The 2024 Acer Swift Go is a pretty good laptop with a good port selection, bright OLED screen, clear 1440p webcam, clear internal mics and nice AI effects. The only negative for me of course is the soldered RAM which I suppose on a 14" laptop, it's to be expected. This is why if you want to upgrade it, then you need to upgrade it to 32G when ordering it. I agree with you Andrew that while the audio quality of the internal speakers is not really bad, it could use a little bit more bass. Other than this, at $999 for the base model, it's a steal to get all of this for that price. Excellent review Andrew and a Very Happy New Year to you and your family! All the Best in 2024 my friend!! 👍😁
I just got mine from Costco after ordering it a week ago. The manufacturing date was 12-23-2023. I’ve used it for six hours so far and I absolutely love it. I won’t be using it for video games. Just a lot of photo and video editing. Also to take a cyber security class. I picked this one up so after the class, it can kind of grow with me. The class being only six months. Thank you Sir for the great review.
1:05 Great seeing Max there as an Easter Egg :) Review was great overall, as always. One minor issue that I couldn't help noticing is the lack of precision in cut outs for HDMI and USB-A(Right Side) ports that unnecessarily puts a stain on otherwise very well built machine.
I just bought a refurbed Acer Chromebook Spin 13 (i3, 8gb, 64gb emmc, 2k glossy, touch etc...) for 80 bucks on Amazon. It looks and works like brand new. I got it as a travel companion. I had an older Samsung Evo 256 sd card, I put it in and formatted and copied over 200gb of music/videos/movies from a Adata external ssd. The entire process took about 45 minutes. Impressive. Just yesterday I found the hidden stylus pen under the front right edge, slid down into its tunnel. It works. The Spin 13 keeps impressing me for how old it is. Acer is upping their game for sure.
Would you recommend the IPS Touchscreen or OLED? I’ve head OLED looks better but might have screen burn issues and lower battery? You also said it can be configured in 32GB Ram, but I don’t see that available?
I prefer usb type c on the left on this one rather than the right like the zenbooks. Port selection is excellent. If only it had ir camera, this laptop would be perfect.
Bravo, David! Another great job!! P.S. I wonder why are we seeing so few 5G laptops (installed by default) these days?? It should be a must! I've been searching possilbities and there are just a few, such a shame! I want to bring my laptop everywhere so I can connect 4G/5G. 5G lacking laptop is a dealbreaker for me. They can add it later in the configuration but... this gotta be DEFAULT feature.
Ive been using an Acer E5-573G for the last eight years, and it has been very reliable. reliable keyboard, reliable hinges, and no motherboard issues at all. I think this Acer swift model will be reliable too. However, I am waiting to see the new Acer Swift Edge with Intel processor and a more sturdy build.
Nice pc. Camera is good. Speakers sounded a little flat and tinny. Display looked good. Like the second ssd slot and changeable wifi slot. Price seems reasonable for what you get. I think adding one more USB-C port on the other side makes sense. Remember when connected to the power adapter only one USB-C port is available. Some users might want two available. Great review.
Good review thanks Andrew. Feel like Acer have stepped up their game a bit. Their oled displays have been nice but really let down by other aspects like the quiet tinny speakers & overall build quality. Hard to tell how good the speakers are without the macbook played after (always useful as a baseline esp over mic & youtube), but they do sound better than I remember on older models. Thanks for includingba track with some bass in it. 😊 Looking forward to this one hitting NZ shores.
Thank you forthe review. I like this Acer quite a bit. Really missed that total carry weight portion..gotta have the scale! Acer makes an identical model to this but with AMD Ryzen 7840U/780M. I know because I have it sitting beside me right now. It has the same OLED screen. So far, the only differences appear to be: - the 2 x Type-C ports are USB4 with DP-out & charging instead of the TB4 ports on the Intel model. - the WiFi card in my AMD model is a MediaTek MT9722 6E module, socketed so it is replaceable. - the battery in my AMD model is 53Wh, less than the Intel, we all know why (AMD efficiency). Also worth noting is that there is only ONE M.2 socket. Andrew... can you double-check your Intel model if you still have it and confirm if it only has ONE or actually has TWO M.2 sockets? From what I can see in the video there is only ONE M.2 socket (occupied) in the Intel model, the same as my AMD model.
