If you watch the video to their song "Why Don't You Get a Job?" (also very hilarious) you can see homeboy make another appearance. BTW the lead singer has a PhD in molecular biology (for real).
Second, and I didn't know those facts, thanks.
The guy also made an appearance on stage at an Offspring concert doing his dance in the same outfit when this song was being played. Just saw it the other day
in every reaction vid from that song someone says that 😆😅
@@grauerstarr hey man, somebody had to do it. I don't make the rules. 🤣 Plus it's fun to watch people not familiar w/ the song react to the first few lines. It's nearly universally the same & it never gets less funny.
yeah I think he has more college degrees as well
The Offspring is one of the best bands to come from the 90s. No doubt about it. Fucking badass music…
Not to mention Dexter Holland did his Ph.D thesis on HIV research. His degree is in Molecular Biology.
@@Newtonsenigma love
my favorite band
I saw them in concert back in August. AMAZING!!
The Offspring have a genuine talent for using humor to talk about very real subjects that apply in any time period. They are that sarcastic friend that makes you laugh and think at the same time. They have a mountain of hits. Self Esteem, and two of their more serious jams The Kids Aren't Alright and Gone Away are great choices. Their videos are usually a great part of the story too.
U are correct - the intro "Gunter gleebin glaubin globin..." was sampled from Def Leppard's 1983 hit 'Rock of ages'... Weird Al Yankovic did a parody of this song as 'Pretty fly for a rabbi'... Another great Offspring song is "Why don't you get a job?"... also check out 'Original prankster' (feat. Redman)
Guy has delusions of being cool, and turns every diss he gets into signs of acceptance.
Happy Easter and have a great day!
i’m 43 years old. Geez, i remember this song in college. lol. it was a banger at that time
God...in the 90s, we had a LOT of these people. These suburb born rich white guys who wanted to act like they were black and gangster. And this song called them out beautifully. xD It's awesome that you noticed the meaning of the song. Some reactors...I swear it goes right over their head.
Often refered to as wiggers.
The Offsprin was mainly known in Latiamerica for "Come Out And Play" :-) A really big hit!
Regards from Chile! :-)
Actually in Brazil they were always huge in the rock scene, with many songs. But they definitely went more popular when the album Americana was released.
That's the actual title of this song
Totally underrated, serious musicians who don't take themselves too seriously.💖💖💖
I love the offspring, along with Greenday they ushered in the pop punk/mainstream punk movement in the 90s. Around 1994 as the big grunge bands started to fade a bit due to touring troubles, breakups, suicides(Cobain😮💨) and as post grunge bands popped up Pop punk became huge as well. Folks trading in jeans, long hair, and flannel for cargo shorts and colorful spiked hair. Lol naw it wasn't that abrupt but still it marked the start of a new trend. Pretty fly is from the album Americana which is a classic. The offspring actually released a really good album in 2021 . You should listen to Let The Bad Times Roll. It has great lyrics. It's one of the best rock songs of 2021
How can you even compare greenday? Greenday are fucking awful. Offspring are legendary
@@robs715 I didn't compare them, I just mentioned them in the same statement because it is true that thise bands hit the mainstream around the same time and brought punk to a bigger stage and platform than it had been earlier in the 90s. That being said they are both legendary bands. But I won't talk about the individual quality of their records because that's not what I had originally commented to do
@@gamexsimmonds3581 greenday suck balls. It’s that simple 😂
Fan fact, Lead singer Dexter Holland spends his spare time researching a cure for AIDS. In March 2013, Holland and co-authors published a paper in PLoS One regarding microRNA in HIV genomes, titled "Identification of Human MicroRNA-Like Sequences Embedded within the Protein-Encoding Genes of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus"
Offspring classics : self esteem, come out and play, the kids aren't alright
*The Offspring have some really good songs. I did a search and didn't see a reaction for you for their song "Self Esteem." The Offspring formed in the 80s, but the first song of theirs, I heard on the Radio was Self Esteem from their 1994 album "Smash."*
The Offspring is one of my favorite bands and I was lucky enough to see them play in 97.
I still smile at this, and I love it. So much fun!
the band actually gave up the rights to all their songs to charity and then the lead singer became a genetics scientist and is one of the top scientists working on a cure for AIDS.
🤘😎OFFSPRING🤘😎 Rockin Denver Colorado USA 4-30-22. 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
OK I'm sold! Our guy remembers the intro in Def Leppard's Rock of Ages
This was a fun reaction. I was excited when it popped up in my list. Such a trippy song, but so Catchy and fun and actually quite a jam.
I remember road trips with my kids. I'd put this on and all five of my young kids would sing it at the top of their lungs. I was shook that they knew all the lyrics.
I loved this song when it came out, because a bunch of my friends were trendies. Eent from metalheads to hip-hop heads, because it was the new thing. I stayed the same because I am not a trendy. They dressed like the guy in the video, too. I related to the message so much. I would always laugh at them, and they just started calling me "Longhair".
Great reaction.
If you have time, please check out "Come Out And Play" by these guys. It's got a great beat and bass line. Much more of a serious message.
Oh man, the bars in Virginia Beach went crazy on that and "Been Caught Stealin" by Jane's Addiction....
@@bertjohnson401 love "Been Caught Stealing" 😊
@@BeboRulz That video is BONKERS
@@bertjohnson401 right?!!? 😂😂😂
It is all about someone trying to fit in somewhere they don't. Just be yourself.
The saddest part is that Weird Al never made a video for his spoof of this song...Pretty Fly for a Rabbi...
When I joined the after-school rock-band program my kids were in- as an instructor - in '98-9, Offspring's 'Self-Esteem', Green Day's 'Good Riddance', Chumbawumba's 'Tubthumping', Blur's 'Song 2' and No Doubt's 'Don't Speak' were the most popular songs, along with the Beatles' 'Twist and Shout.'
I suggest the following Offspring songs: Gotta Get Away, Self Esteem & Come Out And Play
Also Genocide and Bad Habit please... ;)
This song resonates with me on a deep primal level
During a show they brought that kidding live on stage for the song
Favorite Offspring song is The Kids Aren't Alright
5:43. Thats some Mortal Kombat shit from the 90's. I love 90's so much, my younghood.
Another CLASSIC. ✌️
I remember when this song came out. I was like 17 years old. Used to watch it while working out.
Gone Away is the best of many fantastic Offspring songs (Self Esteem, The Kids Aren't Alright, Come Out And Play). Get going on this band.
Love this one
Offspring is part of the divine trinity of punk, with blink 182 and Green day
I swear I've seen that dude every day for the last 25 years, but it's never the same dude.
Back in my college dayz, this song was a hit.
As a pop-punk band, the Offspring have a lot of social commentary in their songs. Sometimes it's done with humor, like this or a lot of their anti-drug songs like Mota or What in the World Happened to You. Other times it's dark sarcasm like "Come out and Play." If you want REALLY raw and scathing you can go back an listen to something like LAPD, though you may need to do a little editing on that particular track...
Haven't heard this song in forever, maybe at a party. Ricki Lake the actress, whatever she is now, use to have a talk show. Happy Easter . You're pretty fly for a reaction channel .
Offspring "Get a Job" & Alien Ant Farm "Smooth Criminal" (an homage to MJ)
Now you need to react to "Prett fly for a Rabbi" by Weird Al
offspring you gotta keep 'em seperated
Aka Keep em separated.
Hells yea!
"Come out and play" is a must from the Offspring
Offspring Gone away is a great song👍
Exactly what you said! You always say you feel me! Ya feel me ya feel me. Your that fly black guy. He's talking about you bro
I was glad to see you checked it out! They are an awesome band, plus this song has a lot of 90s jokes that you might not have understood... For example the one about those posers only being good for Ricki lake and Jerry Springer shows...
90's music was creative as hell
For some reason, reactions to this song has been popping up in my feed and you're the only one who got the callback to the Def Leppard part. Rock on.
If you are 80's kid, you know Mortal Kombat :D
Love this track and video and it brings me back to 8th grade when it came out
Will always love this one!
The Offspring- Get A Job
It kinda cracks me up that nobody picks up on the Riki lake reference
You got to do hammerhead, get a job or the kids aren't alright
4:25 - 4:37 best part of the video
They are counting off the beat numbers in different languages.
"Makes up in denial"
Great reaction! This was a lot of fun! Please react to The Offspring "why don't you get a job" next! You will love it!
The Kids aren't Alright is their best song
Not the first time saying numbers in Spanish. At the end of "Out On Patrol" Dex says "uno dos tres cuatro!"
You should listen/react to Weird Al doing Pretty Fly for a Rabbi.
Self Esteem is my favorite one by them!
This makes me wanna see y'all react to Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" video LOL.
🤣🤣🤣 That shit has been going on for sooooo many years. This goes perfectly in hand with white folks these days is called “blackccent”
The had to pay Def Leppard $10,000 just for the intro audio. The "white guy" was an actor hired to play the part, Guy Cohen. Their first choice was Seth Green, but he was busy. The whole song is "making fun of whitebread kids from Montana" who think they're from Compton. The whole song is parody, and it was a huge hit when it was originally released. I had forgotten how funny this was.
Finally! This band is talented and funny
"Ya Know Im Sayin."
Whatever you think about the subject matter, the video accomplished what it set out to do... put a smile on your face!
Love this song, so catchy!!
i saw them in Atlantic City Beach it definitely was a vibe. Watch some Sum41 videos their excellent as well
4:35 he says "uno dos tres cuatro cinco cinco seis", what means "one two three four five five six" in spanish
Man I can't help it...
You feel like you've heard it.
Bruh, otherwise you would have to live under a rock.
Imma borrower your words if ya don't mind.I definitely mess with the Off Spring.
lol counting the counts 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, start playing this count. i am pretty fly for a white guy.
Also, check out "Come out and play" by the Offspring! Great video!
Yo man they were out here in LA at Sofi stadium a year or 2 ago. Their shows still Crack to this day. Circle pit of the year. They got so many 🔥 tracks.
Well done. Too funny. The reference to "Ricki Lake", in the song: years ago it was a craptastic day time talk show where losers went on with their problems. Ricki Lake being the show host.
You don't need to ask us if we feel you! 50 times. Your smarter than that bro. Your pretty fly for a black guy.
The lead singer is actually a neuroscientist or something in that region very intelligent guy
Close - he has a Ph.D. in molecular biology.
@@woodchuk1 yeah that same guy
awesome!
Awesome... "Uno dos três quatro cinco cinco seis" means "One two three four five five six" in spanish.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
It says "in his own mind he's the dopest". So I say go ahead boy! If it makes you happy🖕🏼what anyone else thinks.
This Is a Crackn Tune
good old song
Love the reaction
Love it!
yall do amazing reactsnew nubscriber n a new fan
New challenge - spend 1 min talking without saying "y'know what I'm saying" haha
4:30, when you ask, what is up with that shit? is just counting in Spanish, "uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, cinco, seis" this is 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6
Don't forget ALIEN ANT FARM..... Smooth Criminal, Micheal Jackson song
Check out Weird Al's White and Nerdy, Amish Paradise and Hardware Store. All are really impressive and just fantastic.
Child memories
I know,as someone who grew up in the hood ghetto being a goth skater punk metalhead outcast bisexual who was also in the local hip hop club every weekend in the mid 90’s , posers like this made it harder for people like me and I had to be extra hard, I definitely left some guys in the restroom after busting their heads into the toilet because they were being a bigot because I was wearing nail polish and makeup or because some of the girls liked my look and they got jealous so they started 💩and I didn’t back down, so I would lay them out because I’ve studied martial arts since I was young and then dip out unnoticed, I also always had my cousins and their friends who were gangstas so I always had back up too if I was outnumbered
Do My Chemical Romance...Welcome to the Black Parade
It doesn't look like you guys have checked out Sublime yet. It's worth a listen. Their biggest hit is "What I Got."
you should react to the video for Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne.
Great catch on the intro being from Def Leppard
If you can, please react to Evil from Interpol, a great band from New York, you won’t regret!
Regards from Monterrey, México, you’re awesome guys!!!
Я обожаю эту песню 💞😍И вы супер крутые 😁
"Why don't you get a job" should always be the next reaction after this song as long as you watch the video.
