Thank you, Karl! I know you've stated that the "history" episodes don't get anywhere near the views of things like mud tests or crazy weird shot show disasters. But please know these are deeply appreciated. The History Channel is clickbait, manufactured drama, and jump cuts. You have a natural gift to take historical events, make them come alive, and make viewers not only entertained but learn something in the process. Your passion for the subject material comes through but it's also clear that you take great care as a historian to present as neutral and unbiased a presentation as possible, a breath of fresh air. Especially during a pandemic when many people can't travel or vacation and visit as much as they would like, content like this is truly appreciated more than ever.
    Thank you!

From a distant cousin of "The U.S. Marshall Wyatt Earp Brothers and The Immortals, with Dirty Doc Holidayin.' " Yes I also enjoy Kurt Russell's "Tombstone" movie and Val Kilmer's performance with the rest. There are several premeditated false fiction branches in it thought. Uncanny how close they got many of the faces to match the original people though. Kevin Costner's "Wyatt Earp" movie had far more real history packed in. There is a 14 hour documentary out there on the Earps that has far more history than Costner. Dennis Quaid's Doc Holiday was far more accurate and looked more like him. It showed more of his bad side, part mean drunk fighter. Russell and Costner were in a horse raise to release their movie first for more earnings, earlier. Because second place might be worn out of Earp interest $market. Watch Costner's Wyatt Earp at least twice. It is more complex and more locations. Some Tombstone entertainment fiction :
Doc didn't shoot Johnny Ringo. Doc was in another states court room trial same day as Ringo's death.
A documentary showed it was either suicide, or an Earp Ally. Likely the later because Ringo had stuffed
his pants cuffs in his boots, to take a nap. That trick avoids scorpions crawling in your boots and poison stinging you. I don't know if tests to see if the death bullet was Ringo's caliber or another?
Cowboy gang did not wear red sash's at the mid section. Russell script was imitating Crypts and Bloods modern blue and red crime gang bandanas, to make it easy to see who the bad guys were.
Wyatt goodbye to Doc Holiday wasn't all friendly. Doc wanted Josephine for himself. She and Wyatt wanted each other. Doc said "You two Jews go screw yourselves !!" In a love triangle dispute temper.
Marshall Fred White shooting death didn't happen the Russell way. Many other differences. Our family for generations had to stay quiet about Earp Cousins, because they still had too many enemies. Though most sided with Union Army part Civil War Yankee Veteran Earps. Many sided with Confederate Leaning, road thief, cattle thief, stage coach thief, home thief, government mule thief, Mexican War re starting Cowboy Gang. If the U.S. Marshall Earp team didn't win, U.S. Army was going to finish the Cowboys gang, even though they also had some lawless officers siding with them. As a Brazilian, I must say that this "mythology" created around real events is important because it helps to perpetuate people's interest in their own history and in a way preserves even the true facts. Here in Brazil we have very little of this, and therefore few know its past.
We also had our "wild west", but due to the lack of films and books we ended up being interested in the "west" of others.

One day people will talk about Drug Cartels the same way that we talk about Vikings. To some extent it's already happened with the mafia of the nineteen hundreds. Dark ages or interesting times, whatever you want to call them are always mythologized. I don't think that it's an issue as long as we don't get so wrapped up in the fantasy that we forget the harsh reality.

@inönu I don't think that's entirely true, Dime Westerns were huge in the late 19th century; life in the west was romanticized in the east while it was happening. There was a bit of a disconnect, because the romanticization did occur in the relatively settled and developed regions of the country, not so much in the west itself, but it's not a product of nostalgia, it's something far more ingrained into the American spirit and ethos.

We did shows every Saturday and there was a neat little history lesson before each show. He'd talked about the history of Willcox, or Maley's Camp as I think it was known then. He'd also talked about Geronimo and him getting his supplies from the general trade store, and the fight that killed Warren and just about anything else that involved the town. Warren was buried in an unmarked grave, but it isn't "unmarked" as some might think. Great content as usual Karl

You forgot TOS "Spectre of the Gun"
Kidding aside.... because of my interest for guns, UA-cam recommended Ian to me; i was like "Cool, guns in historical context"
Then, from there, i found InRangeTV, which made it better, and Bloke on the Range
You guys just rock! Instead of other UA-camrs, you don't compete (except friendly on the range) who knows better, you are a team! Please continue that way!
    Greetings from Victorinox Land! ;-)

I got to perform in a group called The Men Of The West which was Rex Sr.'s backup band. "Father", as Rex liked to be called was quite an interesting person. It was quite an experience to work shows with him. I later performed with The Dodge City Four which was the backup band for Ken Curtis, better known as Festus of Gunsmoke. One of best jobs I ever had.

We stayed in Wilcox a few times in our travels through Arizona in our Motor Home pulling my little Jeep behind, and that song brings back memories of when I was a fan of country music before being shipped over to Vietnam for a year back in 1970, when I came home all sense of country music was buried in my past because of the intense exposure to the rock and roll that play in the background of the war and the barracks. I still enjoy country music from the 50's but rock from the 60s and 70s play in my home on many days when I want some tunes to take me back to the good old days. Getting old sucks and when you are over 70 years old, well the world has changed but you remain the same some how. Slap her down again pa!

Most interesting story TFS. My surname started in england as Earps . When it reached Australia it changed . My gggrandather was a convict and my dad used to joke about being related to Wyatt. His nickname was actually Wyatt by some friends. I find the stories of the Earps families most intriguing. 👍🏻👍🏻

As I've said before,...as a native Arizonan who's family homesteaded out here before statehood, I truly love and appreciate these bits of Arizona and southwestern history. While I don't claim to be a historian, I have inherited via my father a love for the history of our state and believe myself to be rather more knowledgeable about it that the average person. And yet I didn't know about this episode of the Earp saga. I knew about Rex Allen, but I'd never heard that particular diddy. (For those that find it disturbing - not that it shouldn't be - just try to bear in mind it came from an era when a significant percentage of the culture in those days still considered young women as 'easily corruptible' and that a husband and father occasionally might need to be just a tad rough in a reserved and judicious way in order to 'tame' a wild child. Today we might call it battery, but back then, it was simply corporal punishment.) Thanks Karl. This is great stuff.

There might be tucked away in some private inherited collection. Or maybe some where taken and lost or destroyed over time. Even then it would likely be only a partial angle of the whole street. This is a small town in a fairly remote area, pre-1940 most people were not taking photos of buildings and it's not a big enough or "significant" enough building to have been immortalized on postcard or something similar promotion wise.

There is a little display type deal in the Willcox Historic Theater, along the wall as you walk into the lobby. Several pictures and articles from at least 1900 show the streets and some buildings around the theater.

I believe that particular bar or saloon has the largest one-piece bar west of the Mississippi. Made entirely out of 1 tree trunk at chock full of beautiful wood carvings. It is exquisite.
At least that is how the female barkeep told us the story when I was in there about 15-16 years ago.
