A few years back, I repackaged a bunch of these Frontier Soup mixes for long-term storage. I used scissors make a small cut at the top edge of each clear plastic bag, left each original label in place, dropped several of these soup mix packages into a one-gallon Mylar bag, added an oxygen absorber and heat-sealed the Mylar bag after pressing out the excess air. Used a piece of painter's tape and a Sharpie marked to label each Mylar bag with contents and date sealed. I also made sure to have a #10 can of tomato powder, a can of butter powder and some pouches of freeze-dried beef and chicken in my long-term food storage so I could add the needed additional ingredients when making these soups. Also have dehydrated some canned tomato salsa and tomatillo sauce (both look like fruit leather when fully dried) and packaged these in Mylar bags along with oxygen absorbers, so I have the option of adding either of these to homemade soup if I like.

Thank you for another wonderful video! A lot of us think of Bear Creek when it comes to dry soup. I’ve tried Bear Creek’s chicken Tortilla and their minestrone. Here comes my negative comment: the soups tasted okay but the broth looked thin/brown and tasted “ flat”. Luckily I had cans of DT veggies in my pantry and they saved the day.
I’m definitely going to try Frontier Soups. 🙂 Yes. I will appreciate anything if I’m hungry but I was hoping for a bit of yum. 🤷🏽♀️

These 3 sound so very good! Healthy, fresh, non GMO. Nothing artificial. Gluten free. No high sodium added. The only improvement I can think of, is if it came in Organic. Options. I am looking into their products. T.Y. Alaskan Granny. How r u doing?

Those soups sound great, and how fun that you got to try them. I am a huge fan of the Frontier Split Pea soup mix. I picked up a bag on a whim one day a couple years back, and quite a splurge at the time ($8-9). I made it as is, without adding in any of their suggestions. I found that it tasted really good. So good that it made me rethink my own split pea recipe.
In other preparations, I have played around with it-- have added chopped ham (like canned ham from preps) as a topper, or bacon, or whatever I had on hand. Since I like the base flavor so much, anything I "add" to it is presented as a topper. Big ole hunk of bread pairs well. Really fresh tasting soup, so I imagine their other options are similar.

Love your videos, AG! But I wonder a little about the Frontier Soup's packaging . Why is there that unnecessary brass grommet at the top of the pouch? It must add to the expense, and serves no obvious purpose. LOVE your vids, and keep 'em coming, please!! ❤❤❤
I believe the grommet would allow the package to hang from a peg.

Thanks for your take on the Frontier soup. Since you have a couple of each type, wonder what they would be like all on their own without extras...just water (or stock of you have it) added. Would it be good enough all on its own with nothing else added if conserving your pantry stock reserves. Might be a good test..how good is the soup all on its own without extras? If you unfortunately find yourself in that type of place of having to conserve or just plain being without the other stuff.

I have made their Split Pea Soup Mix just as is with nothing else added to it, and it was great. It is because of this that I find myself buying it on occasion (a bit of a splurge for me). I have taken cut up ham and served it as a topper or on the side with bread. But I didnt want to infuse the soup with the flavor of ham or bacon becuase the actual base soup was simply quite tasty as is. Maybe the other soups are like that? I havent tried any of the others yet.
Cool. It has to be better than the dried soup packages in those 30 day buckets from the survival food companies.
Knorr SOPA is cheap but has a lot of salt.
Bear Creek has weird varieties that just do not work for me.

Question: Frontier Soup says “no artificial ingredients” on their package but they don’t mention bioengineered items. Do you think that“ nothing artificial “ means free of bioengineered ingredients? BTW: The Bear Creek soup packaging has the “ contains bioengineered ingredients “ label on the back. Just an FYI. 🙂

I think most people would use them like an MRE: for backpacking, in RV's, for electrical outages (perhaps rehydrated in a thermos).
