Man, I have not stopped watching. Every video makes me want to do something similar but I just don't have the tools. I would love to make something like this for my little music studio. Keep the videos coming man and if you ever decide to open up a store be sure to let us know!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support buddy! I'll let you know for sure If I ever do and as long as people keep watching I'll keep them coming! Thanks!!
So glad I found this channel. I'm moving to a new house next month and plan on using a lot of your videos since they're the best hands down. Looking forward to seeing more!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I have some Klipsch speakers. They are pretty old but sound great to me as well! Its a 5.1 setup. I'm not sure what model they are but i would say they are on the low end of what Klipsche offers.
Great efford and it looks great. The only thing i miss on all of these projects is lights react to frequency rather then volume. So you can see the bass, midd and highs reacting on your "music analyser". Thats what keeping me away from building this sort of stuff.
Man... You make some cool videos that inspire me. Recently I fell into this led lighting hobby. Just want to say please keep them coming. Also I know you like wled and thought you should know you can buy the sp511e controller and flash wled sound reactive version on it.
Thanks so much! Appreciate the support and glad you are enjoying the videos! I have yet to try the sp511e controller but I for sure want to at some point. What are some of the advantages to that? Does WLED sound reactive work well?!?!
@@ChrisMaherDIY I bought the sp511e as a way to get around wled but it very limited in the effects department compared to wled. I would say that that the main benefit. The sound reactive version of wled is nice because you have everything you had before plus sound reactive effects.
I'm wanting to make one much smaller and as a decal that can be put on the back of a motor helmet. How difficult do you think that would be. I found no alternative so it looks like I'll be doing it myself
Hey Chris, love your videos. Would like to try this. I’m trying to get my head around the wiring. I think I get it but do you have a diagram that explains how the lights run in succession?
Pretty slick, man! very straightforward, clean, and looks awesome! I like that you kept your options open on power injection. I probably would have injected power from the other end just for my own sanity, but that's my OCD talking. As you mentioned in another comment, this would be very easy to convert over to WLED. I'm not sure if LedFx supports matrices or not, but that may be a viable option to pair with WLED. I like the simplicity of being able to connect to this with Bluetooth and that it just works, but I would definitely want it on wifi and would want some non-music uses for it as well. I may have to put together a matrix now and play with it, you've given me some ideas 😅
Thanks as always! Yeah I tried to make it so you can easily swap designs or controllers. I also didn't need any power injection as I was running the lights at about 10% brightness. Anything more than 10% was just way too bright for my liking. But If I were trying to run everything at 100%, for sure would need the extra juice for some of the white animations! Thanks again for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Bought the whole kit. Assembled. Only thing I'm feeling challenged with is the controller mic is not great. Any suggestions on how to more effectively get sound into the controller?
Thanks so much for watching and great question. I think you could potentially do something similar to this with the m1 but you are limited by the cut points on the strip. I did see that Govee came out with some music bars that look pretty cool that I still want to check out!
Nice..! Ok so I use the headphone jack of my phone to plug into a vintage 1970s receiver. Being the app is BT will it function while using the headphone jack...?
WLED has a sound reactive version of the software that works really well! Some of the animations are similar! Here is a video I did walking you through getting the WLED sound reactive version set up: ua-cam.com/video/_jZRzWsw8gs/v-deo.html Thanks!
Thanks so much for watching! I have not tried doing something like that and I'm honestly not even sure if it would work. I think WLED is more for the digital type led strips but I could be wrong. Maybe if someone else is reading and they know for sure they could chime in since I am curious on this myself!
Can u use this controller with strips of different length? Like strip one 30leds strip 2 10 LEDs etc? Or will strip 2 the basicly be filled all the way all the time? Is it reprogramable / customisable is what I mean 😅
I bought the SP107E and ran into this exact problem all my strips are not the same length and no the app does not allow you to change the numbers of LEDs per strip. I am sure there is something out there that does. if anyone knows of one I would love to hear about it.
Great minds think alike! You could do something pretty much the exact same but you would probably need some power injection at least at the end and more than likely the middle. But I would test things out first with no power injection and then go from there. Are you going to use pegboard or just secure everything to the wall?
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! That is a good question. I know the one connector does allow for a lot more led than what I'm using. You could for sure use 2 but I'm not sure if they would be able to be controlled simultaneously if that's what your wondering. I think you would have to go back and forth between the two if that makes sense. You could probably try splitting the data line coming off the controller and using that to hook up 2 different section. Both sections would then be doing the same thing at the same time!
Hi Chris, you seem very knowledgeable about all of this. I would like to know if there is a way to wire an RGBW strip so that it is activated by music in the air or via a 3.5mm plug? Thank you!
I'll keep checking to see if I can find something similar for uk amazon. That's crazy how products vary so much from one country to the next in term s of availability and price! Thanks for the support buddy!
corner lights, led visualizer, and baseboard trim.. how make it all on together ? are you each using three controller at once or only one controller for all ? please..i need that answer, sorry my english bad.. im from jakarta Indonesia, thank u
Thanks so much for watching! For all the projects you mentioned, I'm using a separate controller. For the controllers, i'm using WLED installed on an esp board. My how-to video for that: ua-cam.com/video/TOEnFKLm9Sw/v-deo.html One cool thing about the WLED program is that they have a sync feature that you can control all the lights connected to other controllers on the same wifi network at once. It works great!
That's a good question. I certainly could have but I never thought about doing it that way. That probably would have looked nice! Thanks for the great idea!
Why is the music volume accurate but not the spectrum? Immediately noticed bass/pitch is totally different from the music. Oh, wait, you're using a sp107e, that's why it doesn't have spectrum analyzer... it's just a random animation scaled to volume 😒
Thanks so much! You can add a lot of segments. I'm not exactly sure how many but at some point you will notice the colors start to look off. That means you will have to inject some power around that point so that everything looks good again. How many led's it will take to start noticing the colors are off depends on what power supply you use and how bright you want to run the lights at. Hope that helps!!
You for sure can do the square project soldering your own led strips instead of using the ones I made. The square project was one of the first things I made and I was still very much learning as I went so thats why I used a led strip that could be compared with a govee strip instead of using a ws2812b strip like I do in most of my new projects.
Great design and tutorial! Thank you for posting it. I was thinking of adding some kind of black cloth background on the pegboard. Would you share any suggestions on material type?
does anyone know of a controller that will react to music even if I'm wearing headphones. So the mic cant pics it up and also the Y splitter is not an option this must be fully wireless. Its for a stream room I want this in the background reacting to the music on stream.
Hey Chris, i have one question, isn't 10 ampere power supply too little? I've checked it on btf site and they say 1 led consumes 0.3w, which means for 360 leds basically you will need at least double of the power you have here, can you see a drop in power supply when you turn the leds on at max luminosity ?! by injecting the power from both sides the problem still exists? Kind regards
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I'm more of a trial and error type of tinkerer. I generally test things out with the leds I plan on using and with a much smaller power source than what would typically be recommended and see what happens. If things dont look good, then I add injection or a larger power supply. Now if I were to run this amount of lights at full white and full brightness with no power injection you would for sure see voltage drop. However, in most every project i've done, i never have a need to run them at full white or full brightness so using a much smaller supply generally works out just fine because for pretty much every animation, it looks great since its not drawing near the amount of power needed for full white on full brightness. Now with this number of leds, If I injected power at the end, I'm fairly confident that even at full white and full brightness it would look great but I cant remember for sure If I tested this out. One nice thing about using the wago connectors is how easy it it to add power! Hope that helps a little!
I have been thinking the same about the power. Chris, have you been running this project with the 10A power supply? Have you noticed any issues with it?
It is worth mentioning that the 60amps per LED is only when the LED is on and white. This is rarely the case with a project like this. Though 10amps seems low it likely does a fine job considering the lights are only really using about half of the max power draw
Great project. Loving watching all your videos atm. I'm new to the channel but inspired to try a few of your projects in the new year. Quick question...I can see you recommended possibly injecting more power into parts that look discolored in bigger projects...does that involve installing another ac power source the same as the one you used or is there a different process. Sorry if the question is a little confusing.
Thanks so much for watching and thanks for taking the time to comment! I've never done really big installs so i've still only just used 1 ac power supply for some of the bigger projects I've done. That generally means you can just run separate wires from the power source (same power source that is hooked up to the beginning of the led strip) to the end of the strip (or middle or both) Now depending on the project, it might just be easier to use a separate power supply but if you do that just make sure you cut the strip at some point and only have the 2 sections that are powered by different units connected via the data cable if that makes sense!
@@ChrisMaherDIY thanks Chris. Spent most of the night again watching your projects....Santa won't be happy that I'm asking for a Crickut off him 😆 I'm gonna start off with similar size projects to you anyway so hopefully I don't need to look into additional power. Keep up the great work also. Only recently discovered you but loving the content. So well made 👏 👌
Hi Chris first of all this is just a brilliant channel… thank you , my question is what is the music controller that you use , being in the uk the link brings up something totally different….
Thanks so much for watching buddy and appreciate the support! Its the btf lighting sp107e. I found the link to it on AliExpress: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DlujR33 hope that helps!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Hi Chris , got the link thank you so much , im also going to do a couple more of your lighting effects one being the 4 led panels and possibly the signs …. Only found your channel by chance !
Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate the support my friend! So I wish I could tell you its done automatically but all i'm doing is syncing up all my led lights via WLED (all of your lights that are connected via WLED to the same wifi network can be controlled at once) Then I just quickly change the color which changes all the led lights to match as best as I can to what's on the tv. At some point I want to see if its possible to do this automatically like the hue or govee kits but i'm not sure if it is or if it would work on a projection screen.
Not working for me im running the same setup exept im using 9 strips and im using wire nutz the lights work fine up to the third led strip and then it gets dimmer, the colors change and the the sixth one just has a insanely faint red color can you help? It has the same cord too
Thanks so much for watching! That's a good question! The only thing I could see is that its recommended a max of 960 leds. I have never checked to see if that is in fact the max or what happens past it but my guess is you can probably go a little more than that but performance might suffer at some point.
Great video! Thanks for sharing! The LED Lights link in the video description points to the IP65 type but in the video it looks like you are using IP30. Just wondering if you could clarify if you used IP30 or IP65? Do you know if it is as easier to solder one vs the other once cut?
Thanks for watching and for pointing that out! I'll have to change the link in the morning. I for sure used ip30. Don't have to deal with that rubber coating so it'such easier to get to the pads for soldering. Thanks buddy!
Hmmm how do you think this would look with a frosted glass slide to go over the front of it? Looking to do this project soon, but would like to keep the peg board from standing out.
@@ChrisMaherDIY I don’t have wood working equipment so I can’t feasibly do that idea. Instead I’ll be taking a sheet of plywood, using the pegboard as reference to get aligned holes. Painting the plywood and trim with a high gloss black. I think the black would make it look nice.
On the SP107E manual it says that you need an external power source to run it(as in the power must go to the LED's and the lights), however you didn't do that and I also noticed that your LED strip didn't have the adapter connected to it. Did you remove it?
I'm always surprised at how good things look with little power. I always start out with less power and add it as needed. What saves me is that I really dont have a need for the lights to be on full white which is really the only time I can see a visible drop in voltage. Otherwise during all the animations, they look good to me without needing a ton of power. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Usually, if you don’t care much about the “white” color accuracy, you can get away with a lower amp supply. A good rule is divide the amps “needed” by 3… and that should be enough for most color effects. Example: 21.6 A / 3 = 7.2 A (should be fine).
A led at full white brightness needs around 50mA. So that’s 18amps but he isn’t using full white so it’s only around 9A if all are displaying purple or something similar at 100 brightness
These do not but I'm currently working on a project where I use some sk6812 led lights that have a dedicated white channel. amzn.to/3qO7ycn They are a little more expensive but its nice having that dedicated channel so you don't have to set the rgb to 100% to make white like you do on the ws2812b strips.
Thanks so much for watching! That's very kind of you! Just a fun hobby I do right now but I'll let you know if I every try to sell some of the things I make!
I didn't inject power for this one but if I wanted the lights to be white, you for sure would have noticed some color drop off. But for all the animations, no power injection was needed for it to look great!
I don't have really any experience with using battery powered solution but I'm sure you could. Now as far as what to use and how long they would run the leds for? That unfortunately I'm not sure of. I'm for sure at some point wanting to look into exactly what your wondering so hopefully I'll be able to report back at some point down the road on this topic!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Right now I'm just too busy with my regular job, family and making UA-cam videos here and there to take on anything else. I'll let you know if that ever changed though. Appreciate it buddy!
Thanks for watching! There is a way but I have not tried doing it yet. There are a few tutorials on youtube but none that make it seem super easy. I do have that on the list of projects to try doing in the future!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! That's a bummer. Must not be available in the UK. Maybe try searching for SP107E and see if anything comes up!
Thanks for watching and good question! It does a great job of responding to the music as a vu meter. They also have a section where it will just do animation that does not react to music but the reacting options are a lot more fun.
Well that’s a pretty rad project. I’m kicking around the idea of one for my studio. Thanks for your response! You have some great videos about all this
Hey you make very cool videos. :) i want the Diffuser you are using for my builds but unfortunately the LED Diffuser Channel is not available in Germany. Does anyone have an alternative, which is available in germany? :D
Thanks so much! I wish I could find one that works as well that is available worldwide. Unfortunately I have yet to find one. I'll keep looking though! Maybe someone watching will have a suggestion! Thanks for watching!
Hi Chris nice led project. Two questions the addressable LEDs when fitting are followed by the led arrows so one up then the next down is this correct & if so is this setup in the software to correct this for the vu meter? Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching and that is correct. This controllers software is somehow able to make sense of it all with the one up and next one down configuration of the led strips.
Try this and could not get them to work like that, you connected top to top and bottom to bottom, my setup is basically the same just longer LEDs strips, anything you can think of that I might be doing wrong? using same controller with same leds brand as you, went back to my connection and they all seem correct, also tried with just 2 LEDs strips and nothing ;(
Are you ensuring the data on the cut strips is running in the correct direction, there is physical arrows on the strips that tell you which direction the data is travelling.
Thanks for watching and great question! It is. There is a mic built into the controller that is picking up the environmental sounds. You can also plug directly into a music source via the aux port on the controller.
@@ChrisMaherDIY I will make these too, you got brilliant ideas. Thanks for Sharing, the Corner lights that I have done also turned out very nice, thanks again. ☺️
Thanks as always! Great question. So when you are on regular color mode and adjust the brightness, that will then carry over to the music animations. I don't think I ever had them more than 20% brightness. Anything more than that was just waaaay to bright for my liking.
@@ChrisMaherDIY Thx for the reply, does the controller have a built in mic like govee's one=? or you have to connect the aux cable to your device to play music?
You got it! Mic on the controller but the option to plug directly into music source with aux. Mic on the controller is very responsive. Go with the aux if your in a spot that is going to have a lot of background noise.
Man I'm not even sure! You can try searching on youtube for synthwave music and then see if you can find that same background. I'll try searching myself and send it your way if I find it again!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Don't search to far, its not a huge deal. It sounded really nice and I though you had a song list somewhere buried in your notes. Its all good brother. But other than that, the sound visualizer is amazing. would this setup be possible with the led strips being the full 4 ft length without the cutting and than just adding more 4ft channels?
@@ChrisMaherDIY Of course of course. Do you by any chance know what is the channel limit on the sound driver? (if power to each "3m" led channel is not an issue) As in, limit, like you can have 20, 30, or 100 channels with each having 60 leds in each segment.
@@mmenil1 so I know there will at some point be a limit. I'm not sure what that limit is but at some point the controller would run out of enough memory to process the data. That would for sure be a fun experiment to do!
For materials I'd say it probably cost around $120.00 dollars. Nice thing with the design is if I ever get tired of the design, i can easily move around the diffuser channels and reconnect in the back for a completely different look. Also very simple to swap out the music controller for an esp8266 with wled installed. Thanks for watching!
@@ChrisMaherDIY hey bro check out my replication of ur idea, I love it ua-cam.com/video/ix_ao33hHQY/v-deo.html , I have a question for ya, When u have time hit me up, curious why after I choose a display, it plays then after say 5 mins it goes to just orange lights, is there a line of code that determines duration, second question is wled a way better option? Should I just upload that instead?
Thanks so much for watching! When compared to lets say the Govee Hexa Panels I have, the music reactive is not as accurate as those. However it is still not bad in my opinion and I'm sure there are ways to tweak the settings to make it better but I'm still learning what all the settings do for the sound reactive version of WLED.

So much Cyberpunk vibe coming in your room, love it.
Yes! Huge fan of the cyberpunk vibe! Dont know why but it just looks so cool! Thanks as always!!
wow. that is seriously probably the most well executed designed room of this kind I have seen. nicely done dude
Thanks so much buddy! Glad you liked the video and thanks for the kind words!
I love how you keep coming out with videos all the time!! These vids are amazing I’m trying them all
Hey thanks buddy! Appreciate it and glad you are enjoying them!
Thanks so much! Thats exciting moving to a new place. You will have a blank slate to let your imagination run wild! I'm jealous! lol.
Dude, your speakers and sound are absolutely incredible for the room, what kind of floor speakers are those and are they surround sound?
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I have some Klipsch speakers. They are pretty old but sound great to me as well! Its a 5.1 setup. I'm not sure what model they are but i would say they are on the low end of what Klipsche offers.
Its like looking at my old casset player. I just love it🥰
Yes! I remember my old stereo growing up had some type of music visualizer on the front and this definitely brings back good memories!
I don't think I've seen a video on that tubey looking decoration in the right corner of the room, that thing looks cool!
Great efford and it looks great. The only thing i miss on all of these projects is lights react to frequency rather then volume. So you can see the bass, midd and highs reacting on your "music analyser". Thats what keeping me away from building this sort of stuff.
Dude thank you so much for this video, I just ordered all the parts and I'm super stoked for this build. Also, thank you for providing the part links
Thanks so much for watching and you are very welcome! Thanks for the support buddy and taking the time to comment!
WOW THIS LOOKS FIRE MAN! PUT IT IN MY PROJECT LIST HOPE TO GET IT DONE ASAP NICE JOB
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the video!
Geez Chris! I think this is the best yet. Ii might have to try making this. Great job!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it! Let me know if you end up making something like this and if you have any questions!
Another fantastic video and the way you explain the subject makes it so much easier for me/us to replicate.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it and glad you like the format! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Such a cool simple project.. I've watched all of yours so far but this one will probably be the first one I try 👍
Hey thanks so much! Appreciate you watching my videos and thanks for taking the time to comment. Let me know if you have any questions!
Thats proper tinning good man
Thanks so much! Appreciate the love!
Liked and subscribed - appreciate the clear and concise presentation. I will definitely be checking out your other videos...
Great job! I think I might even try that!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Glad you liked the project!
Wow! What is the thickness of acrylic?
Man, great one again.
I have not even finished your previous project.
I wish i had more time to keep up with you :-)
Thanks buddy! Lol yeah at some point i'm going to run out of ideas lol. Thanks as always for watching and taking the time to comment!
Really liked the wallpaper on the monitor ...which is it ?the lonely bike one
I'm wanting to make one much smaller and as a decal that can be put on the back of a motor helmet. How difficult do you think that would be. I found no alternative so it looks like I'll be doing it myself
Awesome project!! How many more strips of lights do you think you could to this exact setup using the same single power brick??
Hey Chris, love your videos. Would like to try this. I’m trying to get my head around the wiring. I think I get it but do you have a diagram that explains how the lights run in succession?
I would love to have one of these, but i'm unable to do it mep
edit: nvm i'm doing it right now lol
hahahah love the edit! Hopefully it turns out awesome!! Thanks for watching!
So are you broadcasting your music from your phone to both the LED Controller and the speakers in the room?
Does this controller have automatic gain control to keep the animations at good level when volumes change?
Bought the whole kit. Assembled. Only thing I'm feeling challenged with is the controller mic is not great. Any suggestions on how to more effectively get sound into the controller?
Could I attach the LED controller to an LED Curtain instead of strips to save time?
Hey Chris, I tried this out with the Muzata led strip and it wouldn’t connect. Is it possible?
Can you set up to the input of a microphone? instead of listening music each time that you speak on the microphone the led turn on?
Can you do this with the new govee m1 strip? Or something similar? (I’ve seen the new m1 videos you’ve posted)
Thanks so much for watching and great question. I think you could potentially do something similar to this with the m1 but you are limited by the cut points on the strip. I did see that Govee came out with some music bars that look pretty cool that I still want to check out!
Can you do this with 4m length leds?
Please do a video on WLED and how to setup with Alexa! There is not many videos explaining how to do this.
Thats for sure on my to do list! Hopefully I can get around to it one of these days!! Thanks for the great suggestion!
Nice..! Ok so I use the headphone jack of my phone to plug into a vintage 1970s receiver. Being the app is BT will it function while using the headphone jack...?
This is awesome, rather than using this adaptor, is there no way this music reaction can be done with Wled instead?
WLED has a sound reactive version of the software that works really well! Some of the animations are similar! Here is a video I did walking you through getting the WLED sound reactive version set up: ua-cam.com/video/_jZRzWsw8gs/v-deo.html Thanks!
@@ChrisMaherDIY keep up with these amazing videos
It’s awesomeeee! Thank youu
You are very welcome and thanks so much for watching!!
NICE JOB.
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you liked the video!
Chris if you put that on a garage door how can you waterproof it
How come you did not an esp32 as the controller for this project?
Great, beautiful video! I have a question about the led strip, can I also use 5050 leds or only digital leds?
This is CRAZY, I have almost the exact same materials and project idea. But I’ll be doing 10 1m channels. Any advice?
Great minds think alike! You could do something pretty much the exact same but you would probably need some power injection at least at the end and more than likely the middle. But I would test things out first with no power injection and then go from there. Are you going to use pegboard or just secure everything to the wall?
this is awesome! do you know if it’s possible to use 2 connectors at the same time with the app?
Thank you!
damn can't find that diffuser anywhere in the UK did search us nothing available know of an alternative Chris? fab vids keep em coming
My how-to video for that: ua-cam.com/video/TOEnFKLm9Sw/v-deo.html
One cool thing about the WLED program is that they have a sync feature that you can control all the lights connected to other controllers on the same wifi network at once. It works great!
good day! can i wire this in parallel?
You are the greatest
Thanks buddy! Appreciate the support!
Can you do this with waterproof LEDs?
Nice why didn't you extend diffuser to cover the wires?
That's a good question. I certainly could have but I never thought about doing it that way. That probably would have looked nice! Thanks for the great idea!
Why is the music volume accurate but not the spectrum? Immediately noticed bass/pitch is totally different from the music. Oh, wait, you're using a sp107e, that's why it doesn't have spectrum analyzer... it's just a random animation scaled to volume 😒
Thanks so much for watching! That is my understanding. Is there anything else out there that does both that you are aware of?!
Wow! Thanks for sharing this DIY, is it posible to add more led segments or up to how many is it posible with the power adapter?
Thanks so much! You can add a lot of segments. I'm not exactly sure how many but at some point you will notice the colors start to look off. That means you will have to inject some power around that point so that everything looks good again. How many led's it will take to start noticing the colors are off depends on what power supply you use and how bright you want to run the lights at. Hope that helps!!
I was looking at your square led panel project. And I am wondering if I can solder the led strips.
Thanks for watching and great question. I'm personally not aware of one but maybe someone else reading this might know and can chime in!
@@ChrisMaherDIY I found the answer shortly after look into LedFX its open source and runs on any esp device you can even sync multiple lights.
Do you have to leave the app open or can you set it and forget it? Thanks. Great vids
Thanks so much! Great question. You don't need to leave the app open.
Awesome video. How did you sinc the visualizer with the other corner lights, etc?
Muito lindo , aqui escrito do brazil
Thanks so much! Thanks for the support all the way from Brazil!
Yes they are. I have search everywhere for answers. Need help!
Hi Chris, I'm new to your channel and I love it. Pls can you tell how are all these lights syncing with your TV?
Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate the support my friend! So I wish I could tell you its done automatically but all i'm doing is syncing up all my led lights via WLED (all of your lights that are connected via WLED to the same wifi network can be controlled at once) Then I just quickly change the color which changes all the led lights to match as best as I can to what's on the tv. At some point I want to see if its possible to do this automatically like the hue or govee kits but i'm not sure if it is or if it would work on a projection screen.
Do you know if the controller can get the music source from a DAW like Ableton?
Ahh man that I'm not sure on. I'll let you know if I find out the answer but that's a great question!
Not working for me im running the same setup exept im using 9 strips and im using wire nutz the lights work fine up to the third led strip and then it gets dimmer, the colors change and the the sixth one just has a insanely faint red color can you help? It has the same cord too
How many segments can that controller run?
Thanks so much for watching! That's a good question! The only thing I could see is that its recommended a max of 960 leds. I have never checked to see if that is in fact the max or what happens past it but my guess is you can probably go a little more than that but performance might suffer at some point.
Do you recommend this controller? Or athom controller with sound and wled reaction. For equalizer?
Great video! Thanks for sharing! The LED Lights link in the video description points to the IP65 type but in the video it looks like you are using IP30. Just wondering if you could clarify if you used IP30 or IP65? Do you know if it is as easier to solder one vs the other once cut?
Thanks for watching and for pointing that out! I'll have to change the link in the morning. I for sure used ip30. Don't have to deal with that rubber coating so it'such easier to get to the pads for soldering. Thanks buddy!
Hello my LED has R G B 1.2 Which color goes to which color on Music LED Controller
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm not sure what RGB 1.2 means. Can you elaborate?
Hmmm how do you think this would look with a frosted glass slide to go over the front of it? Looking to do this project soon, but would like to keep the peg board from standing out.
Frosted glass would actually probably make it look super cool and unique! That's a great idea!!
@@ChrisMaherDIY also I love your videos and ideas. Definitely want to do the vinyl and acrylic leds if I can ever get the proper equipment.
@@King_Kato Thats a great idea and I also think the black would look nice!!
On the SP107E manual it says that you need an external power source to run it(as in the power must go to the LED's and the lights), however you didn't do that and I also noticed that your LED strip didn't have the adapter connected to it. Did you remove it?
Looks like you have a total of 360 leds, are 10 amps really enough to power this thing? I feel like it should be more like 20 amps
@@ChrisMaherDIY Thanks for the info!
Hey Chris, great video. Do these LED’s have a white light? I’m not seeing the white channel.
These led strip doesn't have a dedicated white channel, however you can set 100% in R G and B channel to make it look white
You got it! 100% correct. If you do want the individual white leds, i've had good luck with these: amzn.to/3qO7ycn
Hello how much you want to sell this board you made I’m in Arizona
Thanks so much for watching! That's very kind of you! Just a fun hobby I do right now but I'll let you know if I every try to sell some of the things I make!
can you make that say 125 inches wide without it losing any function bc the signal is traveling longer distance. thanks!
You can definitely make it pretty much as wide as you want and It will function just as good!
Did you inject power with this project?
I didn't inject power for this one but if I wanted the lights to be white, you for sure would have noticed some color drop off. But for all the animations, no power injection was needed for it to look great!
Is this project something that could be battery powered?
I don't have really any experience with using battery powered solution but I'm sure you could. Now as far as what to use and how long they would run the leds for? That unfortunately I'm not sure of. I'm for sure at some point wanting to look into exactly what your wondering so hopefully I'll be able to report back at some point down the road on this topic!
awesome work as usual! have you tried sp 511e controller?
Thanks buddy! I have not yet tried that controller but I definitely want to at some point. What are some of the advantages to using that?!
@Chris Maher would you be interested in making one to sell?

Hello is there a way to make a WLED board sound reactive?
Thanks for watching! There is a way but I have not tried doing it yet. There are a few tutorials on youtube but none that make it seem super easy. I do have that on the list of projects to try doing in the future!
Thank you for the reply I can’t wait to see it your channel is amazing!
Link for the controller doesn't work in the uk?
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! That's a bummer. Must not be available in the UK. Maybe try searching for SP107E and see if anything comes up!
Chris, does this respond to music as as a VU meter? Or is it just an animation?
Is this reacting on environmental sound?
Thanks for watching and great question! It is. There is a mic built into the controller that is picking up the environmental sounds. You can also plug directly into a music source via the aux port on the controller.
@@ChrisMaherDIY I will make these too, you got brilliant ideas. Thanks for Sharing, the Corner lights that I have done also turned out very nice, thanks again. ☺️

Thanks so much for watching and I'll put that on my list of projects I would like to do sometime!
U don't sell them? lol... Also remember the one with the lines like the monitor at the hospital
Great job Chris !!! it looks soo sexy..btw , can you dimmer the leds in music mode presets or is possibile only in regular color mode?
Thanks as always! Great question. So when you are on regular color mode and adjust the brightness, that will then carry over to the music animations. I don't think I ever had them more than 20% brightness. Anything more than that was just waaaay to bright for my liking.
@@ChrisMaherDIY Thx for the reply, does the controller have a built in mic like govee's one=? or you have to connect the aux cable to your device to play music?
How big is the board?
Thanks so much for watching! The pegboard I used is 2 feet by 4 feet.
@@ChrisMaherDIY thank you
Just curious, how does the controller get its input, is there a mic on board or would I need to play something using a Bluetooth source
Hahaha nvm, it looks like you get Aux, on board mic, or Bluetooth options for the audio source.
You got it! Mic on the controller but the option to plug directly into music source with aux. Mic on the controller is very responsive. Go with the aux if your in a spot that is going to have a lot of background noise.
What song did you use at 8:59 ?
Man I'm not even sure! You can try searching on youtube for synthwave music and then see if you can find that same background. I'll try searching myself and send it your way if I find it again!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Don't search to far, its not a huge deal. It sounded really nice and I though you had a song list somewhere buried in your notes. Its all good brother. But other than that, the sound visualizer is amazing. would this setup be possible with the led strips being the full 4 ft length without the cutting and than just adding more 4ft channels?
@@mmenil1 that should work perfect! Although these perticupar channels are 1 meter in length.
How much did this cost you?

😍😍😍🔥👌🏻
Thanks!!
Pretty sure those values are fake, they don't seem to line up with the music much at all.
