8:05 That's why I love Fable of the Mirror Breaker. Its backside is basically the same effect, but since you get there so late and it costs mana to activate, it really isn't about comboing off with it. It's all about value with that card, particularily since the first 2 chapters are incredibly efficient aswell.
Thanks for reaching out to me I appreciate it very much I’ve been having trouble with my Discord and Patreon but it’s been on my end not yours so I appreciate it and it’s a very good piece about your favorite sets probably Some of my favorite things you’ve done very cool
That's a solid list of cards, and I agree that the set unfairly got a bad rap. I loved Champions and Betrayers but was a little disappointed with Saviors. Kamigawa block was also the one that taught me to buy singles instead of boosters - I was trying to build a ninja deck and after opening 16 boosters, I still didn't have a single rare or even uncommon ninja, so i just bought the cards I needed.
When I used it to play CounterTop in Legacy, I would make sure that - against green decks - if I had a 3-mana card in my top 3 cards, after I drew my card, the 3-drop was on top just for Krosan Grip.
Love Kamigawa, always been my favorite block for the flavor. Had no idea about forbidden orchard, fantastic addition to a Kelsien deck since that's an easy experience counter each tap.
I started playing in Kamigawa. I got the selesnya and gruul precons, which were straight up awful, but I loved the set. Sure, the mechanics were wonky and the creatures were weak, and there were some really busted cards in there, but the theme was awesome. My first booster had a Sensei's Divining Top and Kodama of the North Tree. I still use the Top in my Yuriko deck, which is kinda fitting. Fun story: At that time there were three rules in mtg that don't exist today. Mana burn (taking 1 damage for each unspent mana at the end of each phase), damage going in the stack and legendary cards destroying each other when they enter the game. People would play Umezawa's Jitte, which was nauseating, just to destroy the other player's Jitte, because EVERYBODY played Jitte. If you had at least one creature in your deck, you had to put Jitte in.
I started in Ice Age, then loved tempest block and as a kid, was not able to buy cards from each set and kinda fell out around judgement. Sold all my cards and then came back in during ravnica, then fell back out for a couple years again and came back around Alara block.
I can relate to being out of magic for a bit here and there myself. I started with the tail end of weatherlight up until the onslaught block. I came back in around darksteel/fifth dawn. I dipped out again right after timespiral released. And I've been playing continuously since shadowmoor/eventide, and started playing commander in 2009. I even sold my cards once. Never again lol. This has made me think, though, of just how... different magic is now. Do you know what I mean? Like compared to the olden days there's just so many more layers. Different parts and pieces that can and do exist but are not there, or all of the tokens and counters, or how the game has shifted away from being a story based game. Some stuff has been around a long time, but not so pushed like its been the last few years. Some of the stuff we get to do now would've been considered pipe dreams at so many points in my magic playing history though. White, red, and boros are my colors, and white now vs white then? It's not even the same game, but I like it. I get to draw cards now too!! Kudos on the thoughts you provoked from an old timer :)
You forgot about Fastbond… definitely the best “play all of the lands” card ever printed. 😂 However, it’s definitely the best LEGAL “play all of the lands” card, though.
Kamigawa got me back into magic 18yrs ago, came back an was disappointed at the set, quit again, and then came back this March for the new set. Now I'm all in. #weeblife lol
Been playing since 94 and have quit twice. Sold my collection both times. Game is like a black hole, keeps sucking you in lol. This is my third and largest collection of cards.
Controversial opinion but Ive always thought the “beloved” nicknames for MTG cards like Steve or Tim or Eugene are uncreative and kinda cringe. I like Saky a lot better: its on the card and it just makes more sense thematically. Whenever I hear these other lower quality nicknames I’ll be shaking my head because I’ll have already come up with a much better one IMO

I like forbidden orchard but I love it in my Toxrill deck.

fastbond is banned in practically everything, but i guess it does technically get lands into play faster.
@@edhdeckbuilding I knew what you meant. I was just giving you a hard time. I love your content.

Where is the land cycle ? Shizo, minamo, eiganjo... are cool and have no drawbacks.
