~Corrections~ This is apparently called a "turn around special" not a "B-Reverse" so thank you for all that left a comment to correct me! Still, I hope you were all able to find this video useful! The input for this can be kind of tricky and strict and I highly recommend you practice it in training mode on both the left and right side. It took me awhile to get used to it myself so don't give up if you can't get it right away! I have a "How to Play Sonic" playlist on my channel if you're interested in any other Sonic guide videos. Thanks for watching!
@@RadiaUmbra B-reversing shifts your momentum to the opposite direction while a turn around keeps it but faces the opposite way. They have different inputs and applications of using them. Thats why they are different.
What Clockworck does here is a Reverse Special command, which works with nearly all characters's neutral special attacks. It indeed is one way to reverse homing attack, but you can also do it by turning your stick left (or the opposite direction you're facing while you press B) right after pressing B, which is a special input wavebounce. This last command can be used with all characters's special attacks (all variants) and it completely reverses your momentum, and it's actually simpler than the Reverse Special attack since you won't be accidentally inputing a side-B
Holy Crap, this tutorial Clockwork was AMAZING!! Like I've heard B-Reversing with Sonic is vital to his kit, but being able to B-Reverse Homing Attack into a B-Air & B-Reverse the Homing Attack, to head below the stage to recover is extremely flexible. Thanks for the incredible tutorial ma dude.
This is ABSOLUTELY a game changer... This is what I was waiting for. If you master this your edge guard improves A LOT... Thanks bro, definitely gonna practice this one all night long
You forgot to mention turnaround homing attack sends sonic to the opponent after the hit unlike regular homing attack which sends him away. This can lead to a down air spike if they air dodge in.
I never miss one video of your videos. Thank you so much for all of them. I always feel happy with them because it shows how good Sonic is. My first main is Sonic and I'm always trying to improve him and where I live, I'm the 2 second player that use Sonic ^^" He is my baby and I'm not going to change him.
I do this all this all the time without thinking about it, thanks for the vid im gonna use it a lot more now. another tip for sonic mains, if you connect a homing attack on an opponent who is shielding you can air dodge out danger. Keep it up Clockwork.
I just wanna say thank you so much for all these videos your making, when I first ever saw your channel was your first sonic montage and you inspired me to start playing sonic and right now he’s a secondary and maybe after time a main and these guides are really really helpful so thanks so much 😃 Your the best 👍 keep up the good work
Hmmmm I asked this question on 2 videos and he comes out with this tutorial very soon after 🤔 Honestly I haven't played Sonic in forever and kind of suck with him now because I've been getting lots of different characters into elite smash but I'll surely get the hang of this when i get back to where i was before thanks!
This was very useful, thank you so very much! Funny thing is I had a general idea of what to do, but I always ended up side-specialing instead. XD Anyway, thx for the tutorial, time to train!
@@a.gss7714 thing is that sonic homing attack actually can't even b reversed. You have to do turnaround. You can get results from b reversing a spindash but not homing attack. What happens is that the homing attack will register your b button and start charge but the direction pressed will not since he's already in position. You're literally forced to stay facing forward. By turnaround instead, the game registers you're facing backward and then pressing b like other turnaround specials.
@@a.gss7714 no they dont do the same thing and sonics neutral special isnt the best to show this. There is a video "my smash corner" made a long time ago in smash 4 about b reverse and turn around special. Basically b reverse shifts your momentum into the opposite direction and face the other way while turn around special keeps your momentum in the same direction but just makes you face the other way. I highly recommend you to watch the video cuz its honestly great and has a lot of details and good explanations. Edit: heres the link ua-cam.com/video/Vw1elkJwtDo/v-deo.html Note that wavebouncing is also another mechanic which is basically a combination of turn around special and b reverse
What I'd recommend is flicking it twice one you do the single jump in midair. It's pretty finnicky with just one but if you do two, I was able to get it consistently
So I'm no expert.. but I've been just doing the RAR and then homing attack and that works too. I thought this was what you were doing to begin with anyway :p
Sonic in the previous versions, in appearance, is WAY different. You can also practice using a Brawl disc, and with a Wii/Wii U, then use Smash Ultimate.
For me, despite being able to B-reverse most characters neutral-b's, Sonic's I found a bit strange. For me, the timing wasn't the same as other B-reverses, and I found myself doing a spindash instead of a homing attack most of the time. What I found to work for me, was to input the homing attack first, and then the direction change. It's still not super consistent for me, but I found it more reliable than the directional input followed by B method, and found myself spindashing incorrectly less.
So I've practiced this a lot and I know exactly how to do it, but half the time it isn't registering me doing it and he does the attack normally, anyone else having this issue?
Can we get a video on how to minimize Sonic’s Homing Attack Lag? I swear this this one friend of mine who plays Sonic better than I do and he seems to always get out Homing Attack End lag pretty quick! Of course I do 100% believe it truly is impossible to delay or minimize a Missed HA cuz it’s 70 frames of total BS lol but IS there a way to minimize a missed HA at least on shield? I want a tutorial on how to auto cancel with Sonic!:)
So this is technically a turn around special not a B reverse right? Because you flick the stick before hitting B to initiate homing attack. Is that correct?
Can you, are somebody else explain how he did this move: ua-cam.com/video/Hrq35anc_94/v-deo.html There was no time to do a turn around homing attack here, right? Then I would expect it to be out of a quick pivit spin dash, but I don't hear to spin dash sound.. soo... how did he do it?
@clockwork BTW this isn't a B-Reverse this is a reverse B, there is a difference. You can see here ua-cam.com/video/Vw1elkJwtDo/v-deo.html this applies to ultimate.

I was finna say😂
I call it a b switch, im weird I know
Can you still at least change the title?
People will still call it a B reverse from the title alone.
I've heard people calling it both and I think they are both correct honestly

I wasn't think about 'sonic needs b reverse', as homing attack is always auto shot and going straight to enemy-
Thanks for teach me new thing :)

No he didn’t
If any Sonic mains rarely spike their opponents then this is another option. Thanks Clockwork im gonna give this a shot now
down b> b reverse homing attack> bair is a kill setup at around 45% to 75%. same thing with side b. (depends on character. can also catch jumps.)
Thank you. I've been mastering Sonic's B reverse, but I don't know when I can use it. You are the best.
Can't wait to see you do this in tournament. 😍
Okay, sweet, I was always wondering how you did in videos, thank you so much clockwork for this vid.
YO IS THAT BACK 2 BACK PLAYING. THAT SONG AND WATER PALACE ARE MY FAVORITE RUSH STAGE/SONG AND I CONSIDER IT ONE OF THE BEST STAGE/SONGS IN THE SERIES
Finely! I was trying to figure out how to do this for a very very long time!
Thank you for doing this video 😁
These videos are really helping me out. As someone who picked Sonic up earlier this year, these videos are helping me master him pretty quickly.
This tutorial will make another fine addition to my collection of being a sonic main 🦔💨
I've wanted to see if this was possible for ages, EXCELLENT Guide thanks so much!
I love that your Sonic videos bring back Sonic Rush bops especially Back to Back

Thank you for you for this guide video! This knowledge is really helpful.

It's just a turn-around Homing Attack, not a B-reverse btw haha
keep up the good guides! ^^

B reverse: B then stick
Turn around special: stick then B

Question how do I use b reverse homing attack on a weird controller?
Thanks teacher!
*I am a sonic fan*
Wow... so cool...
Is the flick before the first b click or between the first and the second b click?
Watashi ga kita first I think
Good enough though i think it would be better to do it on lower percents.
2 questions: does this work on Smash 4 and can we instead press the b button then flick the control stick to the opposite direction?

I’m late to the video. I was just...too...slow... 😔
Also I don’t how I didn’t think of b-reversing into back air before you sir have the galaxy brain
I have a combo I use with sonic where I spindash and then use homing attack while there in the air
Does this apply for older versions
is there a way to consistently land reverse homing attack to Bair? I've labbed it so much but can't seem to get it right
I'm trying it rn, however I keep doing side b in the air instead of neutral b. Got any tips?
It's so hard to do!! Every time I try to do it it always leads me to forward air
is sonic able to do another homing attack if the first one hits ?
Isn't this just common technique that can be used by basically everyone? Was this necessary?
i guess there are different versions of the game cuz bair will not connect no matter what percent i try it at
