I used to go on an exchange to near Dusseldorf as a 15/16 year old and found the old town amazing. Especially for getting served cheap beer!
It's one of the reasons why I moved from inner city Birmingham to live in a picturesque Dutch city. It is nothing short of a joy during the spring/summer/autumn months to walk, bike through this city.

sick of hearing the argument for playing bewllingham as an 8 and foden as a 10. Bellingham is one of the best players in the world right now, why play him out of position just to help foden out. I agree that foden would be better in that positon but not better than Jude. We would also be better starting someone else on the left.
Southgate is defensive minded but a more attack minded manager would play Jude and Foden as 8s
jude is not out of position as an 8, that's his most natural one. only reason madrid didnt play him there last season is they didnt have a proper striker in the starting xi. believe me, next season with mbappe and endrick coming in, madrid will play bellingham in his natural position, as an 8.

Apart from the game against Holland in '96, i dont think I've ever seen England really turn it on in a major tournament.
I don't watch the Spanish or German leagues or the championship. So I haven't seen much of him apart from for England. He has improved so much. Just a complete midfielder.
I must have missed something because for the first 20 mins we were dazzling and then we get the goal and Southgate orders the troops to organise defensively drop deeper and become compact..That is default Southgate any of the idiots thinking he was going to change and become this "let's go for it" coach just based on leaving certain players out of the squad was living in a dream world..

Kane would be subbed off after 45 minutes with Foden if I managed.
Not sure why Kane? Foden was a “creator” and he was redundant so fully agree there, he’d have been my first withdrawal with Trent. But with us playing that high up, Kane HAD to stay up there because if he dropped deep his marker would come into midfield too.

It's not just the opening game, if Pardew actually watched the games he would have noticed it's everything that comes after that too. 2006, 2010, 2016 same story: everybody wants to believe it gets better after the initial struggle, yet it never does.

Not true. We dazzeled when we beat Italy in qualifiers back to back, for the first time on italian soil 50 odd years. That was actually dazzeling to be fair.

England have in the end a very new set of players, that have to adjust to the southgate brand of football. And they haven't had much time in the build up to really start gelling.
Starting moderately and building momentum , can also totally play into their hands as the tournament progresses.

Everybody speaks some alternative options like Gordon and Eze, but nobody mentions Cole Palmer and what he is capable of. A good coach would find a place for such a talented player. There is no excuse for keeping him in reserve, as well as there is no excuse for not having Jack Grealish in the squad. That is the power of this England generation that Mr. Southgate keeps on wasting. Hence the mediocrity we are witnessing.

Losing the ball 20 times in the defensive half in 2nd half was not good vs losing it 8 times in the first hakf, which was excellent.
That can be fixed with improved fitness & better SLEEP after prayer or meditations, which in turn improves focus.

Bath, Edinburgh, York, Glasgow, Lincoln, Central London, Cambridge, Oxford, Norwich, Chester, Stratford-upon-Avon, Exeter, Inverness, City of Westminster, Chichester, Aberdeen are all cities in the UK that are far nicer than Dusseldorf from the top of my head and there's loads more cities and towns I've not mentioned that are far better places in the UK too than Dusseldorf.

I’d drop Kane and put Foden in the False 9. With him and Palmer interchanging and Bellingham given license to still get forward. Kane slows down the attack far too much and England are much more fluid without him.
