It took me 2 years before I was able to listen to our guitar jams. I'm 58 now and there are many songs/music over the years that still bring me to tears. It's not a weird response. Cheers from canada.
Thanks for the great reaction video. BOC's music is imbued with the savage beauty of the existential realms. I have a feeling you will enjoy their entire catalog.
I remembered the 1981 heavy metal movie and the song Veteran of the Psychic Wars by Blue O.C, and the ballad Open Arms by Journey and the great soundtrack with bands like Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar, Stevie Nicks, Nazareth, among others.🥲😅🥲😅🤣
Don't worry girl. I was born early 70s and grew up with this, it was in my dads playlist and merged into my playlist and 50 years later I still tear up.
Is it normal, to cry ugly from the very onset of this song? I don't think so Blessing, but YOU are far from "normal"! You are an artist, with deeper sensitivities than the "normal"! Thank goodness!!!

I had the pleasure of hearing this tune when it was released in 1976 and had the same reaction as you. And I'm a guy! I was with my friends and was moved in a way that I couldn't explain and coupled with the lyrics took it to another dimension. We are on the same page. Thanks for that heartfelt reaction you've earned a faithful sub! Well done...
Wow, you are feeling it. I was in my teens when this song was released. We took it as Death isn’t to be feared, and the reaper is there to take you to your next life, not to be the cause of your death.
I feel about this song the way you do! It's one of a kind. And so are you whether you're talking about music or other subjects you get to the heart of it. You are such a lovely person. I feel you💞
It's a lovely song, and it was great watching your reaction. Heck, I'm not a hugger, and I thought you could use a hug early on there. It's a wonderful balance of lightness, somber tones, and understated grief. "It was clear that she couldn't go on," followed by the macabre scene, and then as she's gone, the wailing guitar starts crying out. The song is sonic and lyrical artistry.

Wow! 😳 Quite a reaction Blessing. I think you are a beautiful sensitive soul😊! If you liked this song, you may like Steve Miller Band's "Fly Like An Eagle". 😊😊
The musical composition is in harmony and balanced with the vocal tone of the singer and the band, I am fascinated by how you have overcome your moment of emotion in listening to the song and its particular meaning, ending then with your famous reassuring smile 🌺
💜 you love my harmonies I think you should check out my songs I do a lot of that here is my channel where I upload original songs: youtube.com/@blessinggomero?si=b7p_iZ_Ritt9_2L9

Blessing, you really had me going through so many emotions experiencing that with you. Wow.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Godzilla truly is a fun song, although it does contain a deep message to it. But this song that we just listens to, it's just one of those perfect recordings, it was made in the right way at the right time and it landed in the right situation and it just got so popular for so long. It still is. And then years later, the Saturday Night Live skit with Will Ferrell about more cowbell, and Christopher walken, it just put it back in the Limelight and it still gets a lot of rotation on classic rock stations and even in reactions.
One of the greatest songs to ever been written and sang. I was born in 1969 and when I was a kid and first heard this song I was instantly infatuated with rock n roll. Godzilla is a great tune also but don't fear the reaper is in a class of its own. You she'd tears listening to this for a reason. That's the thing about music: it allows us to express our feelings/ emotions . I love your channel.
Happy Birthday Blessing! You don' ugly cry. You gorgeous cry!❤🥰😂 On your comedy channel, you should react to the Saturday Night Live skit, More Cowbell. It is a spoof of this song, starring the actors Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell & Christopher Walken. It's hilarious! If you look at your comments here, you will see people making More Cowbell jokes.
Very touching to watch your reaction, Blessing. ❤ The song really is remarkable; absolutely brilliantly crafted with a guitar riff that just grabs you and won't let go. It was beautiful seeing how it swept over you. The lyrics are ultimately very dark -- essentially about a woman being seduced into committing suicide. But that makes the song even more memorable. Thanks for showing up so authentically. 🤗
Oh! I forgot to say, another huge Kansas hit that to me is kind of in the direction of Carry On Wayward Son, is Point of No Return, from their iconic album Point of Know Return. It's a tour de force, but it's got really emotional themes and singing and whatnot to it. It's powerful.
"They could have been singing about apples and bananas..." Not related to BOC, but you would love 30000 Pounds of Bananas by American folk singer Harry Chapin. He has songs that will melt your heart too, but this song was how I was introduced to him.
Girl, they would do well to hire you as front person, singing and dancing. Just what you did here. It was beautiful and moving. Not sure if the band is still together, but Richie Castellano from the band is now founding member of The Band Geeks, who recently created a magnificent record with Jon Anderson, founder of Yes.
They have a lot of good songs. "Burnin' for You" was good. Another kind of quirky love song with sad lyrics they did was "Shooting Shark", which is not about what it sounds like at all.
I checked out your reaction to Kansas dust in the wind, and the way that you said you really liked instrumental. You MUST react to procol harum- whiter shade of pale, live!! I guarantee you you will love it! That and the Danish national orchestra- The Good The bad and The ugly!!! I have just found you, and I really like your reactions, you've got a new follower! PLEASE react to those two!!
This is one of the most misunderstood songs in rock history. It has been considered a song advocating suicide because of its mentioning Romeo and Juliet. Actually, Buck Dharma intended this song to be a love song, more specifically, eternal love. He thought about dying early and eventually welcoming his love to the afterlife. It is a beautiful song, and their most popular, but it is incredible live because of the energy BOC put into it as well as Buck’s guitar work. It is their encore song and a heck of a way to end a concert! 🤘 It is their encore song and a song that spawned the famous Saturday Night Live skit, More Cowbell.
Sometimes it's gonna double team your emotions: this one activates thoughts and feelings about death, so the energy is there in your nervous system, but then it hits you with lyrics about acceptance and music that resonates at your core, which Lifts those emotions so they can be released. The chemicals in your nervous system that hung on to whatever those feelings are gotta come out somewhere, and your eyes are the closest spot to get it out. Some songs just find a way to provide relief to you in ways you didn't know you needed it. Hey and dancing shakes it loose too bc it expresses emotion and resonates with the source of the lifting energy, which is physically hitting you with sound waves and shaking the stagnant nerve endings. This is literally medicine in vibratory form. In many ways it's why I play guitar, and why rock as a genre is so important in it's ability to confront both the best and worst of humanity and life overall.
That was just a small taste of what this band could do. They were the original "progressive" band in rock, so their catalogue is stylistically very diverse. Don't expect other songs to sound like this, but they are just as amazing. My favorite is "Fire of Unknown Origin". More than that, they are the band musicians listen to. They have influenced virtually everyone in the music business. They are a pillar of Rock and Metal, but appreciated by musicians from all genres. This song set the tone for 70's rock, with soft harmonies, and a lot of acoustic space between the guitar and other instruments, well defined instrumental solos, etc. They weren't the first to do that, but they brought it into the mainstream, followed by bands like Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc who really leaned heavily into those elements for a very similar sound, distinctly different from the Folk and Protest rock of the 60s. And they discovered many bands along the way and helped them kick off brilliant careers. I'll let you explore that aspect on your own because I don't know which of those bands you are familiar with, but the list is pretty mind-blowing. Great reaction to a timeless classic.
Mrs PenPal you started this reaction by calling us allbeautiful people. Thank you so much and please react to the song "Beautiful People" by Rusted Root. You probably have already heard their most famous song "On My Way".
I've had the pleasure of seeing them live twice. My favorite BOC song and always will be. The beginning of Stephen King's "The Stand" (1994 and best version) features this as the opening track. Some folks back when this was on the radio every day thought it was encouraging suicide but deep down it's a love song. "The love of two is one". Another band with this kind of vibe and depth you need to check out if you haven't already is Kansas. Fun fact: Before they were "Blue Oyster Cult", they were 'The Great White Underbelly'.
Hi dear funny you mentioned Kansas I actually noticed this kindred spirit with them and I mentioned it in this video :). Thanks we have some Kansas Video on the channel you can check out when you have a minute. My first ever for Kansas was carry ward son and it disarmed me. My second song for Kansas was dust in the wind all are on this channel. Will drop links for you below for easy retrieval
Blue Öyster Cult is unlike any other rock band, hence why theyre my all time favourite. I would also recommend; Then came the last days of may (true story) White flags (love song) burnin' for you (also love song) the vigil (actually a masterpiece) godzilla (classic) and favourite song of all time: before the kiss a redcap hope you enjoy, they are truly one of a kind. You will never hear someone say BÖC & such and such
BOC used to play smaller venues under the name Soft White Underbelly so they could try out new material to a live audience. Also if you want a song to make you cry, listen to Cats In The Cradle by Harry Chapin. It should be required listening for every expectant father.
Thanks for your generous comment. You’ve been a part of this channel for so long. It’s really something that we have people like you who have been part of the PenPal Family for years. Happy to have you here ✨
Godzilla is lots of fun, this one is more serious. Check out the beautiful cover of this from the gothic band "Unto Ashes", it's totally different but really good.

"Hypnotized" by Fleetwood Mac ! Is an Awesome Song !
Thanks
Blue Oyster Cult "I Love The Night"...TRUST ME!!
For a song about death, this is incredibly soothing and peaceful. The transition out of the solo may be the best I've ever heard.

It is okay. The same reaction hit me when I first heard it…haunting and beautiful.
Amazing reaction! The middle 8 in this song is one of the best I've ever heard in a single, so hard rock! It's a great song.
Hi beautiful! I saw them live in Athens in 1987, with my first great love by my side, and they were great. Thank you!

What song, What a band.
They have sooo many great songs. Many considered artistic masterpieces

I had the pleasure of hearing this tune when it was released in 1976 and had the same reaction as you. And I'm a guy!
I saw this band in a smaller night club probably at the lowest pint of their career when they first became a dinosaur band after high point. they were still not that old and sounded really good. What a treat. Now, they could demand too much again if they still play. I don't know what happened to them personally at this point. One of my favorites of theirs is "Stairway to The Stars"

They must of had 15 albums, so much BOC to enjoy. Happy birthday 🎉

And they discovered many bands along the way and helped them kick off brilliant careers. I'll let you explore that aspect on your own because I don't know which of those bands you are familiar with, but the list is pretty mind-blowing.
Great reaction to a timeless classic.
I appreciate you thanks for sharing
You should listen to Blue Oyster Cult's Veteran of the Psychic Wars. Very moving song about ptsd.
Blue Öyster Cult is unlike any other rock band, hence why theyre my all time favourite. I would also recommend;
Then came the last days of may (true story)
White flags (love song)
burnin' for you (also love song)
the vigil (actually a masterpiece)
godzilla (classic)
and favourite song of all time: before the kiss a redcap
hope you enjoy, they are truly one of a kind. You will never hear someone say BÖC & such and such
Please do a reaction to Mr. Big, " To Be With You". Happy Birthday🎉!
Thanks my friend
It's one of the best songs ever I don't quite understand the fun part it's so fun I think it has a really great message
BOC used to play smaller venues under the name Soft White Underbelly so they could try out new material to a live audience. Also if you want a song to make you cry, listen to Cats In The Cradle by Harry Chapin. It should be required listening for every expectant father.
Saw them live in 1978.
Magical. Just wait until you react to “I Love the Night.”
Seen them twice once with lazers and the second time they were outlawed
After Godzila you should react to Cities on flame with rock n roll by BOC. Another fun song
Dispersion don't get me wrong it's very cool put their live version will slap you right in the face it's so good
Hit repeat
Ugly cry?...Girl not even, you couldnt be ugly if you tried. Very beautiful reaction love.
